needs it's battery replaced but I just keep it plugged in, the disassembly looks daunting

You forgot to mention to remove the 2 screws from the back cover where the ports are. I almost broke my cover and chassis trying to pry the cover off. I had to look at another video to see what I was doing wrong.

You can sometimes get it with a small flat blade, otherwise you may have to drill it a bit and use a screw extractor.
@AssimilatorX mine actually got repaired nearly an year ago and I didn’t notice until I opened it a week or so ago. Sadly my warranty is out so I don’t know if they will accommodate

You need to enter your Service Tag number on the Dell support website to get the correct part number for the assembly. There are different ones depending on your video card version.
After cleaning the fans my right USB port doesn't work anymore. Do you have an idea why?
Sorry just saw your reply. Did you just blow air into it or actually take the bottom case off? The only thing I can think to check is the connector that attaches to the motherboard.
May be u didn't connect it properly! Do recheck :D
unfortunately, disconnecting the hard drive seems to have made the pc unusable even though the bios detects it

@@jay-uj8xt because i'm stupid. I disassembled it and attempted to boot it while it was pieced apart. I didn't pay attention to the fact that I had ribbons resting between metal on the power source and it caught fire when booting. It was a tiny fire, like a sick birthday candle, but enough to fuck it up and make the living room smell like burnt plastic.

@@MegaReinart nah, sent it in and had the motherboard replaced. now the screen went out and also needs to be replaced.
