@@beetlebatmindless self indulgence is full of masterpieces. the sound of their music is so amazing, i love it to death. but the bands controversies make them maybe a bit risky to talk about. listening through frankenstein girls is such a unique experience though
@@beetlebat this is not a super popular one, but in a similar vein. there’s an artist called Bryan Scary who doesn’t get nearly enough love. A lot of his songs are little sci-fi/steampunk stories, and they slap to an unprecedented degree. He only has like 20k monthly listeners.

debunking just some things that stood out to me:
• the theory that two trucks was inspired from a car crash is actually not true, the idea came from nowhere
• the guy in i earn my life actually doesn't off himself, it's just (directly or indirectly, not entirely sure which) implied that he considers it
• the thing he falls in love with in amnesia was her name isn't actually his amnesia but the doctor treating him
• idk if you talked about goosebumps but that was also added to nature tapes with the 2019 re-release under needlejuice records
• this one isn't a debunk but the needlejuice records remasters are top-tier imo, it takes his old stuff and really makes them sound like they could be on the radio
• he released 2 singles last year called one weird tip and funkytown, these songs date back to 2017 as unreleased tracks but they're official now
• he's working on a new album and on one of his last streams he states that many of the songs are "pretty much done"

I discovered Lemon Demon a little while ago and I'm completely obsessed with it. I can't stop listening to these songs, so far my favorite album is View-Monster. All the songs are incredible and I'm amazed every time I listen to one of his songs. they are so unique. I wish I would be able to show Lemon Demon to my friends without them thinking I'm weird.

i've listened to the spirit phone commentary multiple times and it's about the legend of the mellified man, which was an old guy who supposedly only ate honey until his death so when his body broke down it would be a medicinal substance. neil decided that since the subject matter could be taken a weird way he decided to make the lyrics say that it's not sexual which he said "only made it worse" so yeah

@@beetlebat Like NGL I really didn't enjoy the video. You just summarized obvious song lyrics with barely any analysis or review, and some of the summaries are just flat out incorrect. I feel like you barely say anything meaningful about the band aside from parts where you go over its history.

I would recommend listening to some of his album commentaries as he explains a lot more about dinosaurchestra, Damn Skippy, spirit phone and a bit of view monster(it's also just interesting on it's own lol)

I had an assignment in my high school economics class to create a sales ad for a product. I chose to try to sell a Lemon Demon album because I was obsessed with Flash animations at the time, and Ultimate Showdown was the most viral. I discovered that Neil had made a few other songs under the band name and loved the vibe, so I chose to try "selling" his stuff to introduce my fellow geeks to it.

13:27 yes, actually, he worked on some of the preproduction for gravity falls, creating some demo theme songs that were eventually scrapped. there was one song that made it in, though, called Goat and a Pig, that plays during the credits of the episode The Love God (he didn't perform it in the episode but he did write it)

I have found he attracts kind of a similar crowd to Tally Hall, Will Wood, etc., but is significantly less well-known. I’m not sure how to describe his music, but I would highly recommend giving it a listen! It’s a bunch of short speculative fiction stories.

I highly disagree with your interpretation of a lot, if not most, songs. I suppose that is the beauty of art.
But one that stood out to me most is "The Machine". It is far from my favourite musically, but lyrically it is my favourite Lemon Demon song.
A lot of people have their own very varying interpretations of the song. I believe the machine could represent art and it's destruction an unfortunate tendency of people to destroy that what they don't understand even if it's harmless and beautiful.
What we do know is that the song idea came to Neil from the quote "What does it do?" "It doesn’t do anything. That’s the beauty of it.” that is reportedly a case of the Mandela Effect, where no one knows where it originally came from. Neil says he most likely first heard it on the Something Awful forum and made it into a song.
That is to say: I don't think that song is about nothing. At least a lot of people found a lot of meanings in it.

You should check out The Residents. I know, its pretty obvious why I am recommending this band with my PFP, you could say I am a huge fan of the band. Just listen to them (I'd say start with Duck Stab or the Commercial Album, but you can try Not Available if you are brave) and you will see why I absolutely love them.
