The big thing about Solo Leveling is that it is more "business" than its contemporaries. It's a mostly clean, tight story with little in the way of extraneous elements. It's not perfect, but it's an excellent first action manhwa offering for people unfamiliar with the genre. Assuming no production hiccups (fingers crossed) it should do well this season.

As someone who has read the entire series. This has been the most faithful adaptation of an anime I've ever seen. I can easily see this getting animated a year.

It would've made a much MUCH stronger first impression for the anime-onlys!
I got devastated hearing that japanese would adapt the novel into their names and cultures, highly possible, leaving plot holes there. I learned to find after it aired that there was two separate dub versions, which did save a lot of rage over another korean manhwa/webtoon adaptations just overall sucking. Since I've read the manhwa (its a masterpiece of art, the illustrator put heart, soul, sweat and tears into Sung JinWoo looking at its best, despite being a sick person). So when i saw the first episode, I was happy. I heard the openings and endings I was screaming where the entire 3 houses could hear me in late evening/night. And you know what? I think I screamed almost the entire 2nd episode, not expecting it to be *that* good. Personally what I'm trying to say, if you open or discover something, with close to no expectations, you actually come to enjoy it, for whatever it is, and i think its a beauty in itself having abused this trick many times :) On the non reader, new AOT debate: AOT also needed few episodes to kickstart the story properly, otherwise, how will you start the story, world build AND introduce the main character all in one episode? Everything needs its pace where you hear just enough of everything to keep you on edge, craving for more, without being too brief and boring. Bonus note: many screams were created by discovering that first episode introduction followed the novel, rather than manhwa (in manhwa we have brief gate introduction, and Sung JinWoo before he heads into the double dungeon). In my honest opinion, you can't go wrong with any anime *already* starting in the middle of some important fight, and telling you the story through a flashback... unless its too long or too filler infoed :p. AMAZING video as always! You know how to hit the spot EVERY time man! I would have also predered it if they had combined the 2 episodes in one. You're the Best🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Personally the first and second episode and potentially third should be 1 Hr and then stick to you 30 min episodes until the final episode which should be 1 hour
I'm gonna be honest, I watched the first episode and decided to read the entire manwa just out of curiosity. It does get and stay pretty good rather quickly, but the beginning transition from what just happened in the anime to when it starts to get good is extremely bland imo. Expect a mediocre episode or 2 after these first 2, and then it'll start picking up the pace.
First episode left me cold as in uninterested. The second episode, while much better, wasn't great and with a by-the-numbers cliffhanger. To be completely honest, I am trying to find any good reason why I should believe the hype and bother to check out the "I-know-what-comes-next' predictable future of this anime (weak MC is coming back from the death or near death as the greatest OP hero ever and will have Arifureta/Danmachi-like quests while collecting waifus, right?).
the heck man. its not any of those things you mentioned. the mc comes back alive but hes not op at all. he has to work hard for it so every monsters/enemies he face were all stronger than him. that’s a life check that even though he worked hard its still not enough so it will still be frustrating for him. collecting waifus? the fck? its not even harem to begin with, he doesnt give a fck about any girls honestly. also, he doesnt get all oh shes hot ill take her. its hyped because of the action sequences portrayed in the manhwa
The MC gets only a single woman, *no* harem whatsoever. Its just a *simplistic* story and it was just hyped up because of how the Manwha presented itself There are tons of other manwha in terms of story (And art), that are much more greater
I'm more a fan of the web novel. It really helped me when I had self-doubts during my trainee days. I actually think the manhwa was a bad adaptation and I like the animé adaptation more. But everyone has their own preferences...
To be honest there are a ton of manhwa and LN stories on this premise. It can be down right agony trying to find good ones if its your thing. Me I check em out see if I'll like them and follow them if I'm interested. My favorite is "I Stole the Number One Ranker's Soul". It starts off very slow, as in your not starting to get invested till around ch10 but by ch25 your hooked. I'm actually not all that into Solo Leveling but I can get why some like it. I think I might have liked if I wasn't so burnt out on OP male protagonists. I'm not saying there are too many or anything but last season was a bit saturated and so this is in the "I'll watch it when its done and I just want to watch something" box for now.
so it seems everybody has the same take the first 2 episodes should of been in a 1 hour special, with that said now that those 2 episodes are out of the way its literally a sprint of action from now till the end of the series.
Honestly, it's a reused premise, worlds weakest turns into a beast. We've seen it in tons of anime, it's nothing new. Couple it with extreme violence and mix in a little intrigue and we've got the formula for a dollar printing machine. So far though, it's not exactly a series I'm waiting for with baited breath each time a new episode goes live. The series 7th loop did more in 23 minutes to hook me than this did with over an hour of animation so far. Now, let's give the series some credit, so far it's just been world building and giving a teaser on what we can expect; and that's how I'm going to take these first episodes as. Now that they've established their premise, it's time to start delivering on what all the hype is about. The series isn't unwatchable or unenjoyable yet, but for all the hype, I'm not seeing what's so special about it.
pretty much that, This isnt a Japanese series and originally came out around a decade ago, it started a lot of trends similar in manwha as well. Solo leveling is just a korean power fantasy that does its job well, and people loved that. But because of that people are getting their expectations too high i feel.
