6:25 That's Ralph Earnhardt, father of Dale Earnhardt Sr, sending a guy named Dick Plemmons into the dugout. Lee Petty, father of Richard Petty also found himself in that same dugout during practice for the 1958 race, but repaired his car and finished 4th for the main event. Jim Paschal won the race. The track measured just a quarter mile in length. Absolutely insane little short track.
The one near the bridge is actually pretty cool imagine being a high school baseball player in New York seeing the Brooklyn Bridge when you're at bat that would actually be pretty damn cool
I played there once when I played baseball in my freshman year of high school. It’s located in the Two Bridges section of Chinatown. Even though I found it interesting to play next to the Manhattan Bridge (drew a walk, stole two bases, and scored a run), it wasn’t the weirdest ballpark I ever played in. Once when I was in little league, I played under the 59th Street Bridge on an all-clay field (you read that right) with a CF that was at least 450. It was the most unusual, but most fun ballpark I ever played in. It’s now an indoor tennis center.
I frequently played there in high school, i kinda liked it. Theres this urban legend that Manny Ramirez once hit a ball up onto the bridge as a high school senior.

I just had the opportunity to play high school baseball at limeport stadium in the outfield about 10 minutes ago. It was pretty cool to know the backstory of it and get to play on it. Definitely felt weird running up a hill to catch a ball.
In the 1930's, a lot of semi-pro baseball teams in the UK played at greyhound racetracks. VERY short right field lines! Talking about light poles in the field of play, I've heard of an ice hockey game continuing around a broken down Zamboni machine 😂

Ok, just started your video and the very first one (Limeport Stadium...i knew it before you even said the name) I've played in many times. I've Pitched a few shut outs there in highschool and Legion baseball. now I have to watch the rest...haha
I am from Illinois and my travel team did the Cal Ripken jr tournament and the fields are beautiful and the rest of the South Carolina experience was great the worst thing was the 15 hour drive home.
Related to the "Cal Ripken Experience" there's also "Ball Parks of America" in Branson, MO which has several fields at Little League Intermediate Size (70 foot basepaths) Specifically St. Louis, Kansas City, Boston, NY (Yankees), and Chicago (Wrigley).
They really looked at cookie-cutter stadiums and said "It's free real estate"...it's clear the common sense of these boards of education isn't their strong suit
The field most of my smolboi games were played didnt even have a fence or wall or anything that can determin a homerun A homerun was basically if you can run all 4 bases before the outfielders got to the ball
Played outfield on the Ed Walsh field in Meriden Ct. Plenty of “inside the park” home runs in left field. We’d also have home run derby’s in the mini field right next to it.
You should do the NTU (National Taiwan University) college baseball field. 260 to right, 440 to center, and 370 to left. It has a section in left field where their track juts into the field. Located at 25°01'14"N 121°32'06"E
Love the video!!!!! Andrus field is located at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and is a multi use field that hosts football and various ceremonies and events as well. The field is in the center of campus which makes the sports events available to watch for all of the students. During the spring, there is a temporary fence to make the outfield more "regular" so it doesn't look exactly like you showed in the video.
Omg my submission actually made it to the video!? Seeing that field brings back memories. I was never on the team, I tried out twice but never got in, but this field was something different to play on, Left field was the most normal pet of it. Anyway Go Barristers!
From Brooklyn NY I've played games at that field next to the sewage plant it's Soooooo bad it's extremely hard to breathe, My highschool hated playing the team who played there
I live near Bishop Watterson. There is NO open space within half a mile of the school. It’s not surprising they crammed so much into such a small space. 😂
Army Navy High School in Carlsbad Cali. Ive had to play there a few times, they have every single sport on one field and theres hundreds of different color lines. Its a headache to play on.
lol I went to American Martyrs and it is not a high school. It goes preschool-8th grade. I played a couple of little league baseball games there and you definitely had to shift your outfield. It was one of the first turf fields in the area and was a lot of fun to play soccer there in particular.
The reason for some of these weird designs is so that when a game goes on seemingly forever with extra innings and the fans get bored they can have a football game in the outfield to keep the people entertained. 😁
I like to believe that on the last one they don’t even have a left or right fielder since it’s basically pointless. Instead they have shallow center, deep center, and to deep center
A weird field I played on was Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco. It was one of those rectangular multi-use fields, with the right field fence being only ~260 with a high wall. The 1st base line was also the football end zone, and the football field cut across the red infield and made playing on it really trippy.
