I have had a looper for a couple of years, but been afraid to use it. But I think it's time to dig it out. Big thanks
Go for it Mike, they are GREAT fun!
I'm seeing a practical use for a looper with our ukulele group! Once again you have been super useful.
Glad it was helpful and yes, looprs are a great asset.
I've purchased a looper for a small but hopefully growing uke club. I was thinking it'd be fun to just lay down a rhythm pattern, even counting chord changes to get everyone used to playing in time and give me a chance to pause and show players the chord shapes but keep a groove going.
Yes, this video gave me an idea of how a looper works and it was great fun watching your video. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it and you find it helpful. 👍
I SO love your videos! I'm new to the world of ukulele, and I always get such a great education from your videos. Plus, your accent is great! 😁👍
Thank You for the lovely comment. It really does make me smile when I know I am helping. The accent, I try and speak slowy on videos! LOL
6:09 "you can't really go wrong": challenge accepted!
Winning comment of the day, made me laugh out loud! Thank You LOL
Thank you for this! This is much clearer for me now.
You're so welcome! Loopers are great fun.
You are an invaluable uke angel. Thank you for becoming my teacher in life and uke.
Wow, thank you! Very much appreciated your lovely comment.
Another great video Rachael very informative this is the channel I enjoy most on you tube for ukulele .
Thank You so much Margaret, I was smiling all day when I saw your lovely comment.
Brilliant! Thank you for this! I’ve been interested in these little mystery boxes for a while, and now I feel confident enough to get one and play around. 😊
Very glad to be helping Amy. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Great tutorial, very helpful!
Glad it was helpful, loopers are great fun.
Nice! Thanks for explaining it so easy👏🏽🤗
Glad to have helped, these are great fun.
That seems like a lot of fun! Great introduction to Looper Pedals for this noob! Thank you!
Glad you liked it and hopefully it will encourage you! ;-) Yes, fantastic fun.
Nice straightforward explanation of the concept cool stuff!
Much appreciated, Thanks Andy
getting a pedal soon and I'm so excited to get to use it :) binging all of your pedal videos now
Awesome to hear, Thanks.
Thank you, this is exactly what I needed. I have that Ditto, but I’ve never been able to get it right. Now I am inspired to go try again.
Glad it was helpful and you can now have a go of yours. Have fun!
Very good and well put together lesson on looper, thank you.
You're very welcome, glad it helped.
This is sooo good Thank you. I’ve had a loop pedal for well over a year, didn’t know how to use it. Now I will go and experiment. I’ve been wanting to play around with melodies over chords, now I (hopefully) will be able to. X
Yes, looper pedals are great. They need a bit of getting used to, but once mastered are fantastic to use. Have fun Eileen. :-)
Thanks. My brand new looper arrived today and found your video a perfect introduction. About to go live!
Have fun with it Martin, they are such a great tool.
Great video!!!
Glad you liked it, Thanks.
You are a very sweet considerate lady. You do wonderful with your Ukulele channel. I thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
I just found your channel. Love the videos so far and you have a great energy :) I just ordered my first electric ukelele and an amp to go with it. I've been playing my accustic ukelele for a couple years now and love it. Can't wait to have some fun with the electronic effects.
Thanks Mike and so glad you discovered the channel! Hope you are having fun with your new gear.
My ukulele teacher has told me about these. But I haven’t tried it yet. thanks so much !
They are great Bonnie, you can do so many different things with them.
Hi Rachel, just bought a looper and found your video really useful… thanks 🙏
Hi David, loopers are great fun. So glad you dound the video helpful.
This is so good. I've been craving a looper and also feeling intimidated. So now I'm just craving one, and I have a birthday coming up soon. Thanks so much for this!
Thought you might enjoy this one Cate and so glad you are no longer intimidated. So that is brithday sorted! ;-)
@@UkuleleWales It is! Because even though my husband ordered it, I'm the one that gets the order confirmation emails from Amazon!
Your a lovely teacher.... I'm in my sixties and have just bought a looper for my ukes and you have helped me understand looping perfectly. I can't find anyone to play with ( all our clubs closed due to covid ) so I thought looping would give me a sensation of playing with someone else. Thanks
Thanks Janet, loved reading your comment and very glad to be helping.
Very informative and educational video. I have a looper by Lekato that also doubles as a tuner. Still trying to figure it out. it is very much like the TC Electronic Ditto.
Glad it was helpful Troy, have seen the Lekato loopers and have consdiered one. All the loopers take a bit of getting used to and practice but are a great tool once you get the hand of it.
Fantastic video! Subscribing. TY
Thanks for the sub, so very glad you enjoyed.
Thabk you Racheal Iv had one ages but didnt know how to try it 😢
Woo hoo. Glad to have helped Denise. 👍
Thanks. Your a great teacher. How does it connect up to other equipment, amp, cables, connections etc
Hi, apologies for the late reply, we are back in school and it's a bit crazy. You run a cable from the output to an amp and you plug the ukulele into the input or another pedal infront of it. Hope that helps.
This is something I’m interested in and thanks for the review. Can I ask about the setup, I presume in is Uke to looper out to amp?
Glad you enjoyed. Yes, in is uke, out is amp. Have fun!
I started following your bass videos and have now gone all over the place. Questions?
What’s in the bag video-what is the brand of iPad holder you show?
