Time Taken:
I stopped keeping track of how long this took around 87 hours but if I had to give a rough estimate on how long it took to only animate what's in this video I'd say give or take around 150 hours.
June 2020 - started the project

I can't believe I'm here. It's finally finished. Three years and a few months later... Before this project I had hardly animated anything. So I feel like you can tell I'm learning. All of this was made purely for fun. Somehow, I'm still not sick of the song. I could complain about things I wished I'd done differently or better but that doesn't do anyone much good. I'm truly just thankful and proud that I did it. If you're curious at all about the process of making this, I've made various posts on my community tab and tiktok. And Please Please please comment questions about the characters, thoughts on the animatic, anything, I read every single one and try to reply to as much as i can.

I love how this animation keeps the same message that was in the original but put a twist in it
I regret that I couldn't make it here live, but I am nonetheless impressed. Also, and this may just be my weird view, but the line "you've earned this, new purpose" could easily apply to the doctor of this animatic.

i remember watching the storyboard to this 2 years ago and thinking "this is unbelieavably good, i hope the artist finishes it" and holy shit it's finally here. incredible, fantastic, and absoutely worth the wait
The movie adaptation would be directed by either Sam Raimi or Tim Burton. Soundtrack would be a collab between Danny Elfman and Lemon Demon, and it would feature classic Elfman-era Oingo Boingo songs. Lemon Demon sounds even more Oingo Boingo-esque than Creature Feature!
Idk if I'm reading this wrong (cos from what I can tell there might be extra Lore I'm unaware of) but I like how in the final scene where the singer is falling apart in the doctor's hands he seems so worried and concerned - to the extent you might think he cares about them as a person. But once the singer is fully broken apart and he is holding their head in his hands his face becomes completely dispassionate, not sad but disappointed, showing how he was only concerned because his work was failing, not because someone he cared about was dying

When Beau was covered in those eyes and trying to escape them even when they were in his skin, I felt that. Even in such a short clip, his panic and terror was portrayed so viscerally I couldn't help but feel it too. There was a lotta moments I loved but that one just jumped out at me. Very good animatic :3

The doctor is like a father, he worked so hard to (re) create this person and after he accomplishes his goal, his creation dies, and he’s heartbroken.

this is the type of animation i’ve been looking for since 2020,, it perfectly matches everything i thought of when i used to make animatics to these songs in my head

HOLY DAMN I can't express how much I love this. Let me try. This is my (new) favorite song (I already loved it but I decided in the last 10 minutes that I would officially make it my favorite) so I was already primed to love this, but the RUclips search result gods have cheated me and hidden this from me until now. I didn't have a RUclips channel/account and never intended to (not a fan of whatever google's got going on), but I made one just now just to be able to comment here and tell you how much I *love* this. I *adored* the tiny details and how Beau Rose seemed so hesitant to be alive/almost willing to do back to death at times (at least that's what I'm interpreting based on the facial expressions). Holy SHIT this is amazing. I'm not done freaking out. I love this so so much.
Also I've got a massive fascination with mad scientists, they are my FAVORITE character archetype and I go wild for them platonically, so that may also play into my obsession with this because I'm a simple guy - I see mad science, I click. (I'm also assuming Victor is intentionally named after Frankenstein which is a magnificently cool detail to add.)
The description already says you probably spent 150 hours on this but holy shit I still don't know how you did it. This is magnificent. Please please please take my appreciation.
Do they have further backstories?? I checked out the ArtFight pages but my curiosity has far eclipsed a small character blurb.

I only recently became a fan of Lemon Demon and... well, I've seen a lot of animations, but this... this is really good. I remember one other animation that took one of his songs and made a whole story with original characters. I really like ones that do that, so, needless to say, I really like this one. I just hope it was worth it to you.
Thank you ! I’d say this was definitely worth it. I learned a lot while working on it and it really pushed me as an artist. I never really felt burnt out like many projects before it and it makes me really happy to see the final result.

Too many good moments to count but some notable moments from me... That shot starting at 1:52 made me giggle irl, and also the entire verse beginning with "This is your last try... ever" was HYPNOTICALLY animated. Okay, I already said that I love the characters on TikTok, but I feel like it's not enough, so here's a more detailed review?? Idk if that's the right word for this, English isn't my first language, so I might some make mistakes, sorry😅
So, I got recommended this video from another Lemon Demon animation, and this was my introduction to this song. AND I'M REALLY GLAD IT WAS, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ANIMATIC, I THINK I'VE WATCHED THIS VIDEO MORE THAN 20 TIMES IN A COUPLE OF DAYS, IT'S AMAZING!!! The animation is magnificent, and I really enjoyed finding some details I didn't notice the first time while rewatching (like the "y r u reading this" thing, Beau's name actually being on the chart, the stars spelling "Dead" (which I actually noticed only when I watched the storyboard), etc.)
As for Victor and Beau, I WANT TO KISS THEM BOTH SO MUCH, I ADORE THEM AND THEIR DYNAMIC. THEIR DESIGNS ARE ALSO GORGEOUS AND I FEEL LIKE NEIL'S VOICE FITS VIC PERFECTLY💕💕💕💕💕💕

Holy Hell, this is amazing, you REALLY understand how ot sync images with audio, it's perfect. The scenes perfectly fit the lyrics and tone of the song! This may no joke be one of the best animatics i've seen!
this comment is so fulfilling because a big chunk of time spent on this was trying to figure out how to animate with audio in a way that stays in sync. I can't begin to express how much of a headache it was. Seriously hours spent going insane.
