    I don't know why the video quality is low on this, but the audio is good so, we're gonna roll with it. Also, I don't have the original video file anymore. So... It is what it is gang. :)

    I have a simplifier...is awesome to put a fuzz, distortion or OD in front of then go right into your interface. I plug my pedalboard right into it for recording and it sounds incredible. Way better sounds imo over when I was mic'ing or amp sim'ing. I track bass and guitar thru it with usually a bogner ecstasy pedal or jhs supreme in front and it's vicious sounding (vicious in a good way) this unit's been kind of under the radar but I am convinced it's the secret weapon for keeper tracks right off of a pedal board. It's permanently wired to my interface at this point. 🤘👍

    This is the best channel. I am subscribed to thousands of channels, but I click on every one of your videos, and I’m never disappointed. I was born in 1970, so I was a teenager in the 80s, and I was a total metal head. I bought my first electric guitar rig in 91, and it was all rack stuff, so your channel pretty much hits all the right buttons.

    That last 33 seconds reminds of how "dry, nasty, ugh!" a guitar sounds until you put it in a space - reverb, delay, something, and then suddenly it feels like the difference between chalk and chicken. You all expected cheese, right? :O)

    I bought one of these about 6 months ago and have really enjoyed playing through it, especially for late night practice, just plugging in a set of headphones and turning a few knobs. The real test for a cab sim is high gain, that's where analogue cab sims tend to be really poor compared to impulse responses. A test with a high gain preamp would be very interesting.

    • @srdjanbosnjak7413
      @srdjanbosnjak7413 3 года назад +3

      True-but I must say that I am very impressed how cab sim sounded with crunch tones-very natural to my ears.For such small analog device quality of tones is fantastic.

    • @peterosipov400
      @peterosipov400 3 года назад +1

      I disagree.
      The real test is a break up - that sweet spot at low gain, and not high gain at all. In the sweet spot you hear all the perfections and imperfections of the amp, because it is the most dynamic sound of the amp works or doesn't depending on how well preamp and poweramp working and how well they work together.
      It is much easier to getaway on high gain or on clean sound. And I did and not once.
      But I should also say that not often we hear good sweet spot tones in the music of today.

    • @stefanozurich
      @stefanozurich 3 года назад +1

      @@peterosipov400 I'm speaking purely from a cabinet emulation perspective, analogue cab sims can work really well with clean and light breakup sound and tend fall apart miserably at high gain where they sound simultaneously undefined, mushy and fizzy. IRs in my experience have been much crisper and less ear fatiguing.
      Just to be clean I'm not talking about preamp/power amplifier simulation.

    • @peterosipov400
      @peterosipov400 3 года назад

      @@stefanozurich sorry, but analog cab sims sound awful on almost anything, except maybe for clean cleans or in electronic music context when you need a weird tone out of your guitar to mix well in a synth-heavy environment

    Michael Neilson, I would like to hear your thoughts on the DSM vs the Two Notes Cab M as a pedal platform. I would love to hear some Friedman pedals into the 2 units and get feedback on which unit feels better and more realistic. I ask because one unit is digital and the other is analog. I wonder if there is a real difference between A or D or if it’s just in my head. Thanks Micheal, your playing and videos are my favorite of all the others out there. Keep on rocking!!!

    I have an HX Stomp and a PowerCab+ that I could never get to sound "perfect" to my ear. I even bought and sold an Iridium after running it through the PC+ because it sounded awful.
    I got one of these and ran it through the FRFR. I thought it was OK, but then I tried using the Stomp's amp models and bypassing the Simplifier's preamp.
    It's perfection.

      I'm not wild about the amp sim inside the CabM. I LOVE the cab sim though. The Simplifier is a really nice amp sim... like an updated Sansamp. The Simplifier is more direct and in your face... for better or worse.

      @@BigHairyGuitars Thanks. So I run an hx stomp and I was using it for amp/cab, but Im sort of switching up and making it be mostly an effect thing. I use a dumble style pedal for my main tone/pre amp type thing. Was wanting to see about putting that pedal between the stomp (all other effects) and the cab to again set that tone as the last thing out basically. So I can't figure out if I need mainly a cab sim or something more like the simplifier. I like being able to put an IR into the cab M. I suppose with either I could run that pedal into it's effects loop for setting that tone. May need to buy both and give it a listen.
