  • This is a quick guide about wiring up the new Morimoto XB LED Headlights (2nd Generation) for the 2017+ Ford F150 Raptor (and 2015-2017 Ford F150s)
These are available from our website at www.4x4TruckLEDs.com
NOTE: at 3:03 when we hold the Morimoto harness built into the headlight, there are 2 plugs you WILL NOT use. One is a single pin, one is a dual pin. These are not needed and you can just tape these off. They are part of the halogen setup. You'll still use the single pin connector that had the blue cap on it, but the 2nd single pin connector is not used (you'll know which ones are not used, because they will be the only 2 left that did not plug into anything)

You truly are a lifesaver man! I have a 2018 lariat that has LED headlights, and I was pulling my hair out, trying to figure out how to put all of this together. Only video I could find that shows proper instructions. Unfortunately, Morimoto has no instructions for LED headlights 2018 to 2020. Great looking headlights, but poor instructions. Thanks again!

wow thanks for the info! They should have really updated the instructions especially when we’re forking out over a grand for them.

I was scratching my head about that orange wire for a while today. Didn’t even know it was a removable cap. Now I gotta dig to the back of my lights for the third time.

Hey great video.. I have one more connection coming from the Light itself Its the Gray and black wire with two prongs. Does that need to be connected?

I have watched sooooo many videos on these headlights and this is the first one that goes into detail for the 2015 - 2017 Ford F150 with stock LED lights, i.e. the Platinum models. I didn't remove the Halogen resistor packs when I installed mine because I had no idea I was supposed to. Furthermore, I just assumed I was supposed to swap out the halogen harness pack to the LED pack, only because that was the only way the connections made sense, but there is NOTHING in the instructions regarding doing that. Plus, I still don't know what fuse slot to connect the DRL harness to. Slot 113 as shown in the Morimoto instructions is a 7.5 amp fuse and doesn't work. Have you guys determined which one we should use? I totally agree with the comment "Love God Love People" made below, how in the hell can Morimoto put out such an expensive light and provide virtually zero instructions for stock LED trucks? I paid $1800 dollars for these with tax! We shouldn't have to guess, or search for hours on RUclips, to figure out how to install them. It's infuriating! P.S. Your video was kick ass. Thank you for providing this information.

So I recently bought a open box pair of these headlights for my 2016 f150 w/ halogen lights. But upon receiving them, I realize Morimoto didn’t actually include the Mini Fuse tap DRL harness. I bought the set harness from your website earlier today. There’s no picture, so just I wanna confirm that it’s the correct harness? I don’t know why Morimoto didn’t include them.

You bought an open box item... you may not get everything you need. Regular 2016 F150s use a mini fuse tap

Ordered directly from morimoto, specified that I needed the micro fuse tap and they still sent the wrong one.

The Morimoto instructions say to NOT use the DRL harness with OEM LED ( Raptor) for the DRL... You seem to say yes use it. Which is it??? Sorry, but you would be more clear if you just did a complete video for the OEM LED, and a separate complete one for Halogen, because you go back and forth with the DRL harness and confuse the issue and never say clearly if it is LED or Halogen set up that needs it , or both. Also, as a distributor, why can’t you talk to Morimoto to determine the fuse to use??? How can they put this expensive light out with such poor install information ??

The Morimoto instructions are old. The new 2nd generation require the DRL harness for everything to function properly (both with Halogen and OEM LED). If you don't want the startup sequence or the DRL to be on normally, then you don't need to connect the DRL harness. Without the DRL harness, you're DRL will not function all the time and may only come on when your headlights are on at night.

@@4x4TruckLEDscom Please call Morimoto and get correct info to put DRL fuse tap to. How can they release an expensive product and you sell without current and correct instructions?

@@JDZ777I just got mine in and it’s been a nightmare already. Never working with this company again, no type of instructions all old ones. They didn’t even give me a fuse tap harness either. Going to return them asap. What a nightmare

@@tommydodds so I’m having a similar issue at the moment. I bought an open box pair from their website. And whenever I opened the box, there was no DRL fuse tap harness. I don’t know if it was intentional or accidental. But regardless even at $1200 you’ll think they include a $20 harness
