    Just took mine apart. As others on Amazon reviews have stated. No water fills tower due to a kink in the inner tube.
    I plan on getting one from home depot.

      Hi Valerie,
      Sorry to here you have had problems with yours. Min is still going strong.
      Try connecting it to the hose turn the presser up fully.
      Then open the foot tap first till water comes out.
      Close the foot tap and then open the cold water shower you should hear air come out. It will take a little while for it to fill then when water comes out switch it to full hot.
      When water comes out shut off the shower and then the hose.
      Give it a day in the sun and you should be good to go.
      I hope this helps, Its how I start mine after the winter.
      All the best

      Hi Living La Dolce Vita, Sorry for the delay in our reply we have lots going on here at the moment.
      It heats the water relay well on a sunny day I have not taken a temperature reading as it will very so much on how much sun it gets and the temperature of the feed water. But from our experience you can get 2 - 3 hot showers and 4 -5 warm showers on a south east England summers day.
      Kind Regards Dave

  • @GianlucaBrizi
    @GianlucaBrizi 2 месяца назад +1

    But the problem is that the vertical sun does not heat the PVC. That is, it does not produce hot water. We are all led to believe and do not use logic. The sun does not heat the water in these showers. After many hours of exposure it remains warm because the high sun does not affect the black of the plastic. But then, in autumn when the sun is lower perhaps it will warm up.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Gianluca, Do you have one and if so where in the world are you were the sun does not see the whole shower only the top? Ours works very well in the UK. Yes it does not boil the water but it does make it warm hot might be a personal sensation but it is defiantly warmer than the tap water feeding it.

    Great video! I did a very similar installation. Any thoughts on how to remove the factory seal on the lower tower component? I want to access the mixing valve from the inside and the top is glued. It appears that it’s not intended to be user serviceable.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  Месяц назад +1

      Hi John. It is all glued / PVC welded shut so no I do not think you would be able to get to the valve.
      If it is not working at all you can try heating up the joint with a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the joint and brake it loos but this may very well damage it beyond use so do it at your own risk.

    Hi Dave. Thank you for the review.
    Would you say that it's a good quality product? Here in Greece we have plenty of hot sun but that also means that flimsy plastic will get burnt very quickly.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport

      Hi Basilis,
      Yes I think is it well made and thick plastic. It still looks to be in very good condition no cracks, crazing or discolouring so far. Very happy with it.
      Greece's sun will be harsher on plastic I know UV kills everything. You may find a metal one lasts longer but they are normally more expensive, I would give this one a go with this one.

      Hi Tom, A good question. I always just turn the hose on and off so have not tried doing that yet. But I don't think it will work as there is not a non-return valve on the inlet at the bottom so if there is not enough pressure on the hose after you turn it off I think it will tray and drain back down. If you fit a non-return valve I bet you could get one or two out of it.
      If I get a chance to try it I will update you. Just been so busy with renovating our house so don't have much time at the moment.

    Hi, thanks a lot for this video. I had a question. With the time have you tried to disconnect the water pipe ? To test if it works with what the reservoir has in capacity?

      Hi Mimi Miki, If you disconnect the hose it will leek out when you turn on either of the taps! So only do this if you want to empty it.
      Glade you liked the video I do hope you subscribed.
      There will be no or very little water presser if the hose is connected and turn off as the body of water is lower then the shower head only presser that would be there would be from water expansion from the heat but I expect this would not get to boiling point for this to haven an effect.
      All the best Dave

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 года назад +1

      Hi LuckFavoursThePrep
      LoL, ease of drilling into the concrete paver with only a hammer drill... Glad it looked easy but it was not. If I had an SDS drill at the time it would have been. :) Get an SDS drill first, be prepared. As to stability, where we are the topsoil is only 1 inch deep then we hit solid chalk so absolutely no problems for us. One thing that might be worth doing is digging a soakaway were people will be standing if it's used a lot but so far we have had absurdly no problems with it.
      I hope this helps, kind regards and keep well

    how long can you take showers? is the tank constantly being refilled since its connected to the hose or does the tank run out?? I'm a big fan of long showers and a few minutes just won't do lol.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 года назад +1

      Hi Devin,
      It depends on how hot you want the water more than anything else. The tank constantly fills with cold water from the hose assuming the hose is turned on. Thus you can have a shower for as long as you like. However, the water takes time to heat up from the sun so a long piping hot shower won't happen. But you should be able to get a reasonable length hot shower out of it. We have found 4 quick showers is about what you can expect with hot water and 6 with warm water.
      I hope this helps but this is only what we get, what you get could vary depending on the temperature of the water from the hose, the amount of sun the shower is exposed to, how hot you are mixing/running the shower and the amount of flow.
      I hope this helps.
      Kind regards and keep well

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jonas,
      Good question. Well, it's best to keep it connected to stop dirt and bugs from getting in. If the taps are FULLY closed then this should create an airlock and hold the water if you disconnect the hose. Just like putting your thumb on the end of a straw after putting it in a glass of water and pulling it back out, the water stays in the straw. I believe I have and it did work, can't remember for sure. Well, that is the working theory anyway.
      I hope this helps,

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 года назад +2

      Hi Jonathan,
      It all depends on how much sun it gets as it heats the water using the Sun's heat during "sunny weather" so it's not well insulated and will start losing heat once the sun is not out so it could have started to cool if it got in the shade. It must be in the Sun to not only heat up but stay warm.
      I can't remember how long it takes to heat up as I use it in the evening so I never worked it out. It will be cold first thing in the morning and at the hottest first thing in the afternoon, in the evening it may start cooling down. At a guess about 1 or 3 hours in the full midday sun.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 года назад +1

      Hi CL
      It takes a day to heat from cold so fill it in the morning and in the evening you should have a warm shower. I found that you can get 3 good hot showers out of it the 4th is warm, not hot. The next evening I was ready to use it again. I can't remember how well it works on an overcast day as we mainly use the sap on sunny days.
      I can say it's a nice feature to have along with the lay-z-spa something unique and a talking point. I wish more beaches have them as the ones I have tried on holiday to Alicante were excellent which is where I got the idea to do it from.

      Hi P,
      At our old place were had a balcony facing a main London road bus stop at a perfect height for the top of a bubble decker bus. We could have put on a good show lol...
      All the best

      Hi Roberto,
      The only difficult and messy part was drilling the holes in the concrete. Apart from that, it was an easy, quick and clean process. Drilling the holes would have been a lot easier with an SDS drill amzn.to/3LlMNfw
      Wish you all the best.

      Hi Mr Oronge,
      I only wish I had my new Makita SDS drill amzn.to/2P8WbfK at the time, would have made the job so much easier. I don't normal drill through concrete so have not needed an SDS drill before but now I have one I love it. In fact, I love the Makita 18V brushless range with such good quality and resale prices amzn.to/3u4IcGw.
      Kind regards and keep well

      If you had used an SDS on that thin paving slab it would have broken in half. Should be a deeper poured concrete base.

      Hi Hubb, well if that is the case it would have made a nice bluper clip. You may well be right if I get a 2nd slab I will give it a go. For safety you are also probably right about a poured block but it has been fine so far. Thanks for your input it's much appreciated.

    Sooooo it just heats up from the sun on the outside ?

      Hi Nmore69, The radiant heat from the sun heats up the outside and then conducts the heat into the water. Yes plastic is an insulator but as its a solid plastic not an aerated one it does allow the conduction of heat, so you end up with nice hot/warm water
      All the best and kind regards Dave
