Hyenas on the hunt

Although hyenas have a reputation for being lowly scavengers, they are actually more than capable of hunting large prey. After selecting a target, spotted hyenas rely on endurance to run down their meal. They can maintain speeds of up to 50kph for around 5 kilometres, which is enough stamina to run most animals to a point of exhaustion.
