And a very happy 2018 to you! I figured start the week with a warmup for Friday. Legitimately, Fade to Black is every 1st year metal guitar player's goal (at least it was mine). Ran a little behind for Metallica Monday but hopefully this'll do :)

Probably the best solo cover of this song on the internet, the solo is A) flawless and B) has added touches, absolute masterpiece of a cover! So many people mess up the pace of it, and then they also mess up the bends, but both are done perfectly here, well done my dude! WELL DONE!!

Perfect. The litmus test was getting those 'member-tingles from listening to this back in the day. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are still my 2 favourite albums of all time. I love this Metallica series, Erock. A real tribute to one of the greatest bands in history.
Reminds me, Stone382 did some good Metallica covers a few years back, like 25+ songs, worth checking out for anyone that digs a good cover.

Funny story: I actually managed to find a copy of the album Ride The Lightning abandoned in a snowbank. Still have it and it still works..... Minus one or two skips here and there considering how scuffed it was when I found it. :)
After needing out on this and playing with playback speeds, this isn't how Kirk plays it. The fast part was originally alternate picked with two pull offs (19 to 14 etc). However, sweeped with pull offs as demonstrated here, does sound smoother to my ears. Beautiful playing.

Also, "Ride the Lightning" is their best album. Every song on it is either good or great.
