Man! I guarantee we've unknowingly crossed paths at E street alley in the past. I was one of those Filipinos that bouncers had to double take when checking ID asking me what year i was born haha! Now not so much...
And the sad part is - we are back in lock down mode, so all the outside seating places are gone - pickup or delivery only. How many more small business will go under? Last time I was at Gaslamp picking up Here Be Barr from Hilton Hotel, and I think, we we eating lunch at Broken Yolk Cafe.
I know... cant even have a meal outside. So sad... wish they can just stay open at this point, alot of restaurants are hurting. Hope Jon comes sometime next year once its safer!

Hey Jay, that Live Music Joint next to The Shout used to be called Rock Bottom brewery, The Shout was part of the Rock Bottom and it was a good club back in 2004-08 no dress code, used to rock my LT Chargers Jersey and SD hat in the Rock Bottom club.. Probably b 4 ur time, The Blue Tattoo was a known club as well
I was living in San Diego circa 2009. The Ivy was there and I used to go to that rooftop nightclub/lounge quite a bit. I think it’s been renamed now. I went to La Puerta quite a bit for Mexican food if I recall.
@@Jaycation thanks for the fast response... Great review of Gaslamp Quarters ... I have a vacation booked in March-April will definitely visit the gaslamp area. Thanks
How was Hard Rock? I was there last July for my birthday. My father paid around $1400 for four nights. It’s very tempting to eat the goodies in the rooms😏. But there’s a nice convenience store just across from spaghetti factory so customers can save money.
Just curious - are all those outdoor seating areas for dining and drinking still up and functional after all of this time? I am headed there in February and hoping to get some eating and drinking in but not comfortable doing so indoors.
Just curious: are you aware that the Gaslamp District was originally designed and built as a Freedmen's (United States freed slave population) district? Gaslamp was the "BLACK DOWNTOWN" of San Diego. Meaning foundational Black Americans? Because George Ramsey and Robert Rowe (a white man who was married to a Black American woman) designed and built that district, which was the only place that Negroes could go since we weren't allowed to go to the MAIN "Downtown San Diego area" that was for all ethncities of whites (Anglos, Hispanics, Eurasians, etc). The Douglas Hotel used to be there in Gaslamp. Which developer tore it down? Because I have been all over SoCal and have yet to see any Freedmen owned hotels or bed and breakfasts. Why are there no Black owned, non immigrant Black owned businesses there now? Why is it that all of the ethnic and organized cultural groups who have their own full fledged districts all over Los Angeles and other metro areas across the country with hundreds of restaurants and hotels get to have what little was built for Black Americans under Jim Crow? Every city I have been to I noticed this evil agenda to bury and wipe out the Freedmen's heritage neighborhoods and districts. I need answers. Your video is cool but I am sad to see that there are no Freedmen's shops. When Gaslamp was for FREEDMEN. San Diego's Gaslamp area was the "Harlem Renaissance Hub" of San Diego.
Was there a few months ago. Avoid at all costs. Nothing but homeless garbage everywhere. Stick to Little Italy. Shame as the Gaslamp "used" to be a great spot to hang-out. Not anymore. Downtown SD has become a homeless refugee camp.
You can't go there now, homeless everywhere, crime everywhere. No longer safe. We use to go to a hotel and walk to the quarters, no more, no way, no how, not today.
Enjoyed staying at the Hilton Gaslamp…their hotel restaurant was average but convenient.
Awesome! My brother used to be bar manager in the Field for a few years! Love that spot
Thanks for the nighttime video!
Thanks for watching Deb! Glad you enjoyed it!
so amazing ... a big thumbs up and a happy new week ...lovely greetings ann sander
I used to be a bouncer in Gaslamp
I worked at E Street Alley and a few other clubs I forget the name of.

Gas lamp is always a fun time, spent New Years there one year
Turned it up so many nights at gaslamp haha
I worked in that Marriott restaurant, and Altitude up top for 4 years. You tight btw
Love Altitude! I always head up for a beer when my friends are in town. Thanks for watching Ramsey!

Random question, where can I safely park a full sized truck in the Gaslamp area? I’m not familiar and I’m going to stay there in a couple weeks.
Tipsy Crow hands down my favorite! Their Cubano sandwich is off the hook! Love Vin De Syrah too!
I love that place! Used to drop in back in my 20s haha Vin De Syrah down in the basement right?!

Yep!
So fun to take someone new there and watch them try and find the door. Hilarious!
Thanks for the tour! I’m headed here today!!!
My office (which I haven't been to in months) is located in the basement of Horton Plaza, so I've spent a lot of time in the Gaslamp!
Any good restaurants that may seem like tourist traps in that area? lol

Hey, I've been watching your videos. One of my friends wants to do a solo trip to San Diego. Is it safe for a woman to go there by herself
Yes you are fine! The homeless people are on the other side of the city. Police presence is big in the gas lamp.
Stayed at the Hilton near the Gaslamp sign few years back.
Your dad said that was the last time he was there!
Is parking pretty easy and cheap going to Gaslamp Quarter?
Nope, quite pricey actually. During the week you could luck out on metered parking
Gonna be staying at the hard rock next weekend for my bday 🤘

Lou and Mickey's is so expensive but served good steak! Thanks for the vlog Jaycation!
Gelo was like 3 years old last time we went there
How much was the steak?
You should make another video about Gaslamp, is more action now days
Def in the works!
Damn im the 1000 person that hit like 🎊

Is there still outside dining?
tons! both inside and outside but extended patios are still around
Are bars and clubs open right now?