I have a passive pick up on my instrument, do I need a preamp and do you have a recommendation if needed?
Loved this comment Stephanie!!
The ipad holder is this or similar (I like it because it actually fits in it's own bag) www.amazon.co.uk/Tripod-Adjustable-Rotating-Tablets-Carrying-Black/dp/B08HLR9C1Z/
I have 2 passive pick up amps and I don't use a pre-amp on either as I haven't needed to. TBH, I don't use the inbuilt eqs on my active ukes as I find them a fiddly and actually prefer the passives. Hope that helps.
I just bought the Lekato looper for only $55. It has alot of useful features. Many YTbers give it high reviews.
I've seen many reviews and have considered it but have recently bought a drum maching / looper pedal. How are you finding the Lekato looper?
@@UkuleleWales It’s great…. Super easy and neat with the light on the screen. It is also a tuner all in one.
Awesome video! I just got an acoustic electric uke with an Amp. Question... how do you plug it in? Do you plug the uke to the looper and then to the Amp? OR how does that work exactly? Do I need anything other than my electric uke and Amp?
Great question. You plug your uke into the “in” socket and then another goes from the out socket into your amp so you need amp, uke, pedal 2 jack cables and something to power the pedal - often a battery. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks Rachel - as always very informative. Can I ask a question though? When you are satisfied with your loop, can you save it as an MP3?
Hi Pam, Thanks. I did think you could but I checked, not on THIS model. I know there are loopers out there though where you definitely can save the loops as MP3s. I will definitely look for this feature when buying another looper.
Thanks Rachel
Very nice🤗! Is it possible to combinate the uke and a base uke together on the loop pedal? I mean with plugging in and out.
Hi Henri, great question! In theory, yes, you can overdub and you could swap instruments inbetween overdubbing, either by unplugging uke then plugging in bass uke or even using a switch pedal. I'm also pretty sure it's possible to get loopers where you can plug in multiple instruments but I'd have check this out as I'm not 100% sure!
@@UkuleleWales Thank you for the reply. In the meantime I have discovered that it is possible to connect 2 instruments with the DITTO STEREO LOOPER ruclips.net/video/X41HnBhtO9Q/видео.html . Kind regards !.
Thanks v much
for this video. Can you pre record the melody and save it on the looper before a gig? How many times can you over dub?
Great question. I know many artists who pre record stuff using loopers, I'd have to check about the overdubs but I *think* it's unlimited until your time s used up. You can also get looper pedals with several channels for different loops to be played simultaneously.
@@UkuleleWales Fab thank you!
What was the walking blues progression you were playing at 13 minutes? I've invested in a portable amp and loop pedal and looking to venture into trying to overdub some melodies to my uke playing.
Hi, it's a simple 12 bar blues in the key of C. I've done a video here on it (apologies, it's an early video so the audio is pretty bad)

Hello, i love your ukulele, what is it ? I know it's a Snail UKC but cant find the exact one.
Great video by the way, i'd love to get started on looper
Hi, it's the - Snail SR-04 CEQ Solid Acacia Electro Acoustic Concert Ukulele - only available from Southern Ukulele. A lovely uke to play with a really sweet sound. Thanks for the interest.
@@UkuleleWales Thank you for the answer !
May I ask how you have setup your "signalchain", by which I mean what is your ukulele connected to (very likely the looper or perhaps an amp), what is your looper connected to? (Very likely a mixer), what do you play your loops through? (Very likely monitors connected to the mixer). It is just so one can get a feel for the needed gear, cables, amps etc.
If you have covered this in another video, please accept my apologies and kindly direct me to it.
BTW I came to this video from the other video on the Ditto looper, starting with the bass layer.
Hi, I don't use a mixer in my videos. Sometimes I use the looper by itself so it would be ukulele - looper pedal - amp or sometimes the looper pedal will sit on a pedal board but I always put the looper last in the chain of the pedals. Most basic - looper pedal (plus power), amp, 2 cables (in and out) and ukulele. Hope this helps.
Hello! Can you play Leonard Cohen's hallelujah on ukulaliens? I want play Hallelujah...
I agree, great song. There is already a play along by Dr Jill Reese, hope that is okay. ruclips.net/video/VQNzHsn0kTM/видео.html
I have a crazy question and I am hoping that you can help as you seem to know lots about what I am doing. My wife and kids bought me a Vox amp for my birthday. However it buzzes like crazy. If I touch a screw on the amp the buzz stops. The amp does have a grounding screw on the back. Does this sound like a grounding issue and should I run a wire from the screw to an outlet? Any help that you can give me would be awesome.
Hi Craig, I have some questions, have you tried different instruments / cables? Does the amp buzz without anything plugged in? Which VOX amp is it? Sorry for the questions but it could be so many things.
@@UkuleleWales it buzzes with nothing plugged in. It's the Vt20x modeling amp. I think I may know how to fix it. The power supply isn't grounded so I have ordered a grounding cable and I am going to see if that works when I connect it to the grounding screw. Thank you so much for getting back to me. I absolutely love your videos. You are quite possibly the coolest person on the internet. Your videos have inspired me to get creative with my ukulele and fall in love with it.
Hi. Do you always start and stop (click the pedal) on the one count?
I do tend to press to start on 1 and then also stop on 1 and this seems to work. It does take a bit of practice but it's only by trying (and sometime failing) that we get the hang of things.
