I had no idea!!! I like this "Look At This" segment! They're even built/facing/styled in the form of the Alcoa Logo.

Los angeles has it's twin towers, I had no idea that the century plaza towers were designed by the same architect as the twin towers in NYC, but they definitely have the same design cues as the original WTC, the century plaza twin towers are iconic, they served as the headquarters for the 80s tv series Remington Steele.

I did a lot of construction work in those buildings, besides being clad in aluminum the original ductwork was made of aluminum as was all of the other Alcoa commissioned buildings. We spent a lot of time in Century City removing the ductwork so that the Asbestos fire proofing could be removed...

Century City is also accounted for in number of completed skyscrapers in LA city limits. Those new twin towers were suppose to be 600 feet tall, but they were reduced to 537 feet, meaning Century plaza towers remain the tallest outside of downtown LA and downtown SF, until it’s surpassed by a 622 foot tall tower underway in downtown Oakland. It’s a “second skyline” for Los Angeles. As San Francisco builds their second and third skyline out on Treasure Island, and Van Ness & Market with three 600 foot towers. I think it’s amazing how only LA & SF are home to the most skyscrapers of any city on the west coast or any city in America besides NYC, Chi, Miami, & Houston. LA & SF come in at 5th & 6th respectively. LA’s skyline is definitely under-looked because it’s the second largest city in America so people expect it to be NYC or Chicago status. But nope. In all reality, LA has the same amount of skyscrapers as SF up north. For those who don’t know. A skylines ranking is based upon how many completed skyscrapers are within a city (150 M, 492 feet) LA has 30 while San Francisco has 28. Both cities have towers planned and underway so those numbers can change.

Comparing your skyline to a city of 800K vs your city of almost 4M - is not good! San Jose is a larger city than SF in it's own region!
