I've just picked up an e350 bluetec saloon exactly same as yours on the actually, I'm also thinking of going to a hybrid turbo and intercooler upgrade to put the car on par with Audis bitdi and bmw's 535d platform unfortunately Mercedes engines were massively underpowered stock compared to Audi and BMW for the diesel engines for this year, maybe that's why there not often modified? Also heard the gearbox's don't like going past 700-800nm so could be a weak point?? Either way loving the content and nice to see someone modding a diesel E ill be keeping up to date with the results and future videos.
Will be watching this series closely have a 2011 c350cdi 265bhp stock it’s mapped on a stage 1 too 300bhp but definitely contemplating bigger turbo etc just worried about torque converter handling the extra torque
It's the orange oil seals you've got to be extra careful with - any sign of a oil leak get it in ASAP. Also, yes, auto gearboxs can only cope with around 700nm without problems. I've had 310bhp and 720nm for over a year and it's been absolutely fantastic! G. A. D Tuning :) Cracking video.
I have a cls 350 and had a remap done by AMD. 4 yrs ago and thinking of upgrading the performance, it's a great car and don't think it's necessary to change. Yep will subscribe and follow your findings to improve my 🚗
Great video mate good to see someone molding an e350, I've got one running 310bhp looking at an intercooler upgrade but aftermarket upgrade parts are a nightmare to get hold of in the UK loads available in the US but taxes are a killer on high priced items, where did you get your upgrade intercooler from ??? I'm trying to find a company to make me a bispoke carbon fibre bat wing plus air box's with proper K & N intakes going all the way to the front panel and including the front intake panel, also a bit worried about running over 720 torque, but may be a gearbox upgrade to a AMG 63 box could be the answer 🤔🤔 anyway loving it keep it up👍👍
Intercooler has to be custom built as there isn’t anything off the shelf of that bolts strange on, although you can get a hybrid turbo off the shelf as I have one to fit.. with the stage 1 map I’ll achieve 350bhp to 400bhp with the standard intercooler, standard engine anything more than that it can have an impact on the gearbox. apparently it pops the oil seals!
You're doing god's work by exploring a Mercedes diesel engine, they make truly magnificent diesels but no one really cares to put the work in. Part of the blame is because of the MB forums which will always say "But you're better off just putting that money into an E63". I don't get that. Most people want to be able to modify their current cars, and in this case having this as a daily driver is WAY better on the wallet too
I was thinking of buying one too, but the one i was looking at was 2014 with out the intelligent headlights. My question is…how reliable are the e350 bluetec?
I have an E350 Bluetec and recently on a highway journey I got 1350kms on a tank of diesel at an average speed of 120kph. It averaged 5.2 litres per 100kms.

I think it is because Mercedes prioritised reliability over power for this engine. It is much more reliable than the BMW and Audi equivalent.
These V6 diesels actually have a great sound. I love revving mine.

Mine had been super reliable and I have had any issues.
Hey Rich, what's your fuel consumption like since the remap? Is the 350 a thirsty beast? Debating on oke of these or an e250...
I am not sure to be far, it's not too different to pre-map about 50 less per tank.. but Its the V6 diesel so it was good to start with anyway.

I would recommend a remap...But look for a Merc tuning specialist for the best results.
