Did you have to scrub as well? Or was that only from spraying?

Just spraying! There was a small section behind one of the trees that I scrubbed a little after spraying but 99% of the fence was spray and rinse only.

Should you stain the would after or put some kind of protective coat on it ?

Great question! If using an oil-based stain, you don't really need to but with a water-based stain, some manufacturers recommend that you use a polyurethane top coat to help protect the stain and wood. I personally do not believe that a top coat is necessary.