Eastern York High school in pa has an endless center field where it just goes past the track and the fence of the track is where it goes out of play. 604 feet 😂
Important Note: American Martyrs in Manhattan Beach, CA is actually a K-8 school, and that field is used for little league baseball. Still weird but not as weird as if it was a high school.
North Summit’s whole campus is just funky, with the mountains right up against it and highway running between the school grounds and the slope. First time I had a track meet there, everything looked so narrow and weird. The parking lot is just an extension of the highway and I wonder why no one gets hit by crazy drivers. Great video, as always!
Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield California deserves a shout. It's one of only 2 baseball stadiums in the country which has the batters facing the setting sun. We don't start games here in the summer until 830 pm because the batters can't see the pitches. The story I heard was that the field used to be a horse racetrack and they saved money by keeping the existing grandstand even though it faces the worst direction possible.
Our HS used to have a terrible outfield that had a hill and a bunch of vegetation, I'm pretty sure it was considered a home run if it landed in the vegetation, but they put in a fence there. The right field fence lead to a busy street, and the left field fence lead to a busy shopping center parking lot
Wish I could like this 100 times. I love this topic. I played on an all dirt little league field with no fence. Then played at well’s park in El Cajon. Field went 310 in left 410 center 320 right with deepest about 450 in right center. Basically a big awkward square. Played softball as an adult and caught a couple 350 bombs from Marcus Giles in left field. Swear they had an 8 second hangtime each.
This reminded me of all the fields I grew up playing baseball on. Torosian Park, Maywood School, St. Patrick's Park, Alex MacKenzie Park. All in the same neighbourhood basically. Then we would drive across town and watch the St. Catharines Blue Jays play at George Taylor Field. I once watched my best friend loose his final Little League game there, and we used to play at the Community Park behind the hockey rinks there.
Got a fun one for you: Rockville High School in Vernon, CT. The baseball team only used it for practice and instead played at another field in town when I went to school there. No real end to left or left center, until you clear the softball field in deep left center.
Somewhat weird city-fit field is UPMC Park in Erie, PA (formerly to be Jerry Uht Field), home of the Erie Seawolves (MiLB AA Eastern League NE). Left: 317ft , Center: 400ft, Right: 328ft Center varies between 390ft and 415ft because of a weird angled wall. Neighboring Erie Insurance Arena (home of Connor McDavid when he played for the Erie Otters in the OHL) was renovated in 2013 and it's southfacing wall was pushed out to become the left field wall. Raised left field home run line in 2022 from 17 feet to 36 feet (to above the large banner ads), just a foot shy of the Green Monster, essentially becoming Erie's "Ad Monster".
My parents were my tball coaches and we once had our whole team practice in our front yard. We had a decent size driveway and a big yard. I specifically remember that being the most cars I'd ever seen line our driveway. And plenty of folks drove side by sides or something there. Geez that was about 17 years ago 😅
I was hoping for an encore! Also, for someone who gushes about Minute Maid Park's hill that used to be there, I'm surprised Five is taking a piss on fields with hills in them.
Do want to note with Lebanon High School at 7:37, this field is generally just for JV games now; they play at a local park for varsity unless field conditions there aren't playable. They DO play softball on the tiny soccer field in the bottom left. Source: was previously a sports writer who covered games in their league.
vinal tech high school in Middletown has a baseball field that has like no boundaries in right field except for a small little hill that separates it from the other fields
Grew up just outside of Myrtle Beach, we used to play AAU tournaments at the Cal Ripken facility whenever we had a chance. It's a awesome place, made you feel like a big leaguer playing there at 11-12 yrs old.
I actually played a tournament at the Ripken experience when I was a kid. It was actually pretty awesome, really made you feel like you were playing in the big leagues, probably helped looking over at the crowd and seeing Cal himself watching tho.
I actually still play in Comer Field for my 14U Summer League team. I gotta say that it is so hard playing there as so many balls ricochet off the fence. It also stinks like absolute shit during night games.
The Cal Ripken experience one gets weirder and weirder the more you look at it. I had to go look on a map to understand but the much smaller "fields" within in the park I think are training grounds for certain situations. Like the perfectly round field Might be for practicing pitching into the sun. Because some fields aren't made facing the right way. The other fields might be for pick off training? I dont really know but thats my guess.
