Any street car isn’t built to race. Yea they make them fast and fun, but they’re not built to race. That’s why any track goer like myself learned long ago that pounding on street built power will only last so long. Eventually things will malfunction or break. Also why most track goers invest in stronger aftermarket parts, especially on the drivetrain….like clutch, transmission, driveshaft and rear ends. Otherwise you’ll be spending more money constantly fixing stock parts that weren’t meant to take that abuse for long.

But if you know what you're doing and shift at the right RPM it's good to go. If I had the time and money I would like to install a better trans and clutch like a Tremec 6 speed. Ford should have kept those instead of switching to cheaper Chinese junk. But, to be honest, the stock trans can handle up to about 600 or 700 hp. Anything beyond that I would upgrade. I'm at about 500 crank hp so it works for me.

One time i had a challenger gt ( it was a rental) and i was so desperate to race ans i came upon a zo6 c8 in traffic and all the traffic was to semis going the same speed around constructing zone. Anyways when we go out of the construction zone the semi on the right had 2 car length gap and the zo6 gunned it and i gunned it and when we got in fornt we lined up and he started bullying me. I hit like 5 gears and he stayed in 2 gears not even full flooring it lol. I had fun tho. Fastest car i been in. Sorry just felt like sharing
I can go all the way up to 120 MPH in third gear before I have to shift in 5.2 Flat Plane Crank Mustang with Borla exhaust & headers, K & M air kit 6 speed. So he could actually run the whole race in third gear and dust him because in third gear it's mad torque.
@AtlSamuel Yes, but the differential is different, allowing for more WHP. Horsepower in the engine isn't the same as horsepower at the wheels. Hellcats have "707 horsepower" but really make 540 at the wheels (Pretty good though).
Gotta get rid of those 20s. Get some shorties or long tubes with a larger exhaust and itll be okay. I went srt and 6 speed tho to build upon. I dig the mustang variants, wish there was a modern/retro mach 1.
Mustang definitely needs a driver mod but that’s exactly what I expect to happen. You need a 392 to hang with the Coyote and even then the 21+ 10A Coyote vehicles are hard to beat. Hell a basic 21+ F150 work truck with the 5.0 is a mid 13 second truck all day long stock down to the crappy tires. That isn’t very off from what a stock R/T is capable of which is mostly because the Challenger and the pickup weigh about the same for some reason lol.
