People can watch what they want, and have their own thoughts about what they watch. That's the whole point of youtube. It's not all fluffy clouds and unicorns. If you can't take criticism then dye your hair blue and get a nose ring, otherwise don't post videos on youtube.
I'm all for freedom of speech but I don't get why anyone would bash Danny Malin and say he doesn't do a real job etc. He is a successful entrepreneur and brings enormous joy to hundreds of thousands of people. He is a model of kindness and respect. If our country was run by the food reviewers such as Danny, Gary, and Greeno, we'd be in good shape!
Except he is on another channel (Mr. and Mrs. Yorkshire) where he's on a very strict diet and miserable too. New wife is Vegan, with self-acknowledged ED (eating disorder) and now monetizes Danny's terrible eating habits, yet on their other page he's calorie controlled.
I lived in wetherby for a few years as a kid and the wetherby whaler every Friday night is one of my fondest memories. So glad to see you’re still going and apparently still as good as ever!
Nice to see some scraps on your chips. I used to have scrap sandwiches as a kid. Loads of vinegar & bread & butter. Went to the Wetherby Whaler in Wetherby on a night out & they were always great.

Dan's a hardy man - most people would have abandoned the "picnic". Wetherby Whaler has never disappointed and I've been going there since it opened in 1989! I think their secret is that the food is the same whichever of their outlets you go to. Top review.
That fish looked banging, I come from South elmsall near pontefract and we call them turnovers not fish cakes, a fish cake is minced fish with potato mashed and battered....but we all have different names for stuff......great vid chunk...
Its funny how things have different names in different places, Turnovers is a new one of me, Just south of the Yorkshire border we call them Yorkshire Fishcakes, I've been eating them for over 50 years and love them.

I've been eating at the Wetherby Whaler in Pudsey for many years with family. It is without doubt the best Fish and Chip sit down restaurant in the UK. The Jolly Sailor is round the corner, an award winning takeaway of exceptional quality and opposite is The Crossed Shuttle, a spoons pub with really good and reasonably priced hand pulled beer. Yorkshire at it's finest!
Wait!!! Fish and chips in a deep fat fryer! I've never seen such an amazing deliciousness!!! Such beautiful colours too brown and a lighter brown. It must be a sensation to the taste buds potato and fish who would have thought of such a thing?
I live in the US. I'm beginning to think that restaurant food in the UK is less expensive. If that size piece of fish was available in the US, it would cost at the minimum, if not more than $35 dollars or $28.60 UK. He paid less than $15.00 US dollars. Here in the US, for the price Danny paid, you'd get 3 large fish fingers that are way less than 1/2 of the size of his fish. Always love the fish n chips vids!
yep. My favorite Fish and chips restaurant where I live in the US, uses Haddock. For 3 large fried Haddock fillets, it costs $34.19. That includes the fries aka chips. But, I love that I can substitute the chips with their vinegar dressed coleslaw, which pairs very well with the fish. I always get hungry watching Danny's fish and chips videos!
that batter looks class. not all doughy and soggy like what happens in a lot of chippies. seems expensive but it's a good size and decent food so it's fair really

We are unusual here in West Yorkshire as most chip shops do haddock and you have to specifically ask for Cod if you want it. I lived in London and went into the local chippy and as i knew it would be Cod i said ' can you put us an addock in for me mate ' and everyone thought I'd come from Mars. Anyway, for the next 5 years, I'd go in there a couple of times a week and they'd shout out so everyone could hear 'putting a haddock in for you ' mate while everyone looked at me like i was a weirdo. I didn't dare ask for curry sauce or gravy 😂
Have you tried Spring Grove Fisheries in Kirkburton on the A629 (Penistone Rd). They were always very good. As far as the Wetherby Whaler is concerned I've only been to the one in Wetherby. It's good but as I'm happy to drive quite a distance as I only get back to UK very rarely, I think there are better ones out there (including Spring Grove) however I appreciate it's all down to personal taste.
That really did look very good. Really good. Just like Japanese tempura, you can tell a good batter by its colour and the sound it makes when you bite into it. Both the batter of Fish & Chips and the Japanese tempura have their roots in Portuguese cooking, so whilst the batter is a bit different, it is an appropriate comparison. The ingredients used and how it is served is of course, very different. I have no idea what Chinese curry is though.
You NEED to come back to Derby for Sunrise Fishbar. I've been ordering from them, every Friday, for the past 3 years. Absolutely the best F&C you can get here. Get the large fish and chips sides for starter, then the Mediterranean chicken meat with chips and salad; mild chilli with mint yoghurt. Fish bites and onion rings are a nice little filler. Since they've opened, everyone I've suggested a chippy tea to, has been super impressed. The actual chips and batter are on point. Edit: Not gonna lie; those F&C look stunning. Loving the batter choice.

Danny, you really surprised me when you mentioned that you haven’t been to a Weatherby Whaler. I fully expected that you would have been to the Guisely branch at least with it being the spiritual successor of the home of fish and chips in the remaining building that was once occupied by Harry Ramsdens. I must admit that since the Ramsdens family sold their investment off to an assortment of other catering companies and they started opening their locations around the world but still using the HR name Ifelt that the quality had dropped alongside the prices rising out of control I for one dropped the location from my rotation of dining locations, shortly before the Whaler group of fish and chip restaurants bought the old restaurant location and refurbished it, but I havent been back there in years, instead of I am out in that area I usually end up at Murgatroyds since it’s nearby and offers a much wider choice of menu.
Looked great scraps r my favourite (batter bits) and I prefer Chinese curry from a chippy no little bits in it just smooth and a bit usually 🥵 hotter (spicy 🌶️ ) happy 2025 Danny and the crew, so far my new year has been sad and depressing my 17 year old cat died, amongst other things, but ur review has cheered me up for half hour , thsnx Dan 👍