I've listened to the audiobook version to the latest release. The story is the king of mid. I have no idea why everyone is losing their minds over this. The only thing that will help this in the anime is a very high quality of animation because the plot and characters just doesn't boost this into the low end of good.
@@Flavor190 Does it change any of the key plot points, characters, the power systems or key fights? Or does it just have pictures to go with it? I don't mind light novel style writing or how brief it can be. But I've read similar stories to this many times before and nothing was new or exciting. It was just functional which is fine. Being mid is better than half of everything, and I called it the King of Mid which is almost into the top 30% by my standards.
@@xoso599 I guess that makes sense if you’re sick of the op protagonist manga. I can see how solo leveling would be disappointing. I like that type of story so solo leveling is my standard of how I rate those types of manga. I think you might like Skeleton Soldier Couldn’T Protect The Dungeon over this as it’s an op protagonist but there’s a build up to it.
It’s a hype anime, that’s all it is. It’s the type of anime where you watch it screaming and pumping your fist in the air as if you’re watching your favourite sport. It doesn’t have a super deep meaning, it’s not a mystery anime, and it’s not complicated at all. Kinda like demon slayer, but way more edgy. That’s why i love it.
thats pretty much the point of the series. Its a korean novel turned manhwa that came out around 10 years ago. Its a power fantasy that does its job well but isnt much beyond that. People loved that when reading it so it generated hype, problem is its setting up poeple's expectations too much because for Japanese stories and manga, power fantasies arent liked very much and can be considered oversaturated. its somewhat of a different audience thats expecting something else since these types stories are liked a lot more as manhwas
well yes because its for a different audience. i have read and enjoyed solo leveling so much from start to finish so i could say it was special for me. not because its the best story out there but because it was my first one. the good thing about solo leveling though is we can see his growth gradually. he doesnt get op in a span of minutes, he worked hard for it. also to make sure he isnt that cringy overpowered characters, the author sets him up with difficult characters to fight with. if you cannot see how special it is then it is not for you because this story is simplistic. its a hyped power fantasy with tons of action and this is a done right presentation of basic weakest to overpowered character.
Solo leveling will unfortunately get slow. I felt the same reading the manhwa. It was men and then got better... then got meh again (cuz grind), and became a banger HOWEVER THE SENCOND TO ENDING ARC KEPT ME ON MY TOES. So honestly gonna wait till august to watch it (they said 24 episodes and planning on a break) I can't handle solo levelling cliffhangers they are brutal 😂
The reason solo leveling huge is the manhwa. If the anime followed the LN, then that's already a sign that it will be mid. And it is actually mid. It's actually rated lower than some "unknown" anime series about pharmaceutical and certain elf girl that aired around the same time. The reason why it's adapted to anime is manhwa's popularity. Without that, i doubt any studio will bother with that bland story.
right. these ppl expect theres a sickening plot twist in the first episodes or something because its hyped af. when in fact its hyped because this is a done right power fantasy and the artstyle looks amazing
this is a-1 and theyre jack of all trades. dont expect it’ll have sick animation or action sequences because they aren’t that good with it so far. this manhwa/novel is kinda hard to produce for japanese. its very anti-japanese so a-1 picking this up was a risk. this manwha was actually the most anticipated one to have an anime even before but no one’s picking it uo due to anti-japanese thing
its just the first two episodes what do you expect? this is also what i felt when i watched the first two episodes of jjk before but i had no complaints.
I've read solo leveling, it's a fun read. I was never really invested like a lot of people because i had read the korean inspirations for it in their webnovel format years before solo leveling was conceived, so it always felt a little bit derivative. That said the web comic is beautifully illustrated. I wasn't impressed by the first episode of the anime. It was actually sorta shitty, they make an awful mistake of starting on a late stage story battle (big dumb battle with no stakes for the audience) which i don't remember being in the webcomic; then they jumped around providing exposition dumps through various 3rd parties which were unnatural and disjointed. the first episode was dogshit up until they got to the actual start of the web comic. The second episode was well adapted, though they force fed some side characters that get introduced later as exposition tools. I sort of have a lowered expectation for the anime at this point. it just seems so clumsy and poorly thought out. even the end of the episode was sorta stretched unnaturally in order to land on a cliffhanger; it just doesn't feel like they'll get it right at this point.

Not sure where the studio will take this series considering the shows visuals seem to hint at something (some of you may know already). I just hope they respect the source and not rush it, like they did Shield Hero S2 and S3.
The second episode flew by for me. This has me intrigued
I recognise the iconic creepy statue that looks kinda like the smiling titan from aot, but other than that, I don't really know Jack about solo levelling
base on what I'm seeing i think it's better for me to wait a bit before watching the anime cuz i know from reading the manhwa the start is a bit on the slow side and I wanna wait to know how many episodes is this gonna be cuz there's no way it would be a good adaptation if it's only gonna be 12 episodes
Solo Leveling is the first Anime written by CW.
