Most 20 year olds wouldn't even know how to start a chainsaw non the less operate one. Thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming. The positivity is refreshing.

    Nice deep face, no corrections needed. Perfect back cut. Sharp chain and hot saw kept right up with this gentle leaner. NO sliver pull, and fair enough hinge wood to hold it into the lay. That tree was growing for decades, and our creator knew the day and the men ( Mitch and his filming partner) who enjoy the harvest. Thanks so much for taking time to share this! BTW there's still plenty of wilderness and riparian zones for the remaining old growth. This unit has been planted, and 40-80 yrs from now another cycle will be thinned and eventually harvested again.

    • @StihlSlinger661
      @StihlSlinger661  9 месяцев назад

      I don't post them for attention. I posted one for fun. Then figured out I could make money posting videos doing what I love, so I kept at it. I don't post them for validation or attention. I need neither. I know what I am, and that's a very talented timber faller with my share of demons. Even if someone doesn't like me, they can't deny my skill. I worked damn hard at it by showing respect to all of my colleagues, not just the top hands. My Dad told me that even the worst cutter knows at least one thing worth knowing. I asked questions and studied chains & spent countless hours in the saw shop fine tuning my grinder. I'm still learning and always welcome any insight from anyone willing to spend a minute chatting. For you to say I'm not good at what I do is laughable. Not sure why I'm wasting my time with this. You might whip me in a fistfight you might smoke me in a footrace, you might even be able to out spell me, but you will never be able to best me up the hill cutting timber and do as good of a job as me because you lack the one basic ingredient necessary to be in the top tier of timber fallers. It's respect. Hopefully you found this useful. If not.... I tried.

    Hundreds of years, thousands of years, done in a second and you are excited about it?! Thre wont be any reason to go outside if there is nothing to see. It will also be too hot to go out. All the big trees will be gone then what will you do? Cut down the twigs that will be left? Let me ask you. Do you go to parks? Like national parks? Do you go camping? Do you really not enjoy nature and have respect for the world around you? Or at least respect for other people and how you are degrading THEIR lives? Without asking. This video is two years old, it’s 2022 now. Do you think you are helping or hurting in the world we now find ourselves in? I’m not a “treehugger” I live in a city and have no experience with nature. I just know “bad” when i see it. It makes me sick to see those huge trees on trucks. You will literally have to cut down newer trees when these are gone so why not leave some? For everyone else who happens to like them.

      I enjoy the National Parks where preservation is the point. I also enjoy nature, hunting, fishing and clean water. I’m also a forester and was a logging supervisor. I understand something your missing: you consume or utilize wood products every day, so does society. Houses need framing and sheathing, most people use toilet paper, we write in notebooks, print contracts on paper, brush our teeth (lignin is what makes toothpaste paste). All those things literally grow on trees, trees that need to be cut to support man’s insatiable appetite. We replant those areas and the cycle begins again, this is not an end, most likely trees will be planted in this one’s place. We can and should preserve some areas, but others need to be utilized for higher and better uses, that tree probably grows at a rate of 3% per year, younger trees grow at rates 2-5x that rate, producing more oxygen, sequestering more carbon and fulfilling stand the succession cycle present in Mother Nature. You might dislike this, but as you said you live in a city, lumber is something you buy from a hardware store, there is quite a path that it took to get there and it’s worth taking a little time to explore just what goes into timber production.

      He turned himself into that. A few fellers might have accelerated the process but that young man is a natural born killer! Shame on Mitchy!

    120 feet is not much. 150 feet for Douglas is already more or less solid. What are the highest interesting solid arrays encountered? That is, I will explain if there is a place where all or almost all trees of the first tier are no less than the plant in this video?!
