    #6th Ridel Glasses are my favorite now, but I use the Glencarin like everyone else. :) Thanks for doing a review on this whisky...

    Just a heads up. for $59 you can get Benromach 10 at the LCBO. There are 34 bottles at Queens Quay or available online. Ben 10 is one of the best value SM's there is and the LCBO price is the best I have seen in Canada (imagine that). Ralfy's Whiskey of the year for 2014. These bottles will not last a week at this price, especially with all of them available online.
    Cheers

    have u tried the new Glenrothes line? They have eliminated the vintages and reserve lines in favor of their new soleo range

      neil stucky I’ve tasted the 25 year old. That’s it though. Good?

      The new line is good, tho only sherry influenced. No more bourbon influence at all. The 1 and12 are very nice, and easy drinkers. To me the best is whisky makers cut. I think eliminating the vintages was/is a mistake

    In Winnipeg I probably bought the last two glencairn glasses - no sign of Norlan yet. Are they available in TO? Great review, Rob, I am a fan of Glenrothes. All the best,
    Mark

      There are some in the higher end malls like Yorkdale the store that had the Glencarin glass was Crate and Barrel. The Norlan Glass isn't in stores just yet. As far as I know anyway. Thanks for the support Mark. Cheers

    Nice review. $40 US here in PA. B plus is kind. Do people really warm up their whisky with their body temp?

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      Ya people will warm they're glass with there hand to (some believe) intensify the flavour. Cognac drinkers especially.

    • @triplecap4307
      @triplecap4307 8 лет назад

      Cognac isn't whisky.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      +Triplecap cognac is brandy from the region of Cognac in France. I'm just saying that cognac drinkers tend to do it frequently.

    • @triplecap4307
      @triplecap4307 8 лет назад +1

      Yes I know what cognac is and that people like those big snifters so the palm of the hand warms it up. I even have a couple for my rare cognac forays. Getting back to my original question, I just never heard of that in the SMS context. Looking forward to your next review.

    Although i'm no whisky expert but i know drinking a fine whisky should be drank properly out of a glass. not just any glass since i figure that on my own. so i secretly stumble across on Norlan glass by accident. when learning about a fine whisky glass should be accentuating strong aroma to the nose and not just ethanol. this will make the drinking experience much more pleasant! so i watch all the reviews about the Norlan glass and quickly blind purchased the set online! knowing it's popularity and the hype surrounds it, it makes me more excited and anticipating in receiving the set! hopefully i'll get to receive these in mid October!
    Update: On second thought here after receiving the set literally 7 hours ago, and have been trying it out with my 12 year old whisky. I have to say I did pick up aroma flavor from sniffing but I still got the ethanol burning the nose. Then when I try it on a plain glassware, I'm not smelling any difference... In my opinion, the glasses were charged tripled and the gimmicks weren't that spectacular as they claim in their website, but on the aesthetic standpoint, it's a work of art as the colored liquid is poured into a suspended doubled wall vessel.

      Are your regular glasses glencarin glasses. I like the Norlan but the Carin has my heart. Norlan may be a touch better though.

    • @3rd-Wave_Rebel
      @3rd-Wave_Rebel 8 лет назад

      No... I'm a newbie to this hobby so i'm no connoisseur. but to my nose, the norlan glass didn't enhance the aroma flavor or cutting down ethanol. Did I do something wrong? I did swirl the glass and sniff it afterward; nothing.

      It could simply be the whisky you're drinking. What's in the glass?

    • @3rd-Wave_Rebel
      @3rd-Wave_Rebel 8 лет назад

      Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or - Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 year old.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      That's actually a good 12 year old. Let it sit 12 mins in the glass before smelling and tasting.

    I've bought a bottle of the Glenrothes Select Reserve many years ago and did not like that. Last year I bought the Glenrothes 1995 for $109 and its ok. There are much better bottles out there for that price. I will not be buying Glenrothes products anytime soon, unless I taste a sample of something I like. I must say though, the best scotch I've had was the Glenrothes 1985 and that is nowhere to be found. I had 2 bottles about 10 years ago. As far as your new glass, I will pass. The lip is to thick and I believe its not glass. The glencairn has not failed me yet. Good review on both products.

      To each their own. The glass is really cool but I do like my glencarin as well. Cheers bud, thanks for watching.

    How would you compare the these to the glencairn ones?

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      It's pretty even. The Norlan might get the slight edge, but for the price it's well worth going with the Glencarin.

    • @japannippon4042
      @japannippon4042 8 лет назад

      Whisky In The 6 thanks, but do you think the norlan glasses is a bit overrated, I mean do you think the price is justified for a set of 2 which they charged for 86 dollar including shipping? For 86 bucks, I could buy 6 to 10 glencairn glasses.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      I do. I wouldn't have bought them. They were a gift so I get to enjoy them consequence free.

      Are the norlan glass currently the most expensive set?

      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      As far as I know.

  • @japannippon4042
    @japannippon4042 8 лет назад

    87 Canadian dollars exact for the set.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 лет назад

      That's obscene. I believe my brother in law paid 50 Canadian.

    • @japannippon4042
      @japannippon4042 8 лет назад

      no the set costs 48 dollar US + 17.52 shipping fee, then convert it into canadian dollar is roughly 86-87 dollar! yes it's insane for glasses!

    • @3rd-Wave_Rebel
      @3rd-Wave_Rebel 8 лет назад

      there is no way your brother in law got it for 50 Canadian, unless he got it (35 US) last year during the kickstarter program.
