    Another fact I just found out today is that FireRed and LeafGreen are the only games in the series where the Tiny Mushrooms and Big Mushrooms actually have a practical use rather than just something to sell as this game's item for the Move Reminder on Two Island

      This is likely because Luvdisc does not show up in FRLG therefore you cannot farm Heart Scale for this purpose.

    Also, what is fun about the box art of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and especially the way you presented them -
    The box art appears the same way as you would insert the Cartridges into a DS:
    The DS from above, looking down to the GBA slot on the bottom! Neat

    It makes sense that Legends Arceus doesn't have the Master ball, since the Master Ball was invented by Silph Co. in the Gen1 games. I would say technically the Origin ball serves as the master ball purpose, it's just you are forced to use on a certain Pokemon.

  • @AuraOfANobody

    Oh, I thought the Reshiram/Zekrom thing was well known at this point! That's actually the reason why you unlock a box in SwSh after catching Eternatus, too - Since it's a mandatory catch, guaranteeing you have space in the box when you catch it makes sure you can't softlock yourself by filling up all your slots.

    • @renakunisaki
      @renakunisaki 2 года назад

      They learned from previous games - in Gen 1 (and 2?) if you tried to do the catching tutorial with no room to send a caught Pokemon, they'd get stuck in a loop.

  • @hhjan594

    Smeargle's tail was originally Red-colored, at least in the Gen2 games that were the case. Coliseum and Gale of Darkness just followed the Gen2 games so that's not their fault.
    The reason I know this was because I was playing VC crystal this month and I went to catch Smeargle, found a red-tailed one thought OMG I found a shiny! But turned out it wasn't.

    • @AuraOfANobody
      @AuraOfANobody 2 года назад +16

      To add on to this, Pokémon from gens 1 and 2 in Colosseum and XD use their models from the Stadium games - Presumably it was done to save on time and resources, but it causes some design inconsistencies like Smeargle's tail color due to designs being altered with the leap in hardware capabilities between the GB/GBC and GBA! You see a lot of weirdness with shinies in Colosseum, too, some of which don't even match up with their Stadium color palettes OR their palettes in the main series - Quilava and its green flames come to mind. Not quite sure what happened there, but I kinda love it.

    • @SuperLucky7
      @SuperLucky7 2 года назад +3

      Personally, as someone who grew up playing a lot of Gen 2, I've always viewed Smeargle's colors in Gen 3 onwards (excluding Coliseum and XD: Gale of Darkness) as a mistake and them just getting mixed up.

  • @improbablegaming6592

    It's not that it's hard to change shedinjas ability, it's the fact that if you randomize wonder guard on Shedinja, it enters the general pool of abilitys to go on other pokemon, and in generations pre-gen 6 there would be pokemon immune to damage. Just a balance reason as to why it's never randomized

    • @Kahadi
      @Kahadi 2 года назад +15

      Not to mention that Shedinja would be useless with most abilities. Sand Stream? Snow Warning? Blaze? Torrent? Overgrowth? Even if they managed to give Shedinja a random ability without letting other Pokemon get Wonderguard, it would make Shedinja the most useless Pokemon and they may as well just remove it entirely.

    • @forgerofsouls9126
      @forgerofsouls9126 2 года назад +6

      I know of a Poketuber who posted a video where he gave a growlithe shedninja's ability in Sw/Sh, in a double battle. Than he had the Growlithe use Burn Up, becoming Type Less, with wonder guard. There is of course, a lot of build up to that point. But, yeah, it is hard to give wonder guard to others. The "simplest" method, is to have a shedninja us mimic to mimic Entrainment.
      For those wondering, Burn Up was an egg move for growlithe back in gen 7, and BD/SP.

      @@improbablegaming6592 True, but, I have a randomizer that works on Shedninja. Don't remember where I got it from though. It was hilarious as when I first fought a shedninja it had sturdy.
      More like make that "had". As I tend to not keep roms/hacks like that for long considering their dubious legality.
      And I completely agree, if a randomizer is not for a Gen that has fairy types, those two should not get wonder guard.

    It's pretty common for Pokemon characters to be named after plants in Japanese, even Bill's name in Japanese can be explained as a kind of tree in some way. It's more likely the localization of Bebe's name started the trend of computer-related things because she obviously got her Japanese name before the other languages.

    Voltorb Flip is actually a bad mini game imo. It doesn't matter how good you are, you'll still lose a lot. There will always be boards that can't be cleared with logic and skill alone and they will require guessing. It's a game of chance like previous gambling mini games. The only reason Voltorb flip doesn't count as gambling is because you don't buy in with your own money.

