Far too expensive. I left this one alone.

Affordable? After kickstarting 4 sets I realized it was cheaper to buy a 3D printer and just print my own scenery.

Just to be sure - is this in reference to our D&L terrain system? Our plastic is basically cheaper than resin (when considering overall costs), more detailed, and a whole lot more durable.

@@szymon_archon3514 Yes, my comment was simply about cost. Not quality. I will agree that compared to what you can buy off the shelf it's a pretty good value but not cheaper than printing your own. I'll also agree that the quality is high. I'm not a fan of how doors are in the middle of 2 squares but that is a what ever.
I just realized after doing the highest tier option when kickstarting multiple sets that it would just be way cheaper for me to buy a 3D printer of my own and then pay only a few dollars for similar files and print my own.
Example: I got the Dungeons and Lasers 2nd Edition for $449. I later got a pretty good 3D printer for less than that. Yes, I got a LOT of stuff for $449 but now that I only pay for the plastic and files I can ultimately save a ton of money.

Eh, it all depends. If youre going just by material costs, yeah, itll be cheaper beyond a certsin point (probably around the 400$ mark).
      BUT!
You arent just paying in money, youre paying in time. Printing requires time to optimise prints, actually print the items, clean and paint them. All of that takes a decent chunk of time. If you like painting and printing? Totally worth DIYing. But if you only have limited hobby time, having stuff that's ready to go is going to be pretty useful.

Yeah this is only true if you count your time as costing you nothing. In this hobbie, time is worth its weight in gold.

Durability does depend on the resin used. And filament is about the same durability as the HIP.
I honestly don't think that any is hands down the better choice.
Each has advantages that the other lacks.
      Each has disadvantages.
I tend toward FDM printing terrain, which is cheaper than either resin or HIP, but a LOT slower to pront, and a LOT more prone to misprints. (Our FDM printer is eight years old - that's almost a hundred in printer years!)

Terrain is easier to paint, but also you do tend to need more of it than minis. Also that it is easier is why the technology to paint the terrain than it is to paint minis. I think at the moment it can do great detail but only on relatively flat items like floor and wall tiles.

One of the best values I've seen on Gamefound/Kickstarter in a long while.

I love painting but hate painting terrain. Because I feel like I HAVE TO paint it to the same quality as my minis.
This prepainted stuff is going to save me so much time and energy where terrain is concerned. I backed it the same day it came out!

After seeing so many options for caves, tiles, and terrains, I kinda feel bad for "wasting my time" learning Blender. I know it is a wrong feeling, after all, I did learn a skill to help me, but wow I am always so amazed at the ones you feature.

It's never a waste to acquire a new skill, especially since you can truly customize available STLs the way you want them!
