Thank you so much for this interview! I was a nurse for 21 years (69-90) and left bc nothing made sense--with all the advancements in technology and new discoveries, majority of doctors did not advance so the status quo remained and no one was getting better-- just surviving on MAINTANCE DRUGS--the older the patients got, the more medications they were put on. AND there was an influx of new nurses who were not quite as dedicated as us OG nurses. The time came for me to exit stage left! I am now a Holistic Health Coach out-of-the-box. That's why what your guest is saying today is so important to me. There is a wave of change happening to planet Earth, and I am humbled to be in a position to help others sife through the BS. Just want to thank you for bringing Dr Davis on. I have the family cholesterol that seems to be resistant to every diet I have e tried. I refuse to take statins and when I tried to explain about the tiny ldl and the fluffy one to my dr she became angry with me I don’t think she understood what I was talking about. And then said if you don’t take the statins you are going to drop dead with a heart attack. She’s not the first dr to tell me that. I’m 75. Have had high cholesterol all my life as all my family members have. I have looked into studies about it. I have recently started to eliminate grains from my diet mainly to reduce the arthritis I suffer from so it will be interesting to see how high my cholesterol is next visit. Wonderful talk by Dr Davis. Thank you. As a side note my heart is fine

My last checkup at the doctor was a few months ago. My blood pressure and blood sugar were fine. My cholesterol was 279. The doctor tells me he wants to start me on a low dose cholesterol medication. I says to him no thanks. He says your cholesterol shouldn't be higher than 200. He says to me what are you eating that your cholesterol is so high. I said red meat, eggs, and full fat dairy. He says to me all that stuff is going to kill you. I told him I'm staying away from carbs and sugar. He says sugar isn't really a problem. ,😂😂😂. He says to me just eat whatever you want and watch your portions. I couldn't help but laugh. He told me that he lost 40 lbs by eating whatever he wants and watching his portions. But even so, he didn't even look that healthy. My parents go to a cardiologist. And the cardiologist tells them to stay away from red meat, eggs, and full fat dairy. And he put my father on a cholesterol medication because his cholesterol was 230. I keep telling my parents high cholesterol is not dangerous. They don't want to listen

This Cardiologist is brilliant! I worked as a CCRN for 30 years caring for all kinds of cardiac patients. My total cholesterol even at age 30 and running half marathons was always in the 259 range. But my ratio of HDl and LDL was excellent and my triglycerides have never been elevated so even though my doctors have suggested me going on a statin for the last 30 years, I refused. I did agree to take a CT for calcium check and I was clear! I just wish more of my friends would believe me! Thank you so much for reinforcing my understanding. Of course, we are prisoners of “average” , “normal” lab values and we can’t do much about that but we can try to eat healthier.

Edit: BTW, I had the NMR -Nuclear Magnetic Resonance test (NMR is now called MRI Magnetic Resonance Imaging, as he mentioned), and it really shows the picture of LDL, HDL, TGL, and insulin resistance/insulin sensitivity very clearly. I showed it to a cardiologist friend and he had never seen one.

With all due respect I've been a vegetarian for decades now and although my Vit. D levels were catastrophically low (am taking supplements for that), my doctor was amazed that my calcium was still spot on. Many years ago I took someone's advice, that sprinkling sesame seeds on a lot of my foods would ensure good calcium levels. So, I disagree, but also wish that Dr.'s also encouraged patients to get more sunshine, which has way more benefits to health than just Vit. D, & I feel that we've all been scared to go in the sun because we've associated it with bad things. It can also have huge benefits, re. our circadian rhythms etc. Obviously sitting out in the sun with no protection for hours until you go red IS not wise, but fresh air & sunshine should be encouraged more, as long as you're not 'baking' yourself under the sun just to get a 'tan'.

Wow Jesse, fabulous interview. Love the genius of Dr. Davis. As usual, you had great questions to draw it out.
Too bad he didn’t cover the new data about what’s called the “CAC Paradox.”
This is cutting-edge data out of JACC (American College of Cardiology, top cardiology school on the planet) and Cleveland Clinic (ranked #1 globally for cardiovascular care) where they labeled this - the CAC Paradox/ It’s so new he may not know about it yet. The Dr. John Rumberger criteria Dr. Davis brought up is from back in 2008.
CAC Paradox is a counter-intuitive process where a person gets a CAC score of say 600, proceeds on a successful lifestyle change (drops weight, eats better, working out, all blood markers fantastically better, etc.) and their score goes UP, not down! This new data shows that’s a GOOD thing.
To be clear, it wasn’t a paradox to the researchers and doctors, but they knew it would be puzzling for patients. The patient has stabilized their soft, inflamed, dangerous plaque which IS the cause of heart attacks and strokes.
I quote Cleveland Clinic “The CAC (Coronary Artery Calcium) score is like the tip of an iceberg, whereas the soft plaque is what’s under the surface. What’s really dangerous is the soft plaque, and estimates reflect an approximately four times as much soft plaque present as hard, or calcified, plaque.”
That means your subsequent CAC score can go from 600 to 2,400 and you are actually BETTER and out of danger. You’ve turned your soft, unstable, inflamed, and dangerous plaque into stable, non-dangerous, calcified plaque.
This was also confirmed in another new study from JAMA Cardiology titled “The Importance of Coronary Artery Calcium Density.”
So don’t freak out if your score goes UP instead of down after getting healthier.
I was fortunate to get this new science into my book prior to publication. (Chapter 19)
    Again, fabulous job Jesse!!!

True. But, our ancestors ate large ruminant animals. These animals nutrition profile was very different from today's cow that end their life in feed lots. For example, Omega 3 in a cow today is miniscule if it is grain finished. Thus, you need to eat other food to get any serious amount of Omega 3.

There's so much good information here. First time I've seen Dr. William Davis and I'm a new fan. I have done so much research on the fish oil question and have finally landed that I should focus on getting it from salmon and sardines because the chance of oxidation for even the "good" fish oils is so high. (Dr. Berry, Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Shanahan, PubMed). So to hear Dr. Davis say oxidation or rancid supplements is really not an issue anymore makes me put my hands on my forehead. So much conflicting info from credible doctors and researchers. Also, 3 grams of DHA/EPA is HUGE. That's a lot of daily capsules based on how much DHA/EPA is in your average supplement. What to do?? (Love Dr. Davis' enthusiasm, btw!)

    • @kronos77
      @kronos77 5 дней назад +1

Just look up the subject. There are some studies that shiw 70 percen of the fish oils are rancid. Others, using a different method show 70 percent are not rancid. It appears that the method used to determine rancidity is the key. But even if the cooprrect number is 70 percent rancidity, what about the other 30 percent? The people supporting that number never ask that question and personally, I am suspect of the ethics and honesty of many of those people.
Nevertheless, I try to get my Omegas from fish.
