Tielman Susato had a music shop in Antwerpen in the 'Oude Koornmarkt' and that house is still standing - my dream is, to have it reconstructed. Not far from there, in the old print shop of Plantijn & Moretus, they even still have all the sets to reprint the old music books of Susato, imagine(which they occasionally do, for very select people ...)!

Of the many performances of this piece I have heard, this is my favorite of those I have heard recorded. Also quite true on the rather impressive exhibition of combined percussion and trumpet - wow! The French horn, so difficult to play well, is as amazingly tight as all the other brass. Bravo!
I just found this video, it's great!! As a pianist, to me playing the trumpet, tambourine AND bass drum is accessible but it would need lots of preparation which he obviously did. I would think the hardest thing would be holding the trumpet with one hand which could change embouchure sensation.
I don't even know how I ended up on this video.... but it's 3 days I play it on loop at work and I can't stop listening to this! Is this Susato a composer specialized in writing earworms? Does he have an Instagram or Facebook profile? Please help me following him!!!

Great job. I can't imagine trying to play percussion and trumpet at the same time when the parts aren't completely in sync!
