Caught sleeping needs to be an official stat.
Bro thanks for the laugh. Might as well, there is a Stat for everything else.
Took an eye of the ball. Your TEB stat.

Nobody on earth is happier than an ump getting to call someone out on a hidden ball trick.
not an hidden ball trick
@JHobieDance doesn't matter it's still a surprise
@@JHobieDance Same energy, doesn't really change my point. Catching a runner not watching the ball.
@@Requinix17 Yep, surprise ball trick!
I would be curious if the ump was watching all this and knew it was gonna happen
Rookie, confused by uniform, clearly thought he was playing an unimportant Cape Cod exhibition game.
Savanna Bananas game lol
Hahahaha! 😂😂😂😂
Honoring dead and injured Boston marathon runners more like it.
@@Cristatachad
As a person who's lived in Massachusetts for 30 years & who worked in Boston at that time, I see this as unnecessary nonsense.
@@Cristatachad How does wearing ugly uniforms honor the marathoners? Dont fall for marketing tricks so easily.
I feel like the 3rd base coach should have known and told the rookie. What the point of one if not to be aware of the field.
Agreed, but also runner has to know. Even in little league I remember the coach tell me, don't leave your base until time is called and the pitcher has the ball. This was just lazy by the runner.
I think the 3rd base coach thought the runner was on the bag. You see him follow the throw with his eyes, and he's not like "BACK!". He's like, "uh, dumb@$$ , aren't you on the bag?"
@@Norm-R The third base coach is facing the field. What is he out there for? To distract the players?
@@Norm-R I mean, yes, but sometimes confusion sets in, and rookie players will make rookie mistakes, even in the big leagues. It's up to the coaching staff to help them avoid those mistakes, and the third-base coach is just as guilty here as the baserunner.
Ya, since that’s kinda his job.
Love the 3rd base coach pointing as if it wasn't his fault either lol
This guy is getting fired at the end of the year (or at least he should be). He’s screwed up sending people home this year so many times. Idk his name but he was the first base coach for a few seasons before moving to third this season.
@@fredfredericksonHe may very well get fired (I know the Yankees 3B coach from last season certainly deserved it) but you realize going from 1B coach to 3B coach is actually a promotion. In the history of MLB, a lot of 3B coaches have been promoted to managers, very few 1B coaches have gone directly to the top.
@@robbarbieri8676 I would say that this year he has proved he’s not ready for 3B coach at least
@@fredfredericksonCan't argue with that!
For those curious -- looks like Yankees won in the 10th inning with a final score of 11-8.
Ty
Mmm, lemonade.
Third base coach caught sleeping on the job. Dude. Third base coach literally has one job.
That job: 3rd base.
If the 3rd base coach has 1 job and it’s to tell a pro player to stay on the bag, then just hire my 9 year old brother to do it
One job?! 😂 Hey Mon!
He's got plenty to do. Telling a MLB athlete to keep his foot on the base? Na
3rd base coach probably got it worse than the rookie from the manager after this
yeah, because the rookie is the ego they need to stroke and keep happy. all the blather on this board that the 3rd base coach was at fault is /facepalm. yeah. he got caught as much as "the rookie," but ffs, a little leaguer knows to keep his foot on the bag. the length ppl are going here to excuse "the rookie" is mind blowing. base runner fucked up. it happens.
Wow, two moments from the same Yankees-UCLA game
Well played sir. Thanks for the laugh.
How cruel of them to force those poor college kids to play the mighty Yankees, right?
Savannah Bananas
3B ump was just patiently waiting to ring him up.
Pretty sure "ringing up" is a called 3rd strike. But sure
The lasik sponsorship was just cruel for raphaela 😂
This isn't the hidden ball trick. It's the even rarer hidden braincells trick
😂
Definitely 3rd base coaches fault aswell.
More so his fault in my opinion. Rookies screw up it happens. Wth is he doing yapping away with him while he’s not on base
@Angels510 This is not a "Rookie screw up. It happens" moment. That is a fundamental play that kids get right. Just stand in the base. It's not hard at all.
@@TheInstantclassicffa That's where leadership matters.
@@TheInstantclassicffa Yeah, but to talk to the third base coach the runner has to turn away from the field, and if the coach is standing where he was and they don't want to be overheard the runner has to go over.
The third base coach should have gone over to the runner. The third base coach should have realized he had a rookie there. The third base coach should have kept his eyes up so he could see what was going on and warned the runner to get back. Yes, the runner shares some of the blame, but I'm assigning one point of blame for each of those things, and one point to the runner... and taking away half a point for the runner because he's a rookie. That gives us a 6:1 blame ratio, which as we all know, is right about where you make the third base coach wear a sandwich board for a week to remind him to pay attention.
It's 'more' his fault because this is his only job - to focus and spot what the runner has missed.