    I don't know how to accurately explain this, but the Floaroma Meadow flower arrangement in BDSP is just slightly off from the original layout in Diamond and Pearl. You'll only notice if you count the exact flowers in both games, paying attention to the colors and how many there are. It seems like a mistake rather than a distinct choice. I wouldn't even bother mentioning this if it weren't for the fact it's basically the definition of an obscure pokemon fact that no one would ever ask for lol

    Nuzleaf not being able to learn GrassWhistle despite its Pokédex entry saying it can use its leaf like a flute isn’t the only example of a Pokémon’s move pool not reflecting its Dex entry. Here are a few other examples
    -Watchog’s Pokédex entry states that it likes to spit seeds even though it can’t learn Bullet Seed
    -Vullaby’s entry states that it can’t fly because it’s a baby bird but it in fact can learn Fly

    The speed stat is not tied to the physical speed of the Pokemon, but, rather, the Pokemon's reflexes. And when you think of it that way, it makes perfect sense why certain high-speed Pokemon, like the one covered and Rhyhorn have low speed stats. And this also explains why Pokemon that would obviously not be fast on their feet have high speed stats, such as Slaking or Eiscue when it's ice block is broken. Do not try to convince me that this little penguin can out run a talonflame or weavile.
    This is something I feel lots of people have overlooked, and to be fair, I did not really start to realize this till a few years ago, when I started to realize something about the stats in Dungeons and Dragons. So, speed is not about physical speed, though, that might still play a part, but, is more about reflexes.

    2:30 obligatory mention that the boxart for PMD Rescue Team DX emulates this as well, just in one boxart instead of split into two
    7:31 the thing about Pokémon character names is that most of them in Japanese (not just the professors) are indeed named after flora (trees, flowers, etc) since all the way back in Gen 1; these names were lost in the translations. it isn't until around Gen 6 that translated names begin to incorporate flora as well (Rose, Peony, Acerola, Grant "pomegranate" matching his Japanese name being Zakuro, pomegranate, etc)

Disarming Voice, Eerie Impulse, and Screech would all seem to be better candidates for this entry than Grasswhistle, though I wouldn't necessarily fight for any of them. Maybe one day we'll get a move like this for Nuzleaf?

    5:11 The banning of the Porygon Episode, and subsequently Porygon as a whole from appearing ever again in the Anime was massively unfair.
    Yes, that "Electric Soldier Porygon" caused seizures due to rapidly flashing lights was bad of course, but it wasn't the Virtual Duck that caused it. Rather the Actions of a certain yellow Rodent...
    8:24 Shinies in the two big Gamecube Pokémon Games are wild across the board by the way. My favorite example is shiny Diglett. Instead of a blue nose, it looks more like Pokémon's take on a Super Mario World Hill.
    10:02 I still wonder whenever the whip thing comes up whether the fact that (overleveled) traded Pokémon might ignore your orders is a repurposed remnant of this early stage in which you had to manually tame Pokémon.

    Odd fact (with some speculation), the two companies that translated and localised the Pokemon Adventure Manga were Viz Media, and Xuang Yi, with the latter being from singapore. Xuang Yi has since closed its doors, however it was always said about how they would take America's Viz Media translations, flip the manga to be read left-to-right instead of the Japanese right-to-left orientation, and then publish it. However despite this, there once was a time that Viz attempted to skip ahead to catch up to Japan with the manga, skipping from the end of Ruby and Sapphire and going straight to Black and White, and it was only after many fans cried out that they released the missing volumes, however in this time Xuang Yi were still releasing their editions as well, with them even getting further than Viz with the translations. Despite this, it was still seen that Xuang Yi stole from Viz Media. My speculation though is that it was the other way around, that Xuang Yi often did their translations in-house, while Viz chose to copy, and then flip, the others work. One hard piece of evidence of this comes at the start of every volume, in which the reader was presented with a map of the pokemon world and you could see where the trainers were in their journey, their party, and even their badges (or contest ribbons). When looking at the Japanese releases, the map is normal, and with Xuang Yi's release the map remained normal despite the manga having been flipped. The only outlier was Viz, in which the region map was now flipped to show the opposite, with the Pokemon League in the Kanto region now being on the right-hand side of the map, instead of the left like we all know it to be.

    Weird, I live in sweden and was very into pokémon when it came and have never heard about the ban. Watched it every saturday morning til the Hoenn series aired. I also had a lot of merch and collected the pokéball minifigures. I've heard that pokémoncards are banned in some schools nowadays though...

