    absolutely insane the amount of work necessary to replace the batter on the 17 r4. on the 17 R1 you can just pop off the back and the battery is right there. definitely not looking forward to having to do this lol

    • @YvonSmart
      @YvonSmart  3 года назад +1

      It's always recommended to use the same specs battery for replacement for optimal performance even though a different specs battery with the same physical caracteristics could fit and work with no issues. The computer will still treat the battery as a 65wh battery which can lead to charging issues or swelling overtime. So using a different battery is taking chances

    DO YOU STILL have this laptop? i keep replacing the swollen battery every year as it gets swollen and the fan keeps making so much noise even when its DOING NOTHING-mUST BE A DEsign Flaw with DELL

    • @YvonSmart
      @YvonSmart  Год назад

      Yes, I still have this laptop 5 years running strong. Let's say that it requires some fan cleaning often especially if you are a heavy gamer. Your environment also affects it, like using it on the bed which is so detrimental as the fans are always suffocated and lint gets inside the fans. If your battery keeps going bad, insure that you are using the right charger (330 Watts). It's such a big laptop that most people tend to keep the charger connected and use it as a desktop computer. That's very bad for the battery and the SSD drives life span. Always insure you are buying genuine batteries

    • @YvonSmart

      Usually it's possible but some recent laptops with build in batteries won't run correctly or even turn on at all. But it should work perfectly on Alienware. You could just leave the dead battery inside unless it's swollen like mine

      @@KingoftheRoad-2023 Hi! I had to edit my first comment as I said that the slot is a two notch, I meant the opposite. Two notches on the SSD drive, but but a single notch on slot. Two notches drives can fit into one notch slot. But one notch drive cannot fit into two notch bay. There is no physical blockage of the second notch on the bay (slot). In fact two notches slots do not exist (at least I have never seen one). All slots are one key so the laptop can support most drives

    This is the second time my battery does this shit.. why does this keep happening

    • @YvonSmart
      @YvonSmart  9 месяцев назад

      It's due to Lipo battery chemistry. That's why most laptop use 18650 style batteries, they don't swell. Many gamers leave the charger connected for weeks and use the laptop as a desktop computer which I'm guilty of also. That constant charging is the battery's worst nightmare. Also make sure you are using the OEM charger as some chargers are universal, they will charge your laptop but if the voltage and current on the label do not match the manufacturer' specified values, the battery will degrade slowly
