Excited for this one - I’ve backed a few of the dungeons and lasers campaigns before and have gone in for the prismacast versions of the caves. Is nice to see some more detail of how it looks and how the sprues clean up on the attachment points
Amazing paint job. I love the vibrant colors you chose. This video made me see a benefit to the D&L products in that with having the separate walls, you're able to easily spray paint from the bottom of the wall to create a shadow effect like you did with the fluorescent violent at 10:25.
Another excellent video, showcasing an excellent product! I was thinking, "This vaporwave cave could use some pink and maybe some orange/yellow highlights," and then Dana put 'em in. I spoke too soon. I am embarrassed for second guessing the Queen of Vaporwave. I will not doubt again. Thank you for your time, effort, and generosity!
I'm glad you can feature some D&L products. I really like them and more people needs to hear about them. It's perfect for D&D and really nice for Mordheim or Frostgrave
The painting is honestly the biggest part of the hobby for me, but I've found that ends up being one of the biggest barriers of entry for people. These are absolutely brilliant. I'd love to see how the idea gets expanded, but also how they take paint, glue, and clear coats. It really feels like a way to make the hobby way more accessible and inviting to people who want to game and collect. My collector brain also immediately imagined doing these in smaller boxes where the different paint jobs are randomized. I can imagine people wanting to only have a few or dip their toes in. It might be hyperbolic but this feels like one of the most exciting developments in the hobby in a while. I hope the concept expands and I wonder how minis done this way would turn out.
I very much enjoyed seeing your painting process on these. I've just started playing with the Noosh medium this year, and I like your use of the brush for specific areas. I might try that technique myself now, so thank you!
Thanks for this video. I backed it (King of the Mountain). Looking forward to receiving all that terrain in the future and painting it up using your tips and advice. Thanks!
Almost the future of wargaming, having pre-painted hobby. Kind of like playing computer games vs. table top gaming for some of the older generation... Kind of sad, but convenient that said you could paint over them... imagine GW made Smurf sprues... I would definitely buy Space Hulk for the 3rd time just for the map pieces.
Revell has done pre-painted sprues for some of their snap-fit model kits for a while now, but I don't know if this is done through a similar technology or in some other way. This does look like a very nice take on pre-painted kits though!
I absolutely love your vibrant caves. I'm not sure about the newsh technique but I'm going to give it a try. I hope you enjoy your D&D game. I'm looking forward to your next ... video.
The Dwarven caves you have in the Video look awesome. The add on ones look more rectangular and are full height walls. I wonder if the half height will be a option?
Great video and glad I’m a subscriber on this channel as I might have missed this project. The heroforge color printed minis and now this for terrain…awesome time to be a gamer!
I'm a big fan of D&L products... I have a lot of their sci-fi stuff, but the fantasy lines are really well done. The pre-painted could very well be a good seller for them. If they can continue to offer more variety and maybe larger packs of parts, I'd be all in.
I really like the paint job. It reminds me of a black light mini golf course, but with scary monsters and horrors beyond our comprehension instead of friendly mushroom wizards. I guess I could see mushroom wizards living in this cave, too… 🤔 Nevermind I have no notes.
I'm curious if Newsh is just something like Golden Open Medium. Last night I tried mixing Vallejo Matte Medium with some slow-dri to use in this way. I also noticed paint lifting. I had just drybrushed and done some glazing right before I did my wash-and-wipe, so I have a feeling letting your paint cure for 24 hours before using something like Newsh is a good idea. I'm not sure how long it was between your airbrush coats and the newsh, but if it was the same day I'm guessing the paint lifting is not being caused by the Newsh specifically, just that acrylic needs 24 hours for full strength.
The color printing process makes me both excited and scared for the future. Excited I'll have to paint less stuff for tabletop but scared that minipainting is at its height right now but if you can just buy pre-painted stuff will the hobby die out?
Not a chance, pre-painted already existed before and it comes with a bump on the price tag, not only for the consumer but the producers as well. Nice option for people that wants to save money on paints etc/does not want to paint/don't have time. That's it.
Hey there I just recently saw your Ice Planet 2002 videos and I think you should try and make the flagship of the line the deep freeze defender to store minis and what not keep up the good work ❤
I think blackmagiccraft was spot on in his criticism of the prepainted sets: the paint job is not good enough. The concept and tech is fantastic, but I feel they dropped the ball by choosing paint jobs that are little more than drybrushing and washes. It may be more a question of me not being the target audience. I generally prefer crafting my own terrain for various reasons. If I were to seriously consider buying this type of product, the paint job should be seriously impressive, and these tiles are not that IMO. Maybe that will change down the line
Not a fan, to be honest. We have tons of plastic as it is, adding piles and pils of modular terrain is not something I would like to do, not to mention, assembling and disassembling this stuff on the fly during the campaign is stupid and takes so much time, and preassembling dungeons BEFORE gaming session is plainly counter productive, you need a separate table or two to store them, and party may just pass you dungeon in their session =)
I love the video contrast to BlackMagicCraft. :)
Dana: Explains the featuers and how to assemble the product.
Jeremy: Smash! Smash! Smash!
With those fluorescent paints, that cave would look so cool under a blacklight, all lit up glowy and spooky!

