Thank you! I've been using Ukualiens for years now! I so appreciate all you've done.
That is fab to hear, Thanks Julie.
Thanks Rachel. You got me so excited about the Risa, it's on it's way. It is absolutely the best looking coolest uke around. Waiting for it is painful. All the best, rock on.
Hope it's arrived by now Loree - I have to say I LOVE mine!!
Hi Rachel, You are really very good at what you do. Thoroughly enjoyed your coverage of these Ukes, A pleasure to watch, Thank you.
Thank you kindly Steve for you lovely comment, so glad you enjoyed.
Just bought The Pathfinder. Should arrive soon. You have such a great way of explaining the tech! Thanks very much!
Hopefully you are already rocking your Pathfinder Mark. Thanks for the lovely comment.
Great video! Love your ukuleles!
Thanks Doodica, it was a fun video to make TBH.
Excellent informative vid, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! A vid that I really wanted to update and I did have great fun making this one!
Recently I had a chance to try a multi-effects pedal. It was a loaner from a neighbor. It's called the Sonicake Rockstage. It has distortion, delay, reverb, and chorus. I really wanted to like it, but to my ear it sounded bad in that grimacing kind of way, even with a LOT of tweaking. 😬 My neighbor likes it, though, so I wouldn't say it's not worth trying, especially since it's quite inexpensive. Anyway, today the adventure continues! I ordered my first single effects pedal: a mini Tube Screamer. I hope I have as much fun with it as you do with yours. It may be a gateway drug to my very own mini pedal board, and, if so, it's all your fault. LOL!
I can see you have already made a start on the pedalboard Jules but I agree, I think it is very hit and miss with the multi fx pedals. They made me have a play with effects to start with but they really are quite fiddly and yes, some just sound baaaaaaaad! Blame me for it all, just remember - Why do you need it...............
Another wonderful entertaining and informative video. So much choice out there in ukulele land 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it Ian, I really did have fun making this one.
I now want a rock ukulele,,,!!!!!!, I already have 5 .
But just not a solid body rock one . I think your lessons are giving me some kind ukulele alian fever. But again I am loving your down to earth lessons.
I to am a rockingbass player at 50 plus . And left to my own devices, could play for an hour or more. :)
Loved your comment Amber, so glad you are loving the uke as much as me, it really is fun!
Thank you!!! All your videos Rock!🤙🏾
Glad you like them, Thanks for the lovely comment.
You’re amazing. Love your videos. So clear and simple for this old girl to understand.
My pleasure Trish, very glad to be helping! 😊
Hi Rachel, Thanks so much for your videos! I think you're pretty much the only person on the web who explains amps and such without assuming previous knowledge (I say this because I spent about 2 weeks trying to figure out pickups and amps...). I'd really be interested in a comparison of passive VS active pickups on electroacoustic ukes, and whether or not it makes sense to use a preamp for passive ones. I'm a professional musician but only picked up the ukulele very recently. It's great fun, even for small-handed people like me :)
Thanks for the lovely comment, and yes very often as a teacher I do assume very little knowledge is know which really helps here on the channel and totally agree it’s necessary. I will certainly look at doing a comparison of passive / active EA ukes. Personally I have found they each have their place - through mixers, wireless etc. Great suggestion. Thanks 😊
Love my Les Paul-style Gold Top Flight Centurian ukulele. I lucked out. mine did not need a whole lot of setup out of the box other than better strings (D'Addario NYXL 10-52) I play mine out of a Vox AD30VT solid state/tube hybrid and sometimes out of my Boss Katana.
Very nice and great to hear you are happy. I have been tempted to get a Ceturion but it's very hard to justify as I have a Risa LP so it really would only be for comparison purposes. Keep rocking yours!
That Risa! 😍 Thanks for the exhaustive explanation! I made the mistake of buying an Epiphone Les Paul as my first uke… 😒
I've got to say Anna, the Risa really is quality and lovely to play. Hope you are well and Thanks as always for your lovely comments.
@@UkuleleWales Thanks to you! 😘
Fantastic overview of electric ukuleles! I own a few electric acoustic and eying the Flight vanguard (also a big fan of purple!). Where do you get steel electric tenor ukulele strings? This is the one aspect that’s making me pause before buying the Vanguard. Love your reviews! Thanks!
Thanks 😊
You use regular electric guitar strings (the top 4) so it makes it really easy to buy strings. I show me changing them here. ruclips.net/video/jphlP_xkfUU/видео.html
I have the same Uk Harley Benton ! This is my First Uk
Nice. I hope you are enjoying playing it. 👍
really coollllll
Thanks :-)
I have the risa lp uke, but its the soprano with the concert neck...i use my little ammoon pockrock through it..i love it 😀
I have to say,I am loving the Risa too. Very impressed so far!
cool
This is a very useful and understandable, thank you. But my main question is that I'm thinking of buying a Kala STGE-C electro/acoustic tenor. My question is would the instrument sound the same as a plain acoustic if played not plugged in? 👍
Yes, absolutely the same as an acoustic if not plugged in - the best of both worlds. 👍
Irig And amplitude on iPad is brilliant.
