    Hey Rachel and Mr Dan . I'm from Trinidad and Tobago , im in the Caribbean, a Ford 3000 owner. 1969 Bought it 2 yrs ago.

      Hello, I'm a 64-year-old farmer who recently purchased a small farm in Goodrich, Mi, off Dutch Road.
      My wife and I stopped at the Steiner Tractor store for a look around and to purchase a front tractor emblem for my old 8n!
      I took 1 photo of my wife sitting in a chair and the counter clerk scolded me saying, no taking of pictures in the store...
      The counter clerk demeaned me in front of another customer, and my wife! I don't plan to return to Steiners or make further purchases from them!
      Steiner Tractor should post signs that read: (PLEASE, NO CAMERAS ALLOWED!) to prevent degrading community customers.

    Thanks very much for this nice to watch and very instructive video. I followed it exactly to repair the pump on my '72 3000. I have just a few remarks for your information:
    --In the video at 18:10 you insert the ball cages and remark that the prongs stick out a little bit, then you put the gasket and the plate on. In my case this didn't work, on assembly the plate crushed the ball cages. The Ford manual states that you should put the springs in the housing holes, pose the gasket, then place the 3-pronged ends of the ball cages plus balls in the plate and carefully lower the plate plus inserted balls and cages into the pump housing, onto the springs. I do not know if this problem exists in all 3000's, but in mine the holes in the housing that receive the ball cages are 1mm larger than the bores in the plate, so the protruding ends of the ball cage prongs get caught up under the plate (instead of in the bores in the plate) almost by definition.
    --The bearing on the wobble shaft goes on so much easier if you just warm it a bit with a heat gun, it just drops on, almost no hammering required, not even to speak of a press.
    Still, my compliments for your work, it is very much appreciated and has helped me gather the courage to start this job myself.
    Kind regards and greetings from France!

    Just a couple of things. Be generous with the oil when re-assembling, especially with bearings and shaft seals. Pack the Torrington needles as well as the Timken. If you have access to liquid nitrogen, it lessens the danger of hammering bearing cups into place. Also, try the old trick of setting the tapered bearing on a lightbulb for about 10 minutes. They usually drop right on to a lightly oiled shaft. On another note, can you supply sleeve and piston kits for the AD4-203 Perkins as was used in the MF 165? My MF industrial 30 needs a refresh.

    That compression fitting she spoke about at 10:30. Was a major pain for me back when we had a 3000. They were $70 each back 40 years ago. At the dealership. Sometimes the line would just pop out. No warning. Pumping all hy fluid out in a matter of seconds. I tried everything. Several new fitting. A new line and fitting. A U bolt hold down set up. It didn't pop out. But develop a leak pretty quick. The final solution was welding a flair fitting to that fitting. Packing removed. Flairing the steel line. Reshaping the line to fit of course. That did hold until we traded it A neighbor had a 3000 also. Same exact problem. I believe Ford had a hugh stock of those fittings. After years of sitting in a wearhouse. The rubber packing in them, broke down. When sold as a replacement part. They wouldn't do the job of holding the line. Our 3000 diesel was a good tractor other than that. However, Ford's inability to devise a update for that problem. ( I even did it) Was the major reason when it came time to replace it.We purchased a John Deere 5300. Never been sorry!

    • @cjselby651
      @cjselby651 3 года назад

      Have the same situation with my 2000 right now, dang thing keeps popping out even after replacing the packing and line. Ended up parking it and bought a Kubota swearing that I will work on it again this summer but not sure I have enough patience as it is a stupid issue.

      @@cjselby651 Take a look at these. www.hydraulichoses.com/47208-Flareless-Tube-Compression-Fittings-p/47208.htm Not exactly what I did but close. Cut the body just behind the hex. ( These are meant to couple a tube). Then weld it to that awful ford fitting. Cut the line to fit of course. Throw the packing away. I believe it has a steel sleeve in it to compress around the hydraulic line. That should do it. Unfortunately, as you probably know there is another one of those fittings on the other end of the line. Where it goes into the transmission. It never gave me any trouble. I did change it a couple of times. Trying to fix the pump fitting. Those are pretty pricey. You might find them @ discount hydraulic hose cheaper.

    I just did a pump on my Ford this past summer because mine was dumping engine oil. I could not find a shaft for mine without waiting on shipping, I removed my bearing and welded up my shaft and turned it down in the lathe. I replaced the bearing and seal total repair was around $50 pump worked great other than leak so couldn't see rebuilding it.I'd say if you have a machine shop nearby it wouldn't cost much to rebuild the shaft it took me roughly 20-30 minutes to weld it up and turn it down.
