- After arriving in Skopje, Macedonia, we set off to explore the capital of this small beautiful and proud Balkan country. Skopje has such an interesting history and is full of reminders at every turn, as well as, statues! Skopje is often called 'the city of statues' and it's pretty apparent why! From visiting the old Bazaar to chilling in Macedonia Square and grabbing a bite on Bohemian Street. This is our first impressions of Skopje, one of Europe's most beautiful but least known capitals! 😊🇲🇰

Ironically the official name of the country is North Macedonia. And this is like saying the whole America continent is USA if you call it "America" instead of the USA.
I mean it can mean both but you know that some people might get offended (especially the Greeks).

Alexander was Greek and mother Teresa Albanian. In fact Alexander or his had never been that far north. Skopje was build as a fort by Greek Byzantines and the name of the city is also Greek. It means sentinel

It was the 3rd largest city in ex Yugoslavia

Yes she was Albanian but real Albanian, unlike Sqiptars in our country originated from Kosovo. She was catholic and not muslim like Sqiptars, I don't know what you Sqiptars are looking at Albanians and thinking that you are the same nation.. But let me tell you something, Albanians are catholics from Albania and Sqiptars are muslims from Kosovo.

Using historical figures to forge an identity is something that has been done and is still being done all around the world, especially ex Soviet and ex communist countries, there are current examples of it all over Central Asia and Eastern Europe. I am sure George, there are some of them you actively cheerlead, just becuase this particular case triggers you isn't my problem. The fact remains the Alexander the Great was from Macedon, which included modern day N.Macedonia.

Well again we have modern greek nonsense. Macedonia was an ancient kingdom called Kingdom of Macedon ruled by macedonian kings most famously by King Philip the second,who conquered most of which is modern day Greece to enrich his kingdom and to strengthen his armies to fight the Persians.

1:08 This is of course not Alexander the Great, the statue is called "Warrior on a Horse". Alexander has no connection with this Slavic country as he was a Hellene according to world history, archaeology and the goverment of North Macedonia itself.