AMAZING video as always! You know how to hit the spot EVERY time man! I would have also predered it if they had combined the 2 episodes in one. You're the Best🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Appreciate it!
@@414Anime always
Personally the first and second episode and potentially third should be 1 Hr and then stick to you 30 min episodes until the final episode which should be 1 hour
It will get fun from ep 3
the anime looks good but i hope they would still improve it later on, the manhwa is really good so is their drawing so lets trust the process 😌
I’m very excited for what’s to come
to be honest im still not sure if the fight scenes can compare with the epic pose shots of the manwha
To be completely honest, I am trying to find any good reason why I should believe the hype and bother to check out the "I-know-what-comes-next' predictable future of this anime (weak MC is coming back from the death or near death as the greatest OP hero ever and will have Arifureta/Danmachi-like quests while collecting waifus, right?).
the heck man. its not any of those things you mentioned. the mc comes back alive but hes not op at all. he has to work hard for it so every monsters/enemies he face were all stronger than him. that’s a life check that even though he worked hard its still not enough so it will still be frustrating for him. collecting waifus? the fck? its not even harem to begin with, he doesnt give a fck about any girls honestly. also, he doesnt get all oh shes hot ill take her. its hyped because of the action sequences portrayed in the manhwa
then dont watch. why are you watching this show if you think its sht?
The MC gets only a single woman, *no* harem whatsoever.
Its just a *simplistic* story and it was just hyped up because of how the Manwha presented itself
There are tons of other manwha in terms of story (And art), that are much more greater
I'm more a fan of the web novel. It really helped me when I had self-doubts during my trainee days. I actually think the manhwa was a bad adaptation and I like the animé adaptation more. But everyone has their own preferences...
C+. Not great. Not bad. Just a c+ or 77% out of 100%. Get better.
It gives me SAO vibes, so yes I like Solo Leveling
Don't worry it will take some time to get good like csm
with the pacing i think it will be more than 25 episodes or split up like bleach
I've listened to the audiobook version to the latest release. The story is the king of mid. I have no idea why everyone is losing their minds over this. The only thing that will help this in the anime is a very high quality of animation because the plot and characters just doesn't boost this into the low end of good.
Your opinion
Because the manga is better then the light novel
@@Codemanlex The best opinion.
I'm sorry, man. For research purposes, I promise... how old are you?

@@youknowwhat49 if I'm going to do that, you have to answer my question first.
Well New show = New Problem 😂
Episodes aren't an hour each simple.
So far seems like a normal weakest becomes OP protagonist anime, nothing special in my opinion 🤷
thats pretty much the point of the series.
It's too short!!!
They already trying to milk it to its fullest lol
Thought the episodes were good, wish episode 1 and 2 were a 50 minute episode. It would have greatly improved it in my opinion
Am i the only one who goy AOT vibes when the architect similes
Mayb u should wait unteal u do know something mate
Solo leveling will unfortunately get slow. I felt the same reading the manhwa.
It was men and then got better... then got meh again (cuz grind), and became a banger
HOWEVER THE SENCOND TO ENDING ARC KEPT ME ON MY TOES. So honestly gonna wait till august to watch it (they said 24 episodes and planning on a break)
I can't handle solo levelling cliffhangers they are brutal 😂
👍😎🍺🍩
The Light Novel is better and the anime adaptation is from the LN not the web novel. I am pretty hyped about this series.
Swordart Online is 3000x better than Solo Leveling !
Okay totally Mid on episodes 1 & 2. Could these first two episodes lead to a reset of the series. I am hoping for better going forward
Ngl bro u askin for abit to much its the first 2 episodes u gotta wait 😂
bruh, the anime just came out😂y’all need to chill
right. these ppl expect theres a sickening plot twist in the first episodes or something because its hyped af. when in fact its hyped because this is a done right power fantasy and the artstyle looks amazing
You have to go in deeper into the story to understand smh.
Do more character facts again
The animation design is pretty average. The action sequences are no where near the level of AOT or even OPM.
this is a-1 and theyre jack of all trades. dont expect it’ll have sick animation or action sequences because they aren’t that good with it so far. this manhwa/novel is kinda hard to produce for japanese. its very anti-japanese so a-1 picking this up was a risk. this manwha was actually the most anticipated one to have an anime even before but no one’s picking it uo due to anti-japanese thing
i hope there is a dub for it to
so far its only blood and gore and nothing else .extremely dissapointed in that 1 hopefully it will get better
its just the first two episodes what do you expect? this is also what i felt when i watched the first two episodes of jjk before but i had no complaints.
what do u mean its just the first 2? how many episode does an anime need to get good??
@@seadagatako
I hate the glow up its too dramatic
This is the new jjk for me tbh
true. jjk for me is not really that mind blowing but i enjoyed the fights. same with demon slayer, the fights and visuals are whats keeping it going
Can you watch beast tamer