Thank you for laying this out and putting together enough angles to see what happened - but even you could barely put together enough clips, even blurry closeups, to show the relationships and timing on the field. I watched the game and didn't see this. They half-heartedly kludged together a few shots but didn't show half of what you did. Modern producers have such an extreme aversion to wide shots, and it constantly robs us of being able to see where a runner is when an outfielder is throwing the ball, etc. They are so in love with their camera technology and love switching between closeups and medium views and more camera angles. Hey, the game is about the game, not about showing off your abilities.
too be fair jomboy has alot more time to go back find good moments and break them down compared to doing all that while the game is still going and show it with out breaking the flow of the broadcast
@@hdjono3351to be fair….
@@hdjono3351 True. But we see how Jomboy had to cut up frames and match them and use blurry views. If the network had just shown a simple wideshot as their replay during the game so much would have been clear. Would've taken no time at all to put together. YES has a camera set up high in the stands behind third base that doesn't try to pan and zoom. It's angle would be ideal for this - but they give that view very rarely. Anyway, this game wasn't on YES. But geez, this channel (Amazon? ESPN?) must have had something like that but didn't use it.
Excellent comment.
@@donjones4719It was on Fox, Saturday Game of the Week. I do agree that the directors of baseball telecasts are really in love with their technology and often do a disservice to the viewers in trying to understand what happened. I recall when ABC first started showing games back in the 70s, they loved to have the camera follow the flight of the ball. You couldn't tell whether it was 10 rows deep or a can of corn ( old school terminology).
So you’re telling me he recorded his first "Z".
love the videos without advertising for sports gambling
That 3rd base coach gonna hear it from the manager. 🤣
I can't completely fault the rookie...he was talking to a coach who wasn't paying attention either. 😂
Big W for that Lasik sponsorship 🤓 😂
I thought the same thing 😂
The 3B coach could have used it!
That's the real hidden ball of the video. Nobody paid attention.
When I think of Boston, I always think.of powder blues and banana yellow
Ok that ad got me 😂
Oops ❤
Him being a Yankees fan, I can imagine Jimmy really, really loved that. Hell, I loved it. Great awareness by Cabrera and Torres, terrible awareness at third by both the coach and the rookie.
This whole game was wild. Highly recommend watching the highlights
I only got to see the end of it
In high school are scorekeeper used to put CN on the box score for caught napping! 😂
If I were to show someone a baseball game for the first time and I said this is a Red Sox game they would be confused. " So the RED sox don't wear Red socks and their jerseys are yellow and blue... cool. I get it...
The 3B coach is also napping he deserves blame as well heads up play by the Yanks
The Boston Yellow Sox
*Primary color Sox
there's blue too
The bots in these comments are truly captivating and their attention to detail is just outstanding.
That ad was brutal 😆
Serves the Red Sox right for wearing those stupid uniforms.
I'm surprised Jimmy didn't mention later in this game when the Red Sox fielders fell asleep on third and Jazz Chisholm got a free base
Lol 3rd base coach must’ve been sleeping too
It was the next game, this was the Saturday game
Jomboy was on vacation. That's probably coming soon!
when are they going to paint the green monster yellow? you know, to go along with the Boston Red Sox wearing those cute fruity uniforms they got on?
They're rebranding to the Boston Bananas 🍌
@@mikesheffer3690 how’s the closet, Mike?
@@salineaddict9850 how's the limp wrist, dude?
@@mikesheffer3690 I don’t know, go ask your mom.
In the outro you may be thinking, "I hear the ad, but where is Jimmy's face? I guess they aren't projecting it onto someone else like usual."
It was on a fan in the stands; you just need Lasik.
Terrible Boston uni's
There’s nobody no earth happier than Jimmy breaking down a play where Boston gets screwed 😂
In Rugby, you say "Caught napping"
Yeah that's a synonym
In cricket, it's a stumping!
That’s what Boston gets for wearing those unis. Last I checked, Red Sox are Red, not Yellow.
there's blue on the uni's too. Makes them the "primary color sox"
Yeah whats up with MLB jerseys as of late? The Phillies have softball uniforms. Terrible
BOOM
Bostonian checking in to stay I hate them. Almost as much as I hate team ownership.
Boston marathon colors, I love them. They wear them on Saturdays and patriots day weekend. I get that they’re not the Sox’s colors but as a Bostonian I love what the jerseys represent. Boston strong baby
I wish Gleyber was that aware when HE was running the bases 😂
The Red Sox deserve this for wearing that monstrosity. Where the hell is the red?
the color scheme is for the marathon, same as the font. They've had these city connect unis for nearly 4 full seasons now, how do people still not know this?
I thought this was the savannah bananas what are those uniforms
I wouldn't put it all on the rookie. The coach has to share in the blame too.
My wife: I can't take the Red Sox seriously anymore, simply on the fact that their uniforms are now yellow and blue, with yellow socks.
In Australia, the umpires in the AFL (top-tier professional Aussie Rules Football), a few years ago, the umpires were officially sponsored by OPSM, an optometrist/eyeglasses retailer.
Brilliant marketing.
clearly they just thought time was called when the ball came into the infield...... which happens 99.9% of the time.
This isn’t even “sleeping”. This is “I’m way too cool to stand here with one foot on the base like a little leaguer”.
Player, coaches and dugout all caught sleeping.
