There are already reports of 2025 Tundras that have spontaneous catastrophic engine failure with the exact same symptoms as the 2022-2023 ones that had main bearing failures. There is something fundamentally wrong with that engine and hybrid owners still aren't part of the recall lol.
2022-2024* and now 2025… have u seen the American engineers behind these trucks? They aren’t taking care of themselves physically, doubt they are breaking a sweat with designing or fixing these new models
Thank for saying "over landing is car camping" not enough people hear that, got a platform to sleep on in my 3rd gen and a slumber jack tarp to attach and couldn't be happier.
I completely agree with every damn word. I wish there was room to tell you about all the new trucks bought by coworkers and are back in the shop within 3 to 6 months for everything from radios going out to needing transmissions. And all are the vehicles you describe. Except they guys with Toyotas in the years you specify. Love this vid! Spread the word, y'all! 😎
As a Toyota fanboy it pains me to have to agree with you. The new Toyota trucks are crap. That's why I bought a 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Offroad double cab. I absolutely love it and hope it lasts me a really long time. Good luck with yours.
I have a 2002 4Runner and wanted to wait for the new one in 2025 however I saw what was going on with the new Tundras and new Tacomas transmission issues and I finally bit the bullet on a preowned 2022 4runner TRD Pro in Lime Rush for $48.5k back in June with only 14k miles and a 7 year 100k mile drivetrain warranty. Couldn’t be happier with the decision I made.
@JimmyMeatwhistle I'll cross my toes for you. I just have my 3rd gen new shocks and struts and put on some take offs from an 08 Tacoma. Good for the next leg of the journey lol. Can't wait to see the build. Stay warm.
Wish there were not so many problems with people bothering you with your cabin. Miss seeing videos there. Miss the beautiful boat also. Stay safe and healthy!
That’s the most refreshing video I’ve seen in months! Clearly the older Toyota models were better made. I drive a 2001 4Runner and will do so until it dies, at which point I’ll probably put a new motor in it! Thanks for sharing your thought on the “crap” new Toyota models. And over landing is a word for posers! I’m a car camper!
Yeah I was considering the same thing. I’m still running a 2006 Sequoia 4x4 in Calgary and was hoping the new Toyota models would motivate a switch, but nope.
I agree with everything you said about newer trucks and Toyotas and I’m a Toyota fanboy. Only downside with 2018-2021 tundras is I think they removed the transmission cooler, other than that it’s a great reliable truck I love mine.
Just got a 2021 Tundra. Had to drive 4 hours to get one. Dealers were trying to sell me newer ones with no warranty for less money. Thankfully my wife researched everything and figured out exactly what you're saying. First Toyota for me. Too bad newer trucks cost sooo much and aren't as reliable as they should be
I have watched the complete argument and i couldn’t agree with you more, I enjoy the common sense and enjoy someone that loves reliable and respects a dollar. Too each there own but buying a ford get ready to regular huge repair bills and never understood the turbo engines when turbos are not needed
Jimmy that is a beauty! Great choice ! I have the 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD pro manual. Its the last year before they replaced engines with the turbo . I despise turbo engines. They are hot running monstrosities that have no longevity. It baffles me that they put the turbo in that and the new tundra. You get negligible at best better gas mileage and performance in the turbo vs the V8 in the Tundra, and you get to watch your big investment start having problems like never before! I am never selling my Tacoma ! The Rav 4 is the only off road option in Toyotas that isn't wrecked with the new turbo I know you will never sell your Tundra! That thing is mint! . 👍
@robertmiller5789 Thanks, Robert! That's my next truck for sure. A 2023 manual taco, haha 👌. It's too bad what toyota is doing. And that new land cruiser is frightening. The axle shafts are way smaller than the land cruiser 200 series. 🙄. Your taco and my tundra will be running for many more years, unlike the new ones. Have an awesome Monday, my friend. 🍻🍻
Great video. Everything you said is spot on. I am a lifelong Toyota/lexus/scion owner and owned dozens of their vehicles. I currently own a 2017 Toyota Sequoia limited 4x4 lifted with 70k lifted and rigged out for remote camping ,2003 lexus gx470 with 275k a 2018 Lexus ux250h awd with 35k. We were considering selling the sequoia and buying a new tacoma, tundra ,landcruiser or gx550 but after seeing all of the problems there is no way that’s happening. Toyota will make it right like they always have but im sticking with proven reliability.