I wanted to add some context to Comer Field while prefacing that the information I am providing is based on my experiences in the mid to late 90s during my time playing Little League ball for Kings Bay Little League. Comer Field (then at least) was owned by Kings Bay Little League; however, I have no recollection whatsoever of a game taking place there. I do recall some local neighborhood kids occasionally playing there, but nothing organized. Kings Bay had 2, very nice (for a little league), fields just down the street across Voorhees. For the most part, you did not pick up any scent of the waste plant on these fields unless there was a nasty wind blowing. It is worth noting, however, that right next to Comer Field was/is(?) a football field where Pee Wees played. And directly after that was a roller hockey rink where youth hockey was played. So there was organized sports right next to the plant, but baseball (at least then) was not apart of that. Also, considering that the field was designed for youth, the dimensions are pretty solid. If anyone has a more recent take, let us know. I'm not claiming that my experience then holds factual water today.
Its a good, informed take. The field looks like a practice field and usually you don’t smell waste water treatment except when they release by product into the river, and if you are boating it smells TERRIBLE.
@@FivePointsVids thank you, and so true. Where we actually used to smell that plant the most was when we would go to Burger King right after the game. It was well within smelling distance. Nothing like eating a whopper with dirt covered hands and smelling waste and not being sure where that waste smell was definitively coming from. :)
@@bobrichard3638 lol. That just seems unfair. Which high school(s)? I know Sheepshead is nearby but I was told they were split into multiple schools some year's ago. My child mind always wanted to play on their turf field because I was too naive to realize how bad turf was for the game.
I remember when I was in little league one of the stadiums was so bad it had cow crap in left field. It also happened to be the only game I played in left field.
I played at Satchel Paige Memorial Stadium in KCMO! It serves as a wood bat "RBI" league through the Boys and Girls club and sees games played mostly by teams with players under the age of 16. Because of the age and bat restrictions, the dimensions don't feel that unreasonable. I only saw one ball go over the 40 foot tall right field wall. But you're right, the grandstands are crumbling.

I’m actually a SoCal realtor and I looked it up and wow your guess was spot on. That guys house is worth ~2.08M 😂
I've been to the field in Ashville many times and never knew they raced there! it's such a small, weird park but a part of my childhood!
Ok, just started your video and the very first one (Limeport Stadium...i knew it before you even said the name) I've played in many times. I've Pitched a few shut outs there in highschool and Legion baseball. now I have to watch the rest...haha
I am from Illinois and my travel team did the
Cal Ripken jr tournament and the fields are beautiful and the rest of the South Carolina experience was great the worst thing was the 15 hour drive home.
@CCTheBadger I am 11 currently
There are NO weird baseball fields in North Korea!
@@FivePointsVids Katie Melua's less successful second single there.
These are some of my favorite videos of all time i have no idea why i find it so interesting
The field most of my smolboi games were played didnt even have a fence or wall or anything that can determin a homerun
A homerun was basically if you can run all 4 bases before the outfielders got to the ball
Slapshoes and Fivepoints...the crossover I never knew I wanted
11:21, damn! I think you gotta go with 3 centerfielders in this situation 😂
The kid running directly to second base in the opening is awesome. 😂
i’ve been waiting for this forever
Love the video!!!!! Andrus field is located at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and is a multi use field that hosts football and various ceremonies and events as well. The field is in the center of campus which makes the sports events available to watch for all of the students. During the spring, there is a temporary fence to make the outfield more "regular" so it doesn't look exactly like you showed in the video.
yea I noticed that too
I love the stadium videos, dam they always interest me and the humor is lovely too. 5 point vids just hits the spot 🤙
Got to love the surprise crossover appearance of my boy SlapShoes!!! That was an awesome treat!!! Great and fun video to watch
Love how Five Points says “right after this” even without a sponsor
Well, he's never lying. No matter how you interpret it; even without a sponsor, the video comes right after he makes that statement.
More weird baseball fields, please!!!
Army Navy High School in Carlsbad Cali.
Ive had to play there a few times, they have every single sport on one field and theres hundreds of different color lines. Its a headache to play on.
