Just go look at your "What if OSU loses to Tennessee" video, I believe I had the top comment saying I would help Ryan Day move if he were to lose that game. Thankfully he did not lose that game, and boy is he making me look pretty stupid right now.... but as an OSU fan I will tell you that crow has never tasted so delicious.

It is funny hearing people still complain about the playoffs. If we were still using the BCS format it would have been Oregon and Georgia playing for the championship, both of which were eliminated coming off a bye week.

An OSU fan born and bred. Multiple generations of OSU graduates in the family.
I regularly delete my posts. I may not have anything older than a year on RUclips. But, not once have I ever called for Day to be fired.
If Day wins, it will be as part of a natural progression in my mind since he became head coach (first time HC). Excepting Michigan, his team's have never lost a regular season game they were expected to win. Even Meyer couldn't do that. Their recruiting has stepped up a little under Day. They were in one CFP final and theoretically a field goal away from probably winning CFP.
Naturally, as an OSU fan, Freeman the Wayne Warrior is next. It was only a few years ago he took over the program after the departure by Kelly, who apparently felt LSU had greener pastures. Freeman winning the championship would be a bigger underdog compared to the other three (another first time HC). It would be great for a fellow Buckeye, albeit bittersweet that OSU would have lost.
Back to B1G, Franklin winning would be between the two above. Not the expected eventuality of Day who has maintained a top tier program nor the dramatic rise of Freeman. Franklin has built a consistently strong program that lurks just outside top echelon of the sport. Only his second HC position after a strong showing at Vandy.
As a college football fan, I am familiar with Sarkisian. Just not as much as the other three. I would say that his longevity in the sport and multiple HC positions at quality programs demonstrates the expectations he brings. However, he has not quite fulfilled those. He has gotten closer now with Texas. I would put him winning the national title somewhere between Day and Franklin, closer to Franklin.
Freeman just has not been a HC long enough to demonstrate he can win championships until now. Franklin has been a strong steady coach, just not sure he (or maybe it's Penn State) has the ability to get over three hump. Sarkisian is more mercurial. He has been at some top programs, but had not shown the ability to take it all the way. But, it is Texas. Day has been but a bounce off the football away. He has the most expectations and should be most able to deliver with a program like OSU.

Winning a championship does not mean as much in terms of future success as it did in the past. As mentioned on previous shows, NIL changes everything. A championship use to draw high 4 and 5 star recruits who wanted the opportunity to play for a championship, even if it meant sitting behind others for a year or two. That is no longer the case. Budget for NIL is now a bigger driver than a coaches prior success and players aren't going to sit behind other players and give up NIL. This translates to the difficulty (if not impossibility) of coaches keep the train rolling and to create anything close to an Alabama-like future dynasty. Coaches need an abundance of elite talent to ensure their ability to outperform their counterparts. There will be way more parity in college football going forward with coaches and teams likely to be up one year then down the next, then up the following year and, again, down the next. For example, Ohio State will likely be a little down next year and then rise again the following year. Same goes for Georgia. With NIL and the transfer portal, the depth just isn't there anymore to be consistently great every year.

Watered-down CFP, results for any of the teams out of the semis shouldn't affect their jobs significantly if one is being realistic, but to pick one, I'd think Franklin would have the most pressure and earned criticism. Sark and Freeman should be in good spot win or lose in semis. Day would be neutral with a loss and safer with a win, as he's been successful for sure but also has earned criticism of doing less with VASTLY more consistently.

Die hard Buckeye fan for over 20 years here. You can check anything of mine you want you won’t ever find me asking for Day to be fired. The only thing I’ve said even remotely close was that I’d “be ok with it”, and that was only after the way he handled the team reacting after the loss to Michigan. I was *far* more mad/embarrassed at the lack of discipline, than the loss itself.
It sounds like they had a team meeting, aired some grievances, and got their ducks in a row now. I’m all for it.

Multiple things can be true and it’s fine. If Ryan Day and Ohio state claim a national championship, they’ll still also be remembered for being undermined by Michigan. Tom Brady is the greatest to ever done it in the nfl and yet he can never escape the fact that he got 3 Super Bowl rings taken from him by Eli Manning TWICE and a journeyman backup quarterback in Nick Foles.

    • @GordonBombay5710

@GordonBombay5710Yeah, that dude's take is bad. No one is going to question the Natty if OSU wins it because of the UM loss. How many undefeated teams have there been iinNFL history? Literally 1. And the Brady/Eli example is completely different because Eli beat him for the title. That is why people remember that game.

    • @jamarreid1082

False. And Tom Brady losing those super bowls is just part of his story, it doesn’t diminish the other 7 in any way. With all due respect this is a stupid comment but you must be a Xichigan fan. Literally the dumbest fan base in all of cfb with comments like this being your actual thought process. Much of the fanbase turned on Day and the team, which shocked the team and created a circle-the-wagons mentality that drew them closer as a team. They realize that all they have is each other. Secondly was a Team called meeting. Usually, these are a waste of time but this one was different. The team LIT UP the coaching staff I mean it was a come to Jesus meeting. My understanding is that it was VERY intense with lots of of yelling. The team blamed Day SPECIFICALLY for the loss. First off it takes balls for players to tell the head coach YOU are why we lost (they were 100% right) That meeting happened on Monday morning after the TUCN game. On Tuesday, Ryan stood in front of his team and apologized to them for the loss. He agreed with them that it was HIS FAULT that they lost that game.
I said the moment I heard that and that practices from that point moving forward were the best they have been all season I said LOOK OUT, if they can do something with the OL, OSU just became BiakBuka (Thats who they send to kill the boogy man)

Never said Day had to go and now I'm vindicated....he drops to .500 and continues to lose against Michigan then we can talk. His buyout plus staff and NIL to keep players from fleeing....losing Downs and Smith....no way you fire Day and I said that after the ichigan game. I was there for Cooper and Day is and never has been Cooper 2.0. The real fear is he's had enough of the crap and walks after winning it all...then you lose Kelly and maybe Harrline and more...that section of the fanbase needs a woodshed moment IMO.
