A friend of mine had a small A-Liner. She took it to a dealer in the St. Louis area for some warranty work. When she went back to get it for a camping trip, she found out that it had been "Stolen". Funny that the keys were missing from the office as well. Someone sold it or gave it to their hunting buddies.
Well, he’s obviously not someone who is experienced in pulling a travel trailer also, it shouldn’t be hard for the detectives to track him down. All they have to do is check truckstop footage within a 400 mile radius because there’s no way you’re going to get that behemoth into a regular gas station.
A Proven Industries Coupler Lock and a Padlock on the hitch pin slot would go a long way in stopping this. We also always keep the stabilizers down when parked to deter this.
That and one should never overlook adding additional security, such as to have a recording of country music playing within earshot of the trailer hitch, because hearing that would cause him to crack his teeth while coping with nausea and never try to do that again.
When i drove a semi, i bought a lock for the trailer. Simply put it on the pin after the trailer is dropped. It wasn't going anywhere until I unlocked it.
Putting stabilizers down won’t do anything except cause more damage when they pull away. Need a lock 🔐 where the pin goes and disable the Jack by taking out the fuse. That’s what I do with my trailer.

Both sun visors down, blacked out fron plate, kept head dwon and away from view, pulled up fake covid cover, etc. This guy knew exactly where the security camera was and most likely there was not another in that area he was concerned for. A good place to start is former employees or a family member of one etc. Too much knowledge for a first time visitor. An air pod hidden in the trailer would be impossible to find in time by bandits as well. Cheap security option for future on site units.

Used properly, including hidden ones closer to property perimeters that get close ups of suspects and vehicles, are way more effective at capturing good suspect info. Banks have some of the best camera systems out there yet we still have bank robberies. Cameras are an effective tool when installed and utilized properly.

You can set the field with small blocks so you don’t get alarms from things like background traffic and moving trees flags etc. you can set set up the times/days for these alerts so you don’t get them during normal work hours. They either cheaped out on the system or someone didn’t set it up properly. In the time it took this guy to hook up the police could have been there and someone from the dealership could be on their way to the business.

I pulled a 30 foot Airstream (1968 model) through the Ozark mountains with an F150 with the small V-8 with no issues, but I had the proper hitch and trailer brake controller.
I always keep a both hitch-ball and latch-pin locks on my rig when it's not attached to my truck (just the latch-pin lock when it is attached), even when it's in my driveway at home. It takes maybe 20 seconds extra and insures that someone can't easily hook up and drive it off.
he sideswiped the sandpiper 5th wheel on the left as he went by...you can see it shaking in the image as he pulls between the two rigs on his exit...wonder if that is why he stopped before exiting the area...to inspect the damage to his new camper....😅

All 3 trucks had been reported stolen days before in a neighboring state. As far as I know,they never got caught. The trucks were dumped hundreds of Miles away.
The wheels and axles should either have a intensive locking mechanism, or be removable and replaced with blocks until intended to legally leave the lot. Or add a fence and some savage chewing boston dynamics security dogs with rows of hedge trimmers for teeth.

A reminder of why front plates should be mandatory. Also, GPS trackers are inexpensive and will alert you if your tracked item moves. My relatives think I'm crazy to have a ball lock, latch lock, safety chains locked up, and a boot on one wheel.

Indeed, this is good advice. Seems some simple measures could have prevented or made this more difficult.
It doesn't take more than 45 seconds to get any lock off. That won't stop anyone with 1/2 a brain

He finally got lined up after 5 tries. I can usually do it in 3-4. Also, he didn't plug in the trailer lights. That's illegal and he might get a ticket for that.
This guy could tow that think across the country with that truck no problem.
I'd hook a trailer 1/5 the size to it and manage to break down in 50ft after meticulously maintaining every part of it🤣🤣🤣

He’s inexperienced at pulling a large trailer. Very likely he didn’t even have a brake controller or know how to use it. Lucky he didn’t crash and kill some folks once he reached the roadway. Every camper on a dealer lot needs tracking devices, because of guys like this. Very sad