Hi Dave, yes, used the irig a lot but not used amplitude. Shall have to check it out.
Hi Rachel 😊 TYVM for your great videos... really really helpful 🙏🙏
I was wondering would it be possible to use some steel strings on your husband's cheap Harley Benton electric uke?
Do you think it would play any better with them?
Thanks for the lovely comment. No, steel strings would not work with it as it has a piezo pick so really only works with nylon strings. Hope that helps. 👍
Thank you 🎅💜
Do video on playing Love Gun by kiss, on electric uke.
Maybe one day, need to up my playing skills a bit I think. 👍
Hey Rachel which one is the best to buy that goes with dj sets , pathfinder one ?
If it's pop / rock sets you are playing then yes, I would say the Pathfinder or one of the solid body electric ukuleles.
Hi Rachel, i am looking for a new Tenor ukulele, & want something similar to my Enya nova u pro which sounds good and has built in amp for when i am away from home but sounds ok when not being used electrically. Do you have any suggestions ? opinions.
I have looked at th Ibanez uict10 & the Fender Jazzmaster but neither have a built in amp and feel i get the best of several worlds with my Enya .
Thank you in advance .
lloniannau
TBH I'm not a fan of either Fender or Ibanez ukes, they both make great guitars and basses but fall short with their ukes. Take a look at the Flight Soundwave series, they might suit you? flightmusic.com/product/flight-victoria-soundwave-tenor-ukulele/
I need a Risa Rachel! 😂
Tuning question: tuned exactly the same as an acoustic uke or is the G string on the electric tuned to the lower G?
Low G on these solid body electric ukuleles. The electro acoustics have both. 👍
@@UkuleleWales ok so to be clear, solid body G string is tuned to the lower G but the electro acoustic can go either way: standard uke tuning OR lower G. Right??
So from where did you buy them Rachel and how much?
I bought both of these from the Southern Ukulele Store. Both are in stock if you want to check out their current prices.
how do you know what strings are supposed to go on them? I got one of the flight centurions but I can't find anywhere that says what the stringsd should be 😳😳😳
Hi, you can use the first 4 strings from a regular guitar strings set 10 - 46 guage. Hoping to do a video on changing strings very soon.
@@UkuleleWales heres an note for anyone reading this-
PLEASE DO NOT PUT STEEL STRINGS ON A NYLON ACOUSTIC IT WILL SNAP THE NECK
OK, I give up! What is that LED display which seems to be changing randomly?
LOL! I am only laughing because t is asked so often. It's a decible reader - the higher the numbers, the louder the room volume.
@@UkuleleWales Ah, thanks for that - it's so obvious now that you've told me... :)
I’ve been wanting to ask that for weeks..thanks for asking 🤣
I'll be honest.electric is so cool looking!and accepted by people who don't understand ukes
Totally agree Jim. Some of the kids in school have started playing uke because they wanted to go electric - but of course start on acoustic. ;-)
Where can they be brought,
Hi, bought my Risa and Flight ukes from Southern Ukulele store but you can get electric and electro aboustic ukes from many shops.
Electric Ukuleles tend to be easier to learn on cause they're a bit smaller.
I'm not a guitarist so for me it was more just swapping from acoustic ukulele to both tyoes of electric too.
@@UkuleleWales However I've swapped from Solid Body Electric to Acoustic by having my acoustic heavily converted to have a thinned body.
I have a solid electric ukulele pathfinder flight Pioneer steel strings but Im having trouble tuning it I really would like it to be a standard tuning but I'm scared of the G string breaking, I do have it on low G but I'm not happy about it, so is it possible to tune my ukulele to the standard tuning or is it not possible?
Hi, you won't be able to tune the existing low G string an octave higher as it would snap but there is a possibility that you could put a thinner gauge string and tune it to high G. I haven't done it personally so not 100% sure which would be the best replacemt string. Possibly ask in a guitar shop.
Hi, if you haven't found your answer yet I use a D'Addario PLO11 (0.279mm) steel string for a high G and it works great
👍🏻👍🏻💯💛🧡💕
Thanks
getting a really cool one by busking to get the money
Awesome to hear, I used to do a LOT of busking when I was younger. Hope you manage to busk your way to one soon! 👍
@@UkuleleWales i got a bohemian oil can ukulele with the money!
Hey, Rachel. Are you British?
Yes, I am. Welsh / British 🏴
