  • It's ramp season here in Minnesota - let's go find some! Ramps are wild leeks and they are SO delicious. A true foraging treat as the season is short and they are nearly impossible to grow in a home garden. Come along with me!
*If you plan to forage on public land, be sure to check in with your local laws around foraging first! It is illegal in some places :(

Very cool, I had never heard of ramps before. When I lived in Iowa there was some kind of plant that smelled like garlic but I think they said it was actually a kind of onion, but they had a SUPER strong garlic flavor.

We dig some of them up and propagate them at home. We need to get some more asap for our new property. Tucker will definitely need a bath. Why do they need to roll in the mud?! Haha Beauty harvest! 🌱💚 The ticks are bad this year.

That’s a great idea as long as it’s legal in your area to dig up! Haha, I agree! I don’t know why they insist in doing that 🤪

    Yes
What about transplanting when you find a patch?

Harvesting the seeds usually is legal, but it’s usually illegal to dig them up and transplant so be sure to look into your local laws around it first

I haven’t found anything definitive about not digging the whole plant up in Ontario (where I live) so I think I’ll give it a try to replant some in my yard early next spring. Here we usually dig up and use the bulb as well. Selectively of course conserving the patch. I pickle the bulbs and use in salads.
      So good!!!!
