Where did you get the statistic that 90% of people recover in 1 year? I've been a long hauler for 19 months and I am definitely not alone. Many, many people have been suffering even longer than me and it seems like we make up more than just 10% of the overall number of long haulers. I wish your estimate were accurate but I don't think it is 😢

10% of a very large group is still a large number.

Excellent talk and useful update. It's reassuring to know the current state of the art in this complex disease. I insist on the importance of a thorough check of coagulation in "long COVID" including looking for microclots. COVID-19 is the strongest acquired thrombophilia known to date.

Absolute bullshit the vaccinated don't suffer with long Covid as much. Vaccine is designed to harm like the virus, wake up for God's sake. It targets your existing health problems. My 20 yr old grandson was vaccinated, been left with ongoing Myocarditis, so don't put this misinformation in our heads. Just admit the real truths.. that will prevail.

My Epstein Barr that I caught at 17 was far from mild or benign. I nearly died from liver failure. I had late stage Lyme disease a few years after, and most recently the delta strain of sars cov 2. The latter was mild for my children and I, but my husband was bed bound for like 2 weeks. He still has issues with his o2, brain dog, muscle cramping, and a ton of fatigue. Incidentally, he was also the only one of our family of 4 that had routinely forgot to take any supplements like the kids and I had been doing for almost a year. When I began investigating I learned that those of us that had a gallbladder removal are more predisposed to fat soluble nutrient deficiencies. My husband happens to be included in that. There is also some concern regarding his ability to absorb B vitamins. I have not had any reactivation issues since prior to supplementing. I am in a lot less chronic pain too.

    Questions
    - can you get long CoVid after you’ve already had prior infection and vaccination?
    - If you can, is the long CoVid less severe?

Yes - they are seeing people now who did not develop long CoVid with their first or even second infection but did with a subsequent infection. The incidence is lower (but unfortunately not zero) if you're up to date on your CoVid vaccinations. I was vaccinated with my 2 primary doses when I got a mild case of CoVid in January 2022. I was overdue for my booster and regret that more than you could imagine. I'm going on 2 years with long CoVid. Perfectly healthy not old no underlying anything no over weight never a smoker always I'm active and eat well 😢 this virus is devastating -ending up a CoVid long hauler has completely derailed my life.

Is it a thing? Or just a new observation that would apply to many viral infections if as much attention was paid? Why would this virus be so special?

    • @paullienert6100

Because it came out of a lab and had directed evolution applied to it (gain of function) but I wouldn't get too worried about it, it's all about the fear campaign and fear sells.

What is this new super antibiotic resistant flesh eating Strep A epidemic that is mostly infecting children in Australia? How contagious is it? Is it also spreading among adults? Is it going to spread to other countries? What is the rate of death? What is the incubation period and life cycle? Will it be worse than Covid?

most people that say they have long covid do not have scarring or bronchio dysfunction. the reservoir for viral persistence has not been found. there is no diagnosis! ok maybe not yet a diagnosis, but this could also be mainly psychological. after the fearmongering and then lockdowns it is a valid theory.

A lot of people? I have a pretty big social sphere and nobody has this. I think you are all confusing your new found depressions. That’s why you have your symptoms match with a depression and that’s also why it’s mostly women past their peak/prime giving “testimonies”.
