I don't know, i don't think that is gonna happen a whole lot in your church in general (this is me speaking as a Roman Catholic, looking from the outside in), because you guys got a tight grip on the liturgy, western rite orthodoxy is meeting a lot of opposition for example. But little do people know that before the schism there were various liturgical expressions in the early church like in France for example. And there still are over here in the west but yeah.
I was born and raised in the mountains of Appalachia, and centuries of my ancestors are buried there. And now I am Orthodox. Our faith is the true faith for all peoples!
Glory to God. I’m from Harlan KY and converted to Orthodoxy years ago here in AZ. I’m always amazed and blessed to hear of the Orthodox faithful living or are from the Appalachia area. Christ is Risen!
Carry that torch sister!!! Beautiful music coming out of the Appalachian Orthodox. Makes me feel good to be an American!! We're singing your version tonight in our ROCOR parish in Las Vegas Nevada 😘☦️ It's absolutely stunning.
Was PA actually colonized by Anabaptists? A lot of their descendants live there, but they came as immigrants, not colonizers. I am part of a conservative Mennonite church, which observes most of the same Biblical teachings as the Orthodox church observes. These singers are beautiful! May God be praised!
You mean Mennonites they have very similar believes as orthodox Christians and you would hardly notice the difference besides the fact they think it is a sin to use technology that keeps them away from the community
As a non-Appalachian American, this still speaks deeply to my soul. It is representative of who we are as a people. I have always had respect for songs like “Amazing Grace” but it is wonderful to hear the style applied to Orthodox chants. Glory to God! May America become Orthodox ❤️☦️🙏🏼

The Appalachian area is referring to the Appalachian Mts. so that means that this area goes in the Northern area of NY state all of the way South to South Carolina, right? Lining all along the Eastern Coast of the U.S.A. This would be such a blessing to be able to live with Orthodox people who are living in a rural, farm & self-sustaining community! I'm just wondering if there's any part of this Appalachian area that is also English speaking. The music is beautiful. What a blessing to see Orthodox believers living together in a community! I'm in my 60s but this is very appealing to me! Christ is risen! ☦☦☦🕊🕊🕊

This is very beautiful. It is a worthy sacrifice of course, but in ways I have had to loosen my attachment to my English heritage to be reunited with the Church our nation was cut off from. I have always been touched by hearing the Lord's prayer said in all the different languages, with us having our ethnicities, and them being blessed, but being united in the most important identity as Christians. While I respect the spiritual aesthetic tradition of Orthodoxy, and the Byzantine chant has important theological meaning, I am still as an Anglo deeply attached to the emotional cadence of my people, and the Anglo-Scotch Appalachian musical tradition captures this, and the sacred harp and English hymn traditions which this song here reflects. So, united with the Church, I hear the sound of my people reflected, and it is very beautiful to me, it has brought out some tears. Thank you to whoever wrote this. Is it a particular traditional melody you went by?
America will someday have its own autocephalous Orthodox church as well as melodies informed by our country’s devoted Christian heart, not merely transplanted or imitative music from Europe.
