I really don't like the Korean drinking culture where they higher ups force their workers to drink and 'socilize' with them and taking away their time from their families

It's common in most Asian countries, or at least in my area. Bosses force their way around or give workers a hard time, while favoring the workers who caved in for them.

I have no idea how the idol system in Korea can consistently sustain itself like it does with the way the conditions are for everyone.
Not only all these horrible conditions for managers, but back when I was an exchange student in Korea I had a friends friend who was a stylist for a girl group and had to file a civil lawsuit against the company for never getting paid thousands of dollars owed for all their styling services. Also I think I remember seeing in the news about a salon who had to do the same thing because the company didnt pay up for the salon fees.
How does it keep going strong when literally everyone (including the idols themselves, managers, stylists, salon) work in long and harsh conditions and many times dont even get paid or severely underpaid.

Because a majority of fans do not know about the harsh working conditions of everyone involved and even if they do know, a lot of people that do find out about the harsh conditions talk about how terrible it is and how is should be changed and then goes back to not caring five seconds later when their favorite group does something else. That is the main issue. Nothing is ever going to change because even after fans know about how terrible the conditions are for the managers and the idols/trainees they do not care as long as they get content from their favs.

I hope Korean entertainment world will face changes in the future.. to get rid of the system where the artists have to look 'perfect'.. to stop spending hours and hours for the artist's appearence, makeup, hair etc. Korea needs to pause producing so many new kpop groups because the more there are, the more hectic everything gets. Waiting in the broadcasting stations gets longer and the competition for fame gets tougher. Nobody seems to deeply think about the fact that idols are normal human beings with basic needs like enough sleep, rest and food. Taking care of your mental health is also very important, but just imagine how it is for the idols... to keep themselves together during all the hard times and having to pretend to be all so happy and smile brightly on air. They have so little time for anything else that they barely even get to see their families :( All the rules that most idols have are also so cruel.. you can't date (publicly), you can't come out as anything but straight, you have to be skinny....... I give all my respect to all the idols that are able to endure this kind of lifestyle

I know Koreans have a very strong work ethic in general. Is it like this in general for many jobs in Korea outside of entertainment? They put in long grueling hours, and get yelled and blamed for everything? People seem to live and die in there jobs.

That’s interesting about the female vs male ratio of managers. I never realized that. Although I know LOONA have like 99% female managers, only like 2-4 male managers in a very small team.

Being a road manager sounds a lot like being a tour manager here in the states, except the main difference is that you’re not the lowest ranking face on the totem pole and you actually have legitimate authority

Managers are like family of these kpop idols but also they also have a harsh reality that they have to settle personal matter over their duties and responsibilities with the idols. I think they have the hardest and dreamiest job in the world especially if you are a fan. It may differs on how we see them but to be honest I really thankful that they are strong and straight-forward. I just turned 21 and fresh grad and I was still exposing myself to the field I want... It came across my mind what if I try to enter entertainment industry in Korea.. I'm really passionate on taking care others and then I realized this a rough and hard one because I gonna be away from my parents and my loves one to serve these idols.
I'm really dreaming to be part of that team or family someday.... Thank you so much for doing this video.... now I really want to be better everyday to be a Kpop Manager.
If God will be putting me to be in that position or situation I will make sure to protect and take care of these idols at all time. :) 😍😍

to me that is more "you need to think that this is normal", which it is not at all. All of those ppl yelling their way down seriously have anger issues and should see desperately a therapist. with the highest one first. URGH, I cannot stand ppl like that
