    Its not a hobby but its a mental health tool. The only reason I do it is for the free fall. I hate heights and hate the parachute ride down and I always have my eyes closed. The moment I jump I allow my mind to go into stillness and silence becuase I know my instructor will take care of me. I have done it 4 times in 3 years.

    I watched this video in preparation for my first time skydiving and now that it happened I came back to share my experience! One of the wildest moments for me was when the door was slid open…and everyone on the plane just started throwing themselves out of it?!? That was my “oh sh*t this is actually happening moment” 😂 The freefall was pretty rough for me, there was too much pressure in my ears and I was panicking and struggling to breathe so I felt I couldn’t enjoy it as much until after the parachute was deployed unfortunately. And my last comment would be that if you can afford it, absolutely pay extra to have another person record your jump rather than just opting for a selfie video recorded by your instructor, the angle was so unflattering that I will NOT be sharing that video with anyone besides my most trusted friends and family haha. But overall…I would do it again!

    • @ExploringwithCourtney
      @ExploringwithCourtney  Год назад +3

      I love this comment! thanks so much for sharing your experience. great point about the selfie video. I don't think the place I went to offered to have a separate person film the jump, otherwise that def would've been my preference. glad you had a good time overall :)

    1 st Jump in Saratoga NY. The scariest part for me was the night before, and the next day driving to the small airport. We were waiting, while other people were jumping, looking up at the tiny black suits falling from the blue sky out of view. Then when it was our turn, the door opening at 13 k feet, looking at the step, step away, chest out! (Class) It feels like you are flying, not dropping. While landing over a golf course, there was one guy golfing, parachute shadow coming over the trees. He made his best Pterodactyl , as we flew over the poor golfer at 8 am , he turned and never saw us . Can you imagine what was going through his mind in the club house?? lol
    Fear last seconds.. regret last a lifetime.

Its a little overhyped so dont worry people youll be fine. Just make sure your instructor is big on safety. If not, ditch them.

    Skydiving won’t mess you ears up. You should be able to pop your ears in a few secs no problem. For those people that said it really messed them up, all I can say is that’s most likely from having a head cold while jumping. Don’t jump if you have a slight head cold. That prevents you from being able to pop your ears. For the normal person, you will barely even notice it

    Hi there everyone! I live in Taupo New Zealand and did my very first Skydive on my Birthday last January; I was'nt even Scared, and it was fantastic! The second one a few months later I was nervous as hell but need'nt have been; this was the beginning of an Addiction for me. I have now completed Seven jumps; two of which were consecutive (one after the other); fair to say; "I smashed them"!
    I am aiming to complete a trio of jumps in December before Christmas.
    If any of you are visiting NZ ;Taupo in particular ,come do a Skydive at the Number One Tandem Skydiving place in our Country out at Taupo Airport; the Crew are so awesome and of course Super Experienced.
    I guarantee you will fall in love with the mindblowing views over Lake Taupo and three of New Zealands highest Mountains at the Southern end. Extra beautiful when in Snow.
    One of those Mountains; Ngauruhoe, was "Mt Doom" in Lord of the Rings.
    Check out Taupo Tandem Skydiving for more information.

    I had my 1st time 1 month ago (15,000 feet). What I felt was the worst was, for sure: control my breathing in the first second and more than that the discomfort with my ears, as it was super painful. That pain lasted for around 24h other than that I enjoyed a shit ton and just want to do it again - I have the vid of it, where you could clearly see me trying to control my breathing.

      I don't know whether it was a factor or not leading to the pain in your ears, but I was warned by my instructors not to do a skydive if I had congestion in my sinuses (like if you have a cold or maybe allergies as well). The outside air pressure drops so rapidly, your ears should "pop" automatically as you fall, unless your head is congested preventing you from equalizing the pressure automatically. I remember only one skydive where I had any pain in my ears. At one point one of my ears popped fairly hard, which hurt for a few moments, but that was all.
      Edit: Sorry I see she addressed this in the video...

    Hello beautiful people…if you are about to endure your first jump, my advice is to go at it with a completely open mind. Try to push away the world of shoulds: this should be this way…this should go this way….etc.
    When you get rid of the expectations, you get rid of the fear and open yourself up to both awe and amazement on your way down.
    This is a heart and head adventure: settle the mind, feel into the heart.
    Enjoy the ride up, and express gratitude on the way down.
    ✌🏾 ☮️ 🎉

    Great explanation of why tandem jumpers can not use their own cameras while skydiving. As a tandem jumper, the FAA, and USPA (United State Parachute Association) consider you a student skydiver. Cameras are a huge snag hazard, which could cost someone their life if things go wrong. They only want skydivers with experience levels that can correct these problems if they should happen.
    Any future tandem jumpers, please do not think it it the drop zone, or the skydive instructors are just trying to make extra money by not letting you jump your own GoPro. Please do not take your frustration with this out on them. I have seen it several times, and it is pretty sad to watch an instructor get yelled at moments before they take a "customer" on a life altering adventure. $100 is about average for video packages, and looking at the cost involved, most would think that is pretty fair. From the cost of the cameras, to the software to edit the video, to the time spent doing the edits, it really is not too bad.
    in my opinion, if you have an option to get video shot from a second skydiver, take that option over a hand held, even if it cost a little more. They will get your exit, and freefall from many angles, as well as your landing.
    Be safe, and have fun.

      @IskraTheCat123 Год назад

      @@lekstute it was AMAZING! I thought it would be quite scary falling through the air but turns out it's not! Honestly, the scariest part of the experience is sitting on the plane waiting for the "scary" part to happen. As soon as you jump all of those negative scary thoughts go away. I even got to high five the cameraman, just for fun. The view from up above is amazing too. I jumped when it was quite warm, so I could feel the wind, but it doesn't squish you like some people think it would. I could breathe normally, just not through my mouth. When the parachute opened it felt like the harness loosened a bit and we were going quite slowly. My instructor told me how to unpluck my ears (I didn't even notice they were plucked before) and let me take control of the parachute for a little bit. Then he took control and started to spin us. I went really fast but my brother told his instructor that he gets motion sick so they went slower. The landing wasn't bad either. He told me earlier that I would need to put my legs up and it would be smooth. He was the one to land on the grass, I didn't have to do anything but keep my legs up. I would highly recommend skydiving to everyone. It's really worth it!
