    There’s been so many bests for me so far this year! It’s been a good reading year so far. 🐸

    Literally obsessed with legends of Thezmarr series. I think Blood & Steel is my favorite book of the year so far. That whole series is just top tier! I also thought Divine Rivals was a bit boring. I haven’t read Ruthless Vows yet, despite hearing good things ….. mostly because I guess i just dont care?

      Yeah I will not be continuing I didn't care enough about divine rivals

    Is it weird that I really enjoy people talking about books they didn't like? Maybe it's because I have so many of the "popular/mainstream" books that I just can't stand and question if I'm the only one

    • @CoverswithCassidy
      @CoverswithCassidy  Месяц назад +4

      No I love this too! I also sometimes think it helps me figure out who to take recs from more then books they liked

    I can definitely see where you're coming from with When the Moon Hatched. I actually enjoyed that everything was put in a glossary though because I feel like it would have been a lot of world building and exposition that probably would have been a slog to try to read through and probably would have been a book in itself to try and explain everything.

      @CoverswithCassidy  Месяц назад +1

      That's fair to each their own! Not my type of world building. I'm a fan of a good old info dump

    I definitely need to read the Spark of the Everflame series. I may pick it up for Battleathon.

    I'm sad that you didn't like Divine Rivals but I'm also glad because Ruthless Vows broke me😭 - it still hurts, maybe even more than Liam🥺
    And because I can't stop thinking about it - probably Ruthless Vows is my best, so far🐸

    • @CoverswithCassidy
      @CoverswithCassidy  Месяц назад +1

      Wow that's some strong comparisons

    • @stellataneva7012
      @stellataneva7012 Месяц назад

      @@CoverswithCassidy You see, I have hopes that Liam will appear again after the scenes with him and Violet in Iron Flame. Especially because she said that he has disappeared into the shadows. And if he was just a coping mechanism of her mind, he should've faded away and disappear into thin air, not stepping back into the shadows. Maybe I'm looking for something that's not there but still I have that hope.
      In Ruthless Vows though there ain't any hope, and I have a better comparison for the loss but it's too spoilery.

    To Bleed A Crystal Bloom seemed so weird for me at first. I agree with what you are saying but when you get to book 2 & 3 it all makes more sense. I ended up absolutely loving it.

    Definitely want to try Rachel Gillig now! My faves of 2024 would be:
    - The Phoenix Keeper by S.A MacLean (fantastic cozy, coming out soon)
    - The Navigator's Children by Tad Williams (another ARC)
    - The Trials of Empire by Richard Swan
    - Born of Light and Shadow by Ryan Kirk

    Hard to pick just one favorite but I think it has to be Ashes and the Star Cursed King, I can't wait for the next book to come out! I think your favorite is maybe Slaying the Shadow Prince? 👀

    It is going to be a trilogy! 😳 Gush I need to learn to ignore new books and look them up like 6 months into future or even a year. It is not like there is lack of books that I can read in the meantime...

    I really need to get to the Godeater saga. I even backed it on Kickstarter and still haven't gotten to it yet. 😅 Glad it was a win for you! 🐸
    And I definitely enjoyed Divine Rivals more than you (I think I gave it 4 stars) but actually agree with your criticisms. I tend to like historical so I didn't mind that but the romance felt rushed and unconvincing and there wasn't enough fantasy. The more I think about it, the more I want to go back and drop my rating lol.