The RAV4 really is the perfect commuter for your situation. That torsen AWD will get you through everything. It's a shame they are making them less tough now and it will be hybrid-only like the Camry very soon. That tiny electric motor at the rear axle will get overwhelmed by more serious conditions. Anyway, GREAT purchase with the Tundra! It's among the last of the great Toyotas. When the FJ Cruiser production was finally ended in 2020 I was really sad because that was THE last bulletproof Toyota with the 4.0L V6. I will miss them.
Hi and thanks! The RAV4 has been absolutely epic out here. I guess the next gen toyota 4runner will be the same platform as the crappy new land cruiser. Man, do I wish we could get the LC 70 series here.
Love your new truck! I'm currently on a journey to upgrade my 2012 Taco 5 speed, and have also come to the conclusion based on my own research that the new ones are crap, and way over priced. So this video was perfect timing for me! Looking forward to seeing what you develop your Tundra into.
My dad’s 2023 Sierra with 2300 kms had to be fixed last week. The ignition module crapped out. I also don’t like roof top tents that’s why I bought my van. Don’t need a tent either. Just a sleeping bag in the back and I’m good to go.
I was thinking about buying a toyota sienna van for a work van, I always had one for my wife and most of the companies aren't making small work vans anymore, but the new sienna has the hybrid engine, so I don't know if it's crap or not, or I have to buy an older one, they are good for camping. I have a 2012 f250 I use for hauling trailers and plowing so it's been a good truck , I have taken care of it since new and gentle push snow, not beat the crap out of the truck. Thought about dodge ram work vans but just bigger than I want, but they seem to keep going with minimal problems.
@@JimmyMeatwhistle I work a lot. And I don’t really have the ambition to make RUclips videos. If I did they would be simple no talking type stuff. But again not really interested in that kinda thing. I’m still trying to get the van road worthy with my crazy work schedule.
Too bad about the new Tacoma...I know a few dudes that will be bummed about that. I think the Land Cruiser is top of the pile...just cannot get them easily out east. Good luck with your new Tundra, looks great.
Hi Craig, Yeah, toyota is not looking too good in the truck department. I wish we could get the 70 series Land Cruisers here. I would definitely grab one of those 👍👍
Just curious, what are your thoughts on the gx470 you owned? I drive a 2008 gx470... I'm with you on overlanding. I think it's ridiculous what people spend just to sleep outdoors. It's laughable, and those rooftop tents look awful. Great looking truck, by the way.
Hi, and thanks for the comment. My son is still driving it, and it is an awesome machine! I think it has around 400,000 kilometers or 240,000 miles. I believe that is one of the best engines toyota has ever made. Congrats, and enjoy 🍻🍻
WOW! That Tacoma is beautiful and only 22K miles, Man or Man! As much as I hate to say...I have to agree with you, I just don't know whether the new 4 cylinder Turbos are going to go the distance for Toyota...I keep wondering and scratching my head why they went all IN on the 4 cylinder turbos, but am very hesitant to buy new for that reason alone. Definitely looking forward to seeing your new adventures in the new Tacoma! Hey, quick question...I probably just missed a video or two, but you still got your Chris Craft Boat?
Hi Steve! Have been watching your instagram birds in flight photos, and you're kicking butt! Great images! Maybe these new toyotas will get better after a few years... I sold that Chris Craft about two years ago, and i'm now looking for another. Lol. Have an awesome tuesday
Good choice! Check out a recent video by The Car Care Nut called "Toyota V8 New Problem Trend is Starting To Worry Me! Here's How to Prevent It." Good to know for your new V8.
Guys had over 60, I said 60 cars. At this point I don’t care what his opinion is. It doesn’t matter. Because he doesn’t keep his vehicles long enough to have any say what’s good or not.
My 23 Tacoma TRD off road premium works just fine, stock wheels and tires. If you get stupid and start putting of excessive sized this or that, then you're an idiot and get harshly punished by the physics gods.
I have a perfectly mint 2008, has every option available from factory (limited 5.7 crewmax 4x4), no rust, 174k miles, perfect truck! Nobody wants it. Worth nothing.
Among all the cars, suv, and pickup truck, the design is usually imitate some kind of animals in the wild for symbolizing speed and power, etc… this model Tundra frontal grille is looking like an animal is crying because it looks like tears dropping from the headlamps. Why the manufacturer hasn’t fixed that? Superstitious Asian would not want to own this model Tundra because there is a spiritually belief that having a tears weeping Tundra in the owner’s garage will cause a family to cry more often than usual, and families of friends that are seeing this model Tundra often will also cry often as well. 😢😢😢
There are already reports of 2025 Tundras that have spontaneous catastrophic engine failure with the exact same symptoms as the 2022-2023 ones that had main bearing failures. There is something fundamentally wrong with that engine and hybrid owners still aren't part of the recall lol.