You're reading an ad for robot eyes
that was pretty slick and quick thinking
Why do uniforms now days look soo minimalistic? Like sega genesis world series baseball uniforms
Good alertness and gamesmanship by Yankees.
Love to see Brewers legend Trent Grisham pull a Hall of Fame worthy trick play like this.
What's up with the Curious George uniforms?
City Connect ... it matches the city flag or transit system or something
What is the point of standing 6 inches off the bag. You can talk to your third-base coach while on the bag can't you? Why even let yourself get comfortable doing that. When I played in high school I wasn't very god, but I was paranoid as hell about being on the bag and the stakes for our team were non-existent.
The GOAT of baseball videos.
Jomboy rocks!
I don't even like baseball and I watch ALL of his breakdowns
Still waiting for the breakdown of Stanton hitting one off the wall in Fenway and barely making it to first base.
ya think he's gonna show that? he's a NY loving mouth
it woulda been a big run because kenley blew the game in the 9th but with that extra run sox would have one, kind of like in the bronx when volpe jogged home and then clay holmes blew the save from a yoshi blast.
wont see him cover that, he's a tool for NY
jomboy will never miss the ability to criticize the redsox. how about a breakdown of gleybor getting pulled from the game? or really a video of all of his running mistakes.
The irony of this is Torres would normally be the one this would happen to 🤦🏻♂️🤣
That was a good job recognizing his bad job of being a base runner.
Ah the old "Hidden Ball" trick. My wife hates that one! ;)
Why did Grisham run the ball into the infield?
NOT the 3rd base coach's fault. What? Is he supposed to remind the runner to wipe his nose too? Runner's fault.
This is a lesson that runner will NEVER forget.
But also... the internet will never forget either.
Umpire got a dumper
CLOBBER - Caught Lounging Off Base, Being Extra Reckless
a special case of TOOTBLAN (thrown out on the bases like a nincompoop)
Did I miss something with Boston? WTF is the deal with those horrific uniforms?
I’m still thinking about the last Jomboy breakdown with Reese McGuire. I sure hope he becomes a “Yankee” if only for the jokes.
I hope he goes back to the Jays
Almost to 2 million sub brother keep up the great work love this channel as little escape from the insane world we live in
I imagine the umps love these trick plays. “Alright, something’s up…ohh they bought to try for this guy. Hehehehe got em!! “ YOU’RE OUT!
I said heads up baserunning not headupurass baserunning
Nomar traded away 20 years ago!
3rd base coach needs to be demoted
Best defensive play Gleyber ever made.
Non baseball dude chiming in; love watching’ these breakdowns!
This happened to a buddy of mine
Kinda got blurred?
Serious understatement
Not much of a follower of the MLB, can someone explain to me why the red sox don't wear red socks?
They normally do. MLB now has teams wearing alternative "city connect" uniforms, where each team occasionally wears a totally different uniform, one which is supposed to somehow display a connection to the specifics of that city, something like that. (It's just an excuse to market more expensive merchandise to customers who are happy to waste large amounts of money.) The Red Sox chose these blue and yellow uniforms as a nod to the Boston marathon, whose colors are blue and yellow, in what is undoubtedly a follow-up to the "Boston Strong" theme which followed the Boston Marathon bombing a decade ago. But the regular Red Sox uniforms are red and white.
What is the 3rd base coach doing also
You guys should do classic game lip reading. I’d love to hear you do Billy Martin going nuts.
Huge Oswaldo fan. Good look!
Love Grisham that guy makes catching look meditative
Why are the New York Yankees playing some random high school team?
got some wild bots in these comments 😂
You noticed that too....

@@theoneandonlysoslappy and Shaniqua really enjoyed the lighting tips.
It's an epidemic across all of RUclips.
@@salineaddict9850Roderick loves Jomboys dedication
Yes thanks for covering this
I like how the runner stepped on the bag after like "look no it's fine, see???"
They did some "Shining"
It's amazing how a narcoleptic made it to the MLB. More power to him.
This happens to me at third base depending on how much I've drunk
Takes two to tango. Good job by the trio of Yankees, Grisham, Torres and Cabrera for noticing and setting it up; bad job by the duo of Rafaela and the third-base coach for not paying attention.
Thats what you get for having awful city connects
I love how this dropped during the 100 run blitzball game and I missed it.
1:31 It's a terrible job by the third base coach! He's supposed to be COACHING the runner, watching out for stuff like this, yet he was chatting with the runner, being the distraction himself. 🤦♂
Looked like the third base coach said “you’re off the base” once he saw the tag applied
My favorite part was when we went to the NES replay version of the play.
Glad for this breakdown .. broadcast missed the whole thing by interviewing Mark Wahlberg..
Greatest in the game with another great breakdown
Pretty sure the coach went
"OOOH your not on the- *turns* oh my god"
The ump was waiting. 😂
That’s a bad lapse of attention but I’m more concerned about those horrible alternate uniforms the Red Sox are wearing! Really bad, especially when the organization already has one of the classic uniforms in baseball.
Not only is the runner caught sleeping but the 3rd base coach is helping keep him asleep.
We really need a breakdown from the Royals v. D-Backs series!
