Hey Ryan, I'm from Queensland Australia and I love to watch your videos. I'm just a beginner but I go spearfishing whenever I can and try my best to implement some of your hunting skills. Keep it up.
Stoked on your and Justin’s placements! Seen a bunch of hammahs participating on social media. Crazy with all the weapon spearos in the National’s that you and Justin are still in the top 5%. Even while competing with a ton of animal Hawaii locals.. 🔥🙌🏾 Btw literally jumped outta bed to watch this vid on the big TV. 😂😂🤙🏾🔥
Absolutely stoked for you guys! Going out there and showing why you guys are the best all while having a competition between friends. Hope you both get invited to worlds!!
Sam’s advice was great! You learn so much by competing! Even though everyone is super competitive, after all is said and done most people are good people tournaments help you learn loads!
I feel your pain, lost to my friend in the sub junior section of the Australian Nationals by 10g. Basically me instinctively bleeding the fish lost me the comp. Keep up the good work!
Super cool seeing you guys at the coffee shop in holualoa today. Love all the videos. Looking forward to the video when you go out at hokulia. I gotta get back into diving just been doing a lot more fishing lately. No dive partners any more. All my friends moved.
What an excellent example of how invasive species take over. That was a fantastic job by all to help boost native endemic species back to their environment
Big MAHĀLO to RMX FOR SHARING THIS CHAMPIONSHIP FREE DIVE COMPETITION OFF OF ANAIHO’OMALU BAY OFF WAIKOLOA GREAT CONTENT GREAT CAUSE SUPER TO SEE SAM YOU AND JUSTIN UP AGAINST MANY MANY GREAT UP AND COMING DIVERS TILL NEXT TIME MAHĀLO 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

Wow Fort Bragg, my stomping grounds for Ling cod and rock fish. Plus the opportunity a few years ago for abalone as well. Good good job guys Cheers from California.
“Doesn’t matter If you win by an inch or a Mile, winnings winning” Vin diesel fast and the furious. “If you’re not first your last “Ricky Bobby. So happy to be from this generation 😂 🤙🙌
Hello im a very big fan of your vloggs videos. Can i ask if what film editor did you use to edit your vloggs? I very like the underwater shots of yours. Coz Its very clear and smooth motions
Hey Ryan, have a question for ya. This is one of the only times where you aren't wearing a black wetsuit in your videos. Noticed a lot of wetsuits geared towards spearfishing are ocean camouflage or even "fish patterns" like Venture wetsuits. With all constraints the same (diver's ability, etc.) do you think the color of your wetsuit makes a difference - however slight or significant?
So, everyone is diving without safety divier there? I like kayak idea, makes spearfishing much more affordable and eco friendly, but need a partner on a second kayak.
I bet it was on his mind and that’s why one of the first things he said while paddling back to weigh ins was ” nobody died”. It also looked like he and Sam paddled in together and we’re close. But it’s safe to assume they weren’t following the one up one down too closely.
@spearavida. Really enjoyed this video Ryan. You truly are an expert tactician. I particularly loved both the personal and competitive aspect of your friendship with Justin. Bravo 👏
It's awesome that so many invasive's were taken out! One thing I was surprised to see was that people appeared to be diving solo? Are they really encouraging that at the highest level of competition, or is that a misconception?
Whats up man I thought we were getting new videos weekly, you changed your system and blah blah. Hey man just put out a dive video don't get all fancy. If it ain't broke don't fix it. We all love the videos you post. No need to change things
Rayn you are a great competitor and spearfishing champion. But please give back to the sport. You did not show the other competitors getting their trophies or the scores. I competed in the Kona national in the 80s against Terry Mosss who gave you your trophy, I finished 6th. I dove head to head against him for hours until I moved to the shallows and he beat me. Look up John Ernest a great diver that everyone hated. Don't be one that guy I know you do not answer comments on your videos. START. Please give back to the sport.
Something about a man telling another man what he needs to do piss’s me off, he’s giving back by furthering the sport, getting youth excited wanting to be a champion one day, everybody has social media if you put in the work you’ll make a name for yourself. Bro is doing the sport nothing but good 🤙🏼
Shooting such small fish...could you not have ditched the reel and just freeshafted? Or just use a sling or pole spear? Seams like it would have saved a ton of time an energy reloading the gun.
I have to say I don’t like this format. Competitive diving that doesn’t promote a buddy system is very dangerous. Your quote of “nobody died that we’ve heard of” should be redundant and unnecessary
Congratulations to all of you. You all did great! And more importantly, you cleaned up the reef. Mahalos.
Congratulations Justin, Ryan and Samogram!! You guys are number one in my book!! All the best in internationals which I hope to see on your channel!!!
Congratulations to all who Competed ! Everyone came back safe and Blessed.