    6:08 if pokemon had abilities in mind since gen 1-2, imagine ditto having what today we know as zoroark's illusion, so that when you find him in the wild, he would be dosguised as a random wild encounter of the area. I would hate it and it would be great

    Man for some reason I was CERTAIN belch can flinch. It's pretty weird that poison doesn't have any flinching moves, I associate it with annoying, kinda unfair tactics as much as I do dark.

    just a note for shedinja ability in randomizers - it is not that changing its ability is hard. The randomizer has inbuilt limitter that when randomizing abilities shedinja will always have wonder guard. Simply beacuse without it its useless as it always has 1 HP. Until you shuffle or otherwise increase its HP stat without wonder guard this pokemon will die too frequently.

    Also a useless fact heatran is the only legendery effected by the cutecham glitch in gen 4 even if you have a female gender pool with the glitch you would think cresellia would be affected by the glitch but it doesnt.

    I have one that people may not know; currently im training a Magneton for Special Attack EV's at Route 113 and it has the Magnet pull ability. The amount of Skarmory's you will find is hilariously frustrating ! one time i got 7 Skarmory's back to back so if you need to find Skarmory use a magnet pull ability Pokémon to find more

    I get that they had strict ad laws, but I fail to see the "stealth" in "gotta catch 'em all" and the Pokerap. Pretty obvious they were meant to market the series to the hip young kiddos.

    8:10 the whole smeargle tail thing isn't actually a mistake on the part of XD/Colloseum, as Smeargle was intended to have a red tail as its base form before it released for Gen 3. Apparently there's official GameFreak development art that show Smeargle with a red tail

    I believe Collosseum's Smeargle wasn't a mistake. I remember as a kid there was promotional material of Smeargle with a red painted tail, and later on was changed go green.
    My bet is that they did it so it didn't resemble blood

    The actual reason that Smeargle has a red ripped tail in those games is because it’s birnal color and shunt color were swapped

  • @TDAdvocate
    @TDAdvocate 2 года назад

    The Colosseum Smeargul tail colour isn't actually technically an error, but instead a change that was made between generations. IIRC the main and shiny colours were swapped between gen 2 and 3 but was not changed in Colosseum due to when it had started development. Still a cool fact nonetheless!

    In B2W2, Yancy only trades you Meowth, she doesn't trade you Mankey even if you pick the Female character.
    This is because she is in the "Dating plot" that revolves around picking up her dropped item and giving it back to her, so this character who goes on a date with you will always be the opposite gender. Therefore Yancy does not show up if you pick the female character, instead, a male character called Curtis will take her place, and only Curtis will trade you a Mankey. This is very different than saying Yancy will trade you a Mankey, I just wanted to point out the difference here.

    i'm going to hazard a guess that leaving shedinja with wonder guard was intentional, as otherwise it's entirely usesless (unless it's after gen5 and gets sturdy, i guess). it might be worth diving into the source code for the randomizer

    Shedinja's ability isn't difficult to change, it's just that it's useless with 99% of any other ability. Only being good (to an unbelievable degree in later generations) with sturdy.

    Having such a high viewership from non-subscribers means that RUclips is recommending you, which is good for your long-term growth. I hate it when RUclipsrs complain about their viewer subscribership.

    • @PaPaSea

      I wasn't complaining. It is just stating how there is a high amount of people watching my videos and not subscribing, and generally speaking if that consistently happens a lot of people could be forgetting to subscribe and a subtle reminder that takes what, 3 seconds? isn't hurting anyone

    The reason the games set in the Orre Region, have the shiny and normal versions of Smeargle swapped, is I think, at some point long ago, Smeargle had it's Shiny and non Shiny color variants swapped than we know them today. Green being the Shiny and red color of the tail tip being the normal version. So, if this is true, the developers of Colosseum as well as XD: Gale of Darkness, may have at some point during development of those two games, they were using older Pokemon games as reference material for the Pokemon color palettes, rather than the current ones at the time. Feel free to correct me on this if I'm wrong, as I remember past details incorrectly at times. But, if I recall correctly, green was the Shiny color in Gen 2 and red was the normal color, for Smeargle. Today though, the color of the brush tip of the tail of Smeargle is swapped between those two.

    Why do we have to consider PLA main series just cuz Game Freak said it is? When I say “main series” , I’m not referring to a list that GF made. I’m describing a certain type of game that plays a certain type of way. PLA doesn’t fit the description I’m trying to make at all. It’s almost closer to a backward-in-time mystery dungeon game, what with the isekai antics.