@Wellh0wrya I'm surprised he can even get in the truck...
Where are the reports of 24 and 25 Tundras with catastrophic engine failures
Thank for saying "over landing is car camping" not enough people hear that, got a platform to sleep on in my 3rd gen and a slumber jack tarp to attach and couldn't be happier.
Haha, the "overlanding" thing is out of control! Your set up sounds perfect and that's all you need. The 3rd gen is from a different planet! Perfecto
Happy New Year Jimmy 🌲😎🏴👋
Happy New Year!! 🍻✨️🎄🍷🔥

Thanks Mr Whistle!

Wow, same truck! Have fun with yours, I'm sure it will be pain-free for many years 🍻🍻
I have a 2002 4Runner and wanted to wait for the new one in 2025 however I saw what was going on with the new Tundras and new Tacomas transmission issues and I finally bit the bullet on a preowned 2022 4runner TRD Pro in Lime Rush for $48.5k back in June with only 14k miles and a 7 year 100k mile drivetrain warranty. it will go forever! Amazing platform, one of Toyotas best 👌, Enjoy!
Thanks for the informative video..keep em coming:)
Thanks, buddy! 🍻🍻
Merry Christmas Jimmy!! I love my 23 Tacoma. Getting 23 mpg combined. Trans does hunt a bit! I need a Meatwhistle hat!!!!
Merry Christmas, Mr Webb! That's great, MPG, and that is my next truck 😊. Have a great Monday 🍻🍻
Enjoyed the video. Love Toyotas also
Thanks Perry 🍻🍻
Nice find my friend! Looks really sharp!
Thanks, Adam. I got lucky with this one... I hope 😊

Thanks my friend! I miss that boat too, so much so, that I might buy another! Have a great Sunday evening! 🍻🍻

Yeah I was considering the same thing. I’m still running a 2006 Sequoia 4x4 in Calgary and was hoping the new Toyota models would motivate a switch, but nope.
I believe that 4.7 v8 in your sequoia is about one of the best engines toyota has ever made. Same engine in the GX470. No need to sell that beast 🍻
I agree with everything you said about newer trucks and Toyotas and I’m a Toyota fanboy. Only downside with 2018-2021 tundras is I think they removed the transmission cooler, other than that it’s a great reliable truck I love mine.
More RAV4 videos please 😁😍😊 I love the RAV4
Awesome I can’t wait for more updates
Thanks! 🍻🍻

Awesome! Congrats on your 2nd Gen Tundra! You will love it! Thanks for the comment and have a great week 👌👌🍻🍻
Got a 23 Tacoma last year and I love it!!!
Yea us old folks call overlanding camping.
Great choice and price on the Tundra. I, too, have a 2021 off road Crewmax. Second tundra. Love it!

Wise choice. Congratulations. Just got frontier pro4x V6 engine is a peach.
Enjoy your new truck, and thanks for the comment! I heard good things about those trucks. 🍻🍻
Love my 24 Tacoma! The turbo engine is a beast!
awesome news 👌👌

Press the tow/haul button and hold on!
@jeffp5418 the 5.7 is nearly a rocket 🚀 ship
I bought my 21 this year too. Cant pry it from my dead hands.
Haha, yup!
My dad’s 2023 Sierra with 2300 kms had to be fixed last week. The ignition module crapped out. I also don’t like roof top tents that’s why I bought my van. Don’t need a tent either. Just a sleeping bag in the back and I’m good to go.
Yup, the new stuff sucks! Your van is awesome, and you should start a channel with that van, my friend 👌🍻

Best year of that tundra last v8
Nice looking truck.
Thanks Paul! 😊
Both my Jeeps…2021 & 2024 Wrangler Rubicons are amazing and very reliable. Tried and true 3.6L and an 8-speed. If I was you I’d buy a Jeep Gladiator!
Just curious, what are your thoughts on the gx470 you owned? I drive a 2008 gx470... I'm with you on overlanding. I think it's ridiculous what people spend just to sleep outdoors. It's laughable, and those rooftop tents look awful. Great looking truck, by the way.

I had a 2022 taco, it was OK but hard on gas, low power and hunted for gears constantly. Plus seat was too low
Good choice!
Check out a recent video by The Car Care Nut called "Toyota V8 New Problem Trend is Starting To Worry Me! Here's How to Prevent It." Good to know for your new V8.
Thanks for the heads up.I did watch that video a couple of weeks ago. He has a great channel and a huge following 👍.

Agreed 💯