That was badass! Y’all are all beasts 💪
anyone else notice that guy putting his arm around sam and when the camera got put on them he took it off.
Absolutely stoked for you guys! Going out there and showing why you guys are the best all while having a competition between friends. Hope you both get invited to worlds!!

That’s tough
17:35 they look so awkward after the camera got out on them in the back like they were doing something wrong.
Super cool seeing you guys at the coffee shop in holualoa today. Love all the videos. Looking forward to the video when you go out at hokulia. I gotta get back into diving just been doing a lot more fishing lately. No dive partners any more. All my friends moved.
Noone looses with that many roi's taken off the reef. The amount of talent at that event is amazing.
What an excellent example of how invasive species take over. That was a fantastic job by all to help boost native endemic species back to their environment

You are still my number one bro.. cheers
Great job on spearing fish ...next time gotta keep those fish that got away. Gotta show your teammates diving too. Nice video!
Toe-au pronounced brotha 🤙🏾🤙🏾 always killer footage
Damn, paddled from waikoloa to keauhou? That’s a challenge in itself.
Hey, honest question: are the reefs around 8:00 bleached, or is it just white because of the depth?
Hey Ryan, have a question for ya.

Makes zero difference. Just wanted to find a 1.5 mm for tournament day and this was the only color I could find.
Such a great event, our first one! And stoked to officially meet you guys and some of the other legends! 💯🥷🏽⚒️🤙🏾🤙🏾
FNG 🤙🏼
Hey any link or details on your kayak setup?
So, everyone is diving without safety divier there? I like kayak idea, makes spearfishing much more affordable and eco friendly, but need a partner on a second kayak.
I was wondering the same, and would love to hear Ryan's thoughts on diving solo.
I bet it was on his mind and that’s why one of the first things he said while paddling back to weigh ins was ” nobody died”. It also looked like he and Sam paddled in together and we’re close. But it’s safe to assume they weren’t following the one up one down too closely.

Bro would love to go spearfishing with you. I live in Kona
congrats!
are you allowed to use a fish finder on kayaks for championships?

Sick music!
How did Sam do ?
Soo good
Love your videos man, but curious, why not dispatch the fish?
As you see he lost by a .5 lb , gotta keep every drop inside those fishies
Oddly satisfying seeing those roys getting plucked off the reef
A half a pound difference!? Talk about an awesome event with even better friends
How did Sam do??? And you competed in the couples team category, we didn't hear about that either! We need to know Ryan!
Dude you’re an absolutely sniper. What gun are you using in this video ?
Hey, every thought about coming to Guam? Love your vids! Hit me up if you every decided to
Lol. Dang that's rough. 1/2 pound. But if I had to lose to someone, I'd be glad it was Justin.
Whats up man I thought we were getting new videos weekly, you changed your system and blah blah. Hey man just put out a dive video don't get all fancy. If it ain't broke don't fix it. We all love the videos you post. No need to change things
How long does it take to learn how to hold your breathe for 5 min
What is the average breathe hold of a Spearfisherman?
You are allowed to drop anchor on top the live coral?
That's a big 1/2 pound. Lol. Good one
16:06 left hanging
Bro the reefs look dead
and then sam takes his arm off her shoulder a little sus
Escrofalos?, jajajaja. Comgratulations Ryan!!!!!!!!!

you could of at least dispatched them Instead of letting them suffer! 😑
Great, but kill the fish before put them in the fridge 😉
Can’t win when they stealing fish from peoples bag 🙊🙉🙈

well said. We competed in these Nationals too and we were shocked that we were the only ones enforcing the buddy system.