2:35 how close is the freeway to that field? I wonder if anyone has scored a dinger into someone's car.
lol I went to American Martyrs and it is not a high school. It goes preschool-8th grade. I played a couple of little league baseball games there and you definitely had to shift your outfield. It was one of the first turf fields in the area and was a lot of fun to play soccer there in particular.
I love these type of videos, I finally played on my first terrible field. Bay Village High School freshman field, in Ohio
I've played there before. It's pretty cruddy.
@@dhrus5671 what city you live in?
@@_naZKar Cleveland
@@dhrus5671 like downtown? Or in a close by city
@@_naZKar I'm not gonna go too far into specifics lol
I umpired at Limeport Stadium in PA. So odd that the outfield slopes up. I have seen some bombs hit and they still stay in.
The reason for some of these weird designs is so that when a game goes on seemingly forever with extra innings and the fans get bored they can have a football game in the outfield to keep the people entertained. 😁
I love videos like this. Jeez, I thought the Polo Grounds was weird. Thank you so much for giving us these fields of screams.
I want to get so rich and powerful that I can make major league teams play at these parks.
"You think the three-true-outcomes-ball is bad now? Wait til you see them play at Staten Island Technical!"
This video's a good way to get some wild ideas for custom ballparks in MLB The Show 22
I like to believe that on the last one they don’t even have a left or right fielder since it’s basically pointless.
604 feet 😂
I played at satchel page and was like a 2 degrees off of my launch angle from my first home run a few weeks ago
the commentary is great to... there is a warning track of a track to warn u off the fence another 200 feet away hahaha
As someone who played in the field next to the wastewater treatment plant in Brooklyn - it smells awful I can assure you
Important Note: American Martyrs in Manhattan Beach, CA is actually a K-8 school, and that field is used for little league baseball.
Where did you go to school???
saw you on mariners game live pregame! great video and you seem like a humble guy subscribed!
Thanks!!!
Old Clark Field in Austin had a limestone cliff in the outfield that was in play. You don't see too much about it today because it closed in 1974.
Our HS used to have a terrible outfield that had a hill and a bunch of vegetation, I'm pretty sure it was considered a home run if it landed in the vegetation, but they put in a fence there. The right field fence lead to a busy street, and the left field fence lead to a busy shopping center parking lot
Nice to see Slapshoes join in!
I played at Cardines Field for an Amateur League team for 2 years, very interesting setup and dimensions.
Got a fun one for you: Rockville High School in Vernon, CT. The baseball team only used it for practice and instead played at another field in town when I went to school there. No real end to left or left center, until you clear the softball field in deep left center.
Snapshoes is a really solid channel, I'm already a subscriber so that shoutout was solid.
he's also a really cool guy in real life, got to go to a race with him and hang out in Daytona. Just good people.
@@FivePointsVids that's so wicked! Definitely seems like a great dude to have a beer with haha. Enjoyed the video man thanks!
Somewhat weird city-fit field is UPMC Park in Erie, PA (formerly to be Jerry Uht Field), home of the Erie Seawolves (MiLB AA Eastern League NE).
Left: 317ft
, Center: 400ft, Right: 328ft
Center varies between 390ft and 415ft because of a weird angled wall.
5 point vids r great “taking a shit and I need something to watch” videos
Long tossing at limeport stadium makes you feel like Trevor Bauer because of the elevation in center, as long as your not the one stuck on the line
I actually played a tournament at the Ripken experience when I was a kid. It was actually pretty awesome, really made you feel like you were playing in the big leagues, probably helped looking over at the crowd and seeing Cal himself watching tho.
these stadium videos are what keep me sane
I actually still play in Comer Field for my 14U Summer League team. I gotta say that it is so hard playing there as so many balls ricochet off the fence. It also stinks like absolute shit during night games.
The Cal Ripken experience one gets weirder and weirder the more you look at it. I had to go look on a map to understand but the much smaller "fields" within in the park I think are training grounds for certain situations. Like the perfectly round field Might be for practicing pitching into the sun. Because some fields aren't made facing the right way. The other fields might be for pick off training? I dont really know but thats my guess.
5:30 got to play there when i was i college, the fields are trippier from ground level
High school games are currently played there. Played my first ever high school game there and hit one off the building......for a double
I like these ballparks and fields. A nice change up from the dull boring regular fields
I've been to the one in Newport and I never realized how truly messed up it looked. Newport is a very dense area, so it makes sense though.
