I think its just you. I believe you can achieve so much more when its a lighter color, dark colors are very restrictive and i am saying it as a designer

I think the first one in red colour would just have looked perfect on her, it would give her the glow the red glow. For some purpose i don't like the combination of red and gold.
I think the first dress was too close in color to her skin tone, and the second dress looked matronly. The third dress worked the best, imo.
