  • I bought my dream dirt bike, but I don't know what to do with it! So I need some help to decide what to do with this very special motorcycle.... Ever since I was a kid I've loved the Suzuki RM250, in my opinion it's the sexiest bike of the 2 Stroke era that I grew up in, so when I found this brand new 18-year-old 2006 RM 250 I couldn't believe my eyes. I just had to own it....so here we are! But should we ride it? or should we leave it as it is? Let me know what you think!
Thank you to Washbrook Farm MX for their help in making this video :-)

I am with the majority of others. Seal this one up and save it. Do a series on building one. You will never replace what you have now. Make your accountant happy and build a super racer. I was ten years before you in falling in love with these things. Broke my collar bone on one one at age 12 and still loved it. Awesome machine you have.

    Option 1. No question.
Getting a second RM to ride/build would CLEARLY be the most sensible. From a viewer standpoint, building a race bike from a cheap clapped one is just as/more entertaining anyways. I hope your mind isn't already made up and this whole poll isn't just rhetorical...

  • @brianscott9663

Option 2 most definitely. Send it. The only reason these machines illicit the imaginative muse in each of us is because we all connect with the memory of riding one. No one has ever experienced that fully simply by looking at one. In order to live life to our maximum potential, we must actually live it. And the same is true for that machine.

  • @nathanbrown156
    @nathanbrown156 13 дней назад +3

    Option 1
It’s survived this long and they are only new once! There’s a million other 2006 RM250’s out there that aren’t as special as this one that you could do the same thing with. Even a meticulously restored one would do the job if you felt the need to ride something completely stock and original.
The value isn’t at all the concern for me as these bikes are never going to pull huge money like a classic car.
I personally wouldn’t want the responsibility of owning something I didn’t feel like I could ride so I simply wouldn’t buy it unless I had a mansion full of bikes already and I wanted to display it.
You’re the new custodian of this unicorn. Treat her with respect 🙏

And once you find yourself old enough to conclude on the last and final bike of your motocross life unpack it and ride with style and joy. I also don't like bikes just as show pieces but I think it is worth it keeping it as new, if it were a rebuilt/restored bike I would say send it because you could always just fix it up again but never been used is a different ballgame

Yeah, but there are countless 2 strokes everywhere, and this guy already knows how awesome 2 strokes are. Why ruin a perfect example when you could buy a used 06 rm250 and rebuild it back to stock, and beat the shit outta it. They are not rare but an un ridden 06 rm250 is extremely rare. And you can't un ride it, it will never be that again. It would be stupid as fuck to give that up for nothing.... literally nothing that a good rebuilt 06 bike could give. But it's also his to do with whatever so guess we'll see.

Clear plastic over the frame rails. Only ride on perfect loam tracks or drier, never ride this baby in the mud. Ride it but ride sparingly, you have other bikes. You have all of the original high wear stuff in a box for some day.

I’ve been in this situation. After 3-4 years it became almost annoying to own, as I’m not a big fan of trailer queens. My advice it to remove and replace, all of the plastic, the handlebars, throttle (saving original grip), seat, pipe/silencer and footpegs. Maybe even the side covers on the case.
Fire up your new UFO plastic, Renthal, FMF racer and have some fun. 20 + years from now when you feel like you might not be running racing it. You can always give the bike a resto and put all the original parts back on. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the feeling that it’s STILL a brand new bike.

I'd personally love to see how well Shawn can do on that machine. The 3rd option, buying a used 2006 RM250, wouldn't be very interesting unless you brought everything back to factory specifications, and that wouldn't be cheap either; if even possible.

Option 1. This one really pulls at my heart strings since I'm the exactly same way with Suzuki 2 strokes, a little more so with the 125 though. Save this one, find a decent condition used one and do a poll on parts to build that one with if you want fan engagement. You found a unicorn... Let the magic of that time piece live on.

Ride the seat off it mate!!!! I’d certainly regret owning it and not having ridden it, even if I sold it for much more later on!

Theirs a good chance that’s the last brand new 2006 rm 250 I would lock it away and get a used one to ride

Option 2 for sure to me. But before, disassembled it and grease the bearings and while doing that apply 4 stroke oil on the axes and bolts concerned (Just dry it before assembly and it leaves the ester for no rust)

03’ rm250 put me in ICU for 11 days. Back in 2004 but one of my favorite bikes to ever ride. Handled better then any other 2 stroke I ever rode

My favorite Suzuki 250 2 stroke is the RH72. I saw it in action (RN72) at Puyallup in 1971, under Joel Robert, Sylvain Geboers, and Roger DeCoster. Absolutely nothing has ever topped this particular race: the Suzuki trio not only won the race, but absolutely embarrassed the rest of the manufacturers and riders. BTW: every bike is a rider. Use it; you'll love it.

Dilemma!!?? For sure!! But this can never ever be replicated again. If it had low hours on it, I'd say rip it. But, this is an extinct find and must be in a museum. Riding it is like finding the last extinct dinosaur and killing it and eating it!! 😄😄

Option 1. It hurts to say that because I want to see it rip so badly. But that is the most rare untouched find ive seen. My uncle bought the same bike brand new, im the same age as you, and its the same bike that got me into motocross. I have vivid memories of this thing rippin around the home track after the first fuel up in 2006!

Option 1. And find a moto collector museum to display (on loan.) It's not about the money, it's preservation of history.

My first and only real experience with motocross was on a Suzuki RM80 but from the early 90's!
On the 250... Ride the crap of it! The biggest waste ever would be to just have the thing sit and never to be ridden, might as well set your money on fire, sure, maybe you can sell it on in 10 years and get 3 times what you paid for it or more, but thats a big IF and for what?...
    Enjoy it...
