  • Oh my goodness, why have I not done more acrylic pour dips?? This technique is SO simple and fun and made some really beautiful beach themed ornaments.
    I got my ornaments at a dollar store on a whim. You could prime them first but I had no issues with painting these straight.
    My paint is all mixed with floetrol (about 2:1 floetrol to paint) and thinned water to a medium-thin consistency. Paint-mixing video is here! • Mixing Paint for Acryl...
    I don’t remember all the colors specifically, but here are the ones I know:
    White (Sargent)
    Dark Navy (Blick Studio Acrylics Phthalo Blue and Apple Barrel Black)
    Bright Aqua Green (Blick Studio Acrylics)
    Pale Gray-Blue (semigloss house paint)
    Metallic Blue (Artist’s Loft OR Sargent)
    Metallic Gold (Creative Inspirations OR FolkArt)
    Metallic Sea Mist (Craft Smart)
    Metallic Teal (Blick Studio Acrylics)
    Pearlessence (Creative Inspirations)
    Grape Mica Pigment (Let’s Resin Chameleon Powder)

    I wonder what the easiest technique is I really wish I had acrylic paint so I can do fluid art to become it

      Well I think you’ll find this video helpful! Acrylic paint is very inexpensive, and you can even use craft paint for this technique.

    This is a wonderful project for kids. I love doing art projects with my daughter and grandson. Every year I put together art projects for them to do as gifts. That way they always have lots of art supplies for those " I'm bored" days. 😅
    You had talked about dipping glass panels or picture frames, would you happen to have a link to those videos?

    That was so cool. Those ornaments would look nice on a white Christmas tree. It looks like something I could do with my 10 year old nieces. I liked how they looked once they dried. I wish you showed us a pic of them after you put the high gloss spray on them. The metallic paints were awesome. When they were dry, they looked so good.

    I think these would make a lovely mobile. Could one not dip both sides ie dip, dry, dip, dry. Possibly a blue green with blue dominant and then a green dominant side for ocean creatures.

    • @AnnaBlountArt
      @AnnaBlountArt  2 месяца назад

      Good idea! Yes you could dip both sides but you’d run the risk of paint from your second dip coming around the edges and messing up the first side.

    21:24 I won’t write a very long review or complain about music. However I found the crumpling of the paper towels a wee bit distracting. J/K laughing out loud The ornament idea was great and they came out really well! Good job!

    I think if you primed the surface first, the wood grain wouldn't show up so much. Also, I was thinking you could use a piece of a dowel, with some putty on the end, to hold the ornaments when you dip them. It may be easier to pick them back up out of the paint. They look great!

  • @Littlewings1211

    These are so pretty! I particularly love the purple-y set, but they're all really pretty.
    In the dried result of the last set you did the gold on the whales makes it look like they're crying! 😮😂
    Did you get much paint on the back of the ornament? It might be cool to dip both sides if it wouldn't distort the designs, make a set, let them dry and then do the backs? You could edge them with gold or one of the metallics if the sides look messy. This is a great activity to do with kids too. A lot of fluid art is difficult to do with younger ones without creating a massive mess, this one keeps the mess somewhat contained. It's simple, looks pretty when it is finished and some kids will enjoy the tactile side of getting their fingers in the paint. 😊

    • @AnnaBlountArt
      @AnnaBlountArt  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! A little paint got on the back/edges, but I bet if you were careful you could dip both sides. For sure a great activity for kids!

    i make “handles” out of painters tape, makes it easier to pick up, just roll piece of painters tape in circle, tape to back of ornament

    They turned out so pretty. I haven't done the reverse dip in quite a while either. Refreshing to see again. In the comment about music, just my opinion. Would rather have music than staring at a video with no sound. If I see a video with music that is really loud or annoying, I just mute and continue watching the video until words are being said again.

    Why is it video makers feel that background music is a requirement, it really takes away from the quality of the information given

    • @AnnaBlountArt
      @AnnaBlountArt  9 месяцев назад +2

      I’m sorry you found the music distracting! I find that music helps to tie together a video and make it more pleasant to watch, and I really do try to keep it in the background.

    • @Littlewings1211
      @Littlewings1211 9 месяцев назад +4

      It's to fill spaces where the creators may not be speaking because they're concentrating on what they are doing, or if a time-lapse is used so you don't get blocks of silence. It makes a video more cohesive and can be used to set a mood, ie a lot of creators use instrumental Christmas songs when doing Christmas crafts to create a festive atmosphere.
      The music in this video was very unobtrusive, and hardly distracting from the things Anna was saying.
      I can understand it being annoying or distracting if you are someone who has certain sensory issues but I don't think this music would even affect many people with sensory issues as it is very quiet and gentle.
      The only thing I could advise is perhaps use the closed captions or transcript to follow along and play the video in mute?

    • @LindaBB-k7n
      @LindaBB-k7n 9 месяцев назад +1

      😊why do so many people complain?

    • @Littlewings1211
      @Littlewings1211 9 месяцев назад

      @@LindaBB-k7n I think a lot of people don't understand the reason why something is used so they assume it's just a choice made without thought and one they don't like. It's like saying that you don't like the genre of background music because you prefer heavy metal music to classical, without understanding that there's a reason that classical music was chosen over other genres. It's softer and less distracting and helps set a mood for the video that is relaxing and calm, rather than an excited and upbeat atmosphere which would be set by using a livelier genre of music.
      I think there are also some people who believe that content creators should do exactly what they want, regardless of what the creator themselves or any other viewer would want. They think the thing they don't like should be changed even if they are the only one who doesn't like it and see it as a kind of discrimination if you try to suggest alternatives like using subtitles. Not referring to the OP in these examples, just highlighting why a lot of people do make comments in this vein.

    Art from the very beginning, the thumbnail, is gorgeous! as are the rest of the ornaments. I'm going to check the dollar store today - yours are the right size for making gift tags!! I'm inspired and appreciate your positivity on this rainy Monday morning.
    You did a wonderful job creating these. I'd love to see you use transparent ornaments. Light shining through your nautical color palette would be glorious. You always choose the best blues and have a good eye as to what purple will best pair with them.
    The neat thing about a dip, especially with a hard surface as opposed to a pliable canvas, is that the lines change how the surface is lifted (e.g., straight, at an angle). This fluid art form is so forgiving, with the ability to re-dip. Your vertical (?) lifting had perfect lines for your chosen ornaments.
    The reverse dip is pouring on the canvas (fabric, panel, glass, etc.) and lifting the paint with something soft like a napkin (a la @Fiona-Art, who also uses ), plastic wrap, etc. (I've even done it with a silicone mat.) It's a method that David (@LeftBrainedArtist) did on a huge scale.
    Thanks so much for the tutorial!
    (Got to the premiere 4 minutes late, so I started at the very beginning. A very good place to start.)
