People generally don't do that anymore because of serial killers like Ivan Millat who preyed on travellers in the lonely desert outback. He was convicted of only a couple murders but rumours have it he killed hundreds of people. And yes, they really do have serial killers in Australia, surprisingly enough.
Looks busy the highway and the campgrounds. We drove the plenty last spring and at the border-checkpoint the officer told us that he has 2-4 cars a day passing through and the only other “campers” we saw were two Telstra-workers.
Hey guys, love your Central Australia trips!!! A couple of questions if I could. How long did it take? Was the Plenty a nice drive and worth it (Boulia to Alice), given there were plenty of corrugations and the possibility of damage to our 4WDs? Our Plan B is on the black stuff heading further north via Mt Isa which would be more kms but possibly a shorter trip. Love your thoughts! Thanks Bob
Fuel Doctor works best if you put it in before filling up, use speedo to calculate ie 250 km is 250 mm at 10 litre per100 adjust for your litre usage 😀
This is onw of the things we worry about when we're on the road especially in the middle of nowhere, mechanical issues. Just unexpected things happen, something outside your control.
@@OverlandTravellers yes Elsie is old but beautiful. What's worse you don't know if the fuel/disel is good until u use it. Glad Adrian is with u guys, hope he can help in some way
The old 2H never dies, it's one of the best engine Toyota came up with. Thanks for the vid mate, you're a legend 😁👍
Every man needs a "Holly" in his life.
Sure does! Good luck finding one though ;)
I just did the Donohue and Plenty in about 9h. Track in good condition and majority is now sealed
It'd be a good idea to show a map of where you are travelling to, before each episode.
for sure

What a great episode. Just good old fashion Aussie travel.
Awesome video and plenty of dust
Great video. Lenny seems to be enjoying the ride too. Plenty Highway is on an upcoming trip of mine so it was great to see this part.
It’s an interesting drive :) you’ll love it.
I did the plenty Hwy afew months ago.in a 2003 Mercedes Vito van with a 7x4 box trailer on took me 3,5 days.never again in a van

Yeah the 40’s are an experience 😅
Nice trip.

Loved the video guys good old elsie isn’t bothered by dirty fuel hhaha will use be doing anymore trips with the hilux or no more
Probably no more trips in the Lux, unless the troopy packs it in. But she’s back on the farm working!
Another awesome ep guys. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Great episode thanks
The Boulia Servo tanks are all aboveground very unlikely to have water in them. Most likely got the water from the jerry cans use all the time.
Yeah could have come from anywhere
Apparently the bikes add an xlo cloth to the air filters in the dust sections.
hey guys I live in mutitjulu at the base of the rock might see you always welcom to stay but there is a forty sitting in someones yard rusting away
Thanks mate! Not heading that way this time but we will soon :)
Good grief !! Install air con ! , simple and fairly cheap on that engine and pressurise the cabin too it keeps the dust at bay to boot 😎👍🍻
Unfortunately it would be about a $4000 job once you factor in freight and labour. There is a bit to it no parts are a bit thin on the ground

Yeah that actually makes sense haha I’ll put it in before hand from now on :)
The best thing you can do for your troopy is a snorkel ( with a pre cleaner for dirt ). Mine was simple just two pipes , two elbows an jobs done 👍
Yeah I wouldn’t mind doing a snorkel for the troop!
Awesome video legends
Great video guys, keep'em coming
Awesome video guys, keep up the good work!

Yeah it’s always on the back of your mind in a 40 year old car.

Can't help myself WOW
Cheers mate!
Loved the episode, not sure how you did it but seemed more up-tempo in sections which was cool.
Thanks! Probably just more upbeat music and plenty of b-roll so the shots were quick :)
Those White river gums are specky.
Yeah it was a very nice camp. Love the gum trees
Dare I say “wow”. Another excellent video. Love the camp set up scenes with the nightly menu - wow. 😉
Thank you! Appreciate it.
The plastic thing in the airbox my 2H had it sitting on top of the filter element was mine on the wrong way ?
I actually don’t know……. I’ll have to have a look on the forums
On top to spin dust and water down and out thru the rubber thingy
And can you believe there’s guys on the camping & caravanning Facebook pages wanting to tow their vans on the Plenty Highway? Insanity!
Flood level 1974. Would that have been associated with cyclone Tracey the flattened Darwin?.
Not sure but there was some water around!
What was the cooker he used for the ribs ?
Travel buddy 12v oven…… so bloody good we are definitely going to get one.
Matt, what was the avg travel speed when you are on the hard red dirt and the loose stuff?
I’d say in between 60-80
How good is mechanical injection 😍
Haha it has its perks! Not many but it does 😅
Get a jar pour some diesel then wait. Sit their. Itll show you issues
Yeah it definitely had a bit of water in it
Great vid guys & those ribs 🤤🤤🤤
If you have a travel buddy highly recommended…. They are pre cooked so only take like 20 minutes and marinated as well.
install the aircon and save your marriage.
Haha we’re not married yet!
