I took my son to his 1st Phillies game and it was too good to be true. We caught a ball at the fence during BP and the Phills came out hot. I started to get a funny feeling after they didn’t have much going after the 4th. And when Nola left the game I didn’t like the vibe. As we were leaving the stadium (because as a good parent, my son is 6and he had SCHOOL the next day) Lindor hit the 2 run HR and that feeling of losing crossed paths with me as it has in so many games and so many sports in this city over the years. This is the type of game where the handwriting was then, and hopefully will be now, on the wall. 1969, the same first week on May, POSSIBLY the exact calendar day, the Mets come from 7 runs down vrs the Henry Arton-led Braves . The rally begins with of all things, a third-strike passed ball to Amos Otis . About 45 minutes later, the Mets set their record ( at that time) for most runs in an inning, and beat the Braves 7-6, or 8-7.(somebody help me remember). Alot like the game 3 weeks ago when St. Louis coughs up 5 unearned runs with 2 outside. Back in 1969, my memory tells me that down 6-1 in the 5th 3 weeks after they trade for him, Donn Clendenon hits a 3-run homer into the right field bullpen in I think still Forbes Field. I remember it like that.To sum it up, both years I mention 1969, and 2015 were great years
For you guys! My dad used to tell me about that season. He really thought that was the year the Cubs could finally make somethin happen... but the Mets had other plans. Phillies were up by 6 runs in only the 6th inning. That's not the same as a team getting a 10 run lead in the 8th and then proceeding to score more runs in the 9th. Two different situations
With the expanded playoffs and four, possibly five, NL teams that could lose 100 games, it is hard to believe they will not at least get a wild card. But they have severe weaknesses in defense, pitching and not a lot of hitting outside the big four.
It's a shame how we don't have Buck showalter in Baltimore anymore. I hope he wins manager of the year and a world series just to prove our owners and front office wrong. Miss him

When you're on that side, it's more about your team blowing it than the other team coming back.
@@resmarted Yeah I can guarantee Phillies fans were angrier at the Phillies themselves for blowing the lead than at the Mets for coming back
It is so weird to me as a Mets fan, that we are actually doing amazing as a team. I’m not used to us winning
As a Tigers fan, that's how it felt when they went from breaking records for losses, to quickly loading up guys like JV, Miggy, Max Scherzer, Prince, V-Mart, Willis and were perennial WS contenders. It just hurts so bad that they had such ridiculously stacked teams and they just seemed to go from fire to ice against the Cardinals, Giants and Red Sox.
Now back to the old ways, not as bad, but after Mr. Illitch died and his kids took over, the Tigers AND Wings went from elite teams winning Pennants and Stanley Cups, to "boy, that'd be amazing if they made the playoffs this year." They couldn't even keep Datsyuk, the most insane puck handler and two way forward I've probably ever watched, from running back to Russia, of all places, to continue his career. Sad.
Look what happens to this franchise when we get an owner who loves the mets
Don't get used to it, yet. This is just the set-up for the big stumble to come.
Y’all will probably win the division this year.
And.....we won't!!!! It's a long season, we have plenty of time to screw things up.
"Jeff McNeil, they call him the squirrel and no one knows why"

As a Phillies fan this hurt to relive but a great breakdown nonetheless
As a fan who's team has been absolutely blasted on this channel not once, but twice, I feel your pain.
But the videos are just so Damn good.
Put the game on the radio for the ride home and that’s when the dream night turned into a REAL NIGHTMARE. glad we got to go and glad we got out in time.
Same. Then I think about our Phils having Scwarbs in LF in a game against the division leaders. 20/20 hindsight says we should have had the defensive mighty mites on the field. Honestly though, the ball off the pitcher was the deciding factor in this one. The baseball gods must have been angered by something.
Us Phillies fans should just try to forget that this game ever happened...
As a baseball fan, just keep your favorite team to yourself. Cupcake.

I was at this game. Crazy N awesome to witness my Mets make this comeback. It was times I wanted to leave to beat the traffic but stuck it out and it was worth it. What topped it off was Philly fans were so salty after lol
He'd never seen anything like that team when September came around. They'd spoil our fun again in 2015. I'm glad we finally got it the next year, or we'd probably still be talking about how we couldn't get past the Mets!
as a Met fan stop making all these analogies, Met fans are already ready to pop the champagne bottles, this is a fairly new core the Mets have and usually teams don't win with a new core

You have talent Jomboy. I've little interest in the Mets winning or the Phillies losing, or versa-vice, but I enjoyed every second of it. Keep it up.
This is why you never stop playing until the last out is made. Amazing 9th by the Mets. This team is doing really good. Phillies blew this game and there are no excuses. I'd be embarrassed af as a Phillies ran.
Phillies were up by 6 runs in only the 6th inning. That's not the same as a team getting a 10 run lead in the 8th and then proceeding to score more runs in the 9th. Two different situations
The first two breakdowns of the Phillies this year does not give me much confidence for the season.
You rely on 'breakdowns' to decide that? What a tender fruit.
With the expanded playoffs and four, possibly five, NL teams that could lose 100 games, it is hard to believe they will not at least get a wild card. But they have severe weaknesses in defense, pitching and not a lot of hitting outside the big four.