I was thinking "absolutely beautiful for Night Goblins" and then you said the backdrop thing.
Thanks for all the info and the color scheme. Love it.
Another excellent video, showcasing an excellent product!

omg that cave terrain you painted is sooo cool esp with your goblins!
I really love the cave paint job. My first thought was underdark but its a really fantastical and vibey pallet. Im saving that for one day.
Everytime I see you do the bi-color base colors I'm just blown away. So freaking cool
I'm glad you can feature some D&L products. I really like them and more people needs to hear about them. It's perfect for D&D and really nice for Mordheim or Frostgrave

Love how those pre-painted pieces look. (And Dana's own paint job on the cave tiles aren't half bad either).
SynthCave is my new favourite genre of D&D background music
The cave paint job is AMAZING and I want to do a Tyranid army in that style. I won't, but i want to. Your choice of color is always so impressive

👍👍 terrain product looks fantastic, glaze product is interesting too!
7:49 - That's funny, I thought you preferred *Square Spaces* !
Thanks for this video. I backed it (King of the Mountain). Looking forward to receiving all that terrain in the future and painting it up using your tips and advice. Thanks!
Good call on the floir to wall contrast, its easy for natural environmenrs like a cave to blend **too** well

I think a Matte Varnish and a black oil wash will really do this set nicely! Great review!

Love all of Dana Howell's videos
Perfect colour scheme for the Masters of the Universe skirmish game.
Great review and great color scheme for the caves!

I'd love to see them offer something in 6mm scale for terrain/buildings using this style system.
Great video and glad I’m a subscriber on this channel as I might have missed this project. The heroforge color printed minis and now this for terrain…awesome time to be a gamer!
I know you don’t post much on Instagram anymore but I would like to see what your night goblin backdrop will look like with these new caves!
Please do me a big favor and take a blacklight or UV light to the stuff you painted with the fluorescent paints. Trust me
These pre painted parts will be great for my mini dioramas that I build. 😃
The terrain looks as cool as ever, but my main takeaway is that you can use newsh with fluorescents 🤩
dana gotta have one of the coolest styles in the game for sure

I would call it The RAVE CAVE! Perfect for hard partying goblins.
We've come so far in the past 20 years 😮. I remember when mdf terrain first started coming out and it seemed so advanced
Whoaaa, I wonder when we’ll get printers with uv painting capabilities, it’s bound to happen eventually
I really like the paintjob.

That's definitely top notch!
Don't need caves or dungeons but I need wasteland terrain. Think I can use this quite well, looks great
Very nice review. The products look amazing. This was a great video.
Can't wait to watch the actual game ;)
Thanks for the video really like the color of the cave

gorgeous work, dana, looking forward to more rpg builds, and sorely tempted by D&L
CGA caves for that authentic 8086 RPG vibe, nice.
Did you say "fleshy caves" ?
That's going to be hard to say no to
Looks really good but it would take the fun out for me. Finicking with foam FTW
I think it’s sorcery. They look beautiful.
Amazing painting as always.

Prepainted minis have been around for years
Also dwaevenforge and warlock tiles come prepainted.
Not a chance, pre-painted already existed before and it comes with a bump on the price tag, not only for the consumer but the producers as well. Nice option for people that wants to save money on paints etc/does not want to paint/don't have time. That's it.
I always think pre painted minis look so bad, so I wanna paint my own.
No way. If anything this will only make existing artists want to try harder 😂
Great video and product, sadly the pledge would easily double in cost when importing to Norway, then suddenly it becomes way too expensive for me.
the fluo pink is crazy
Looks very cool!
Hey there I just recently saw your Ice Planet 2002 videos and I think you should try and make the flagship of the line the deep freeze defender to store minis and what not keep up the good work ❤
Solid content, thanks Dana!
Hello, what is the name of that "oil wash alternative"? I have bad hearing
The name is right there on the bottle. Do you have vad vision, too?
@@ItsDrMcQuackI kind of paid attention to the process ,not the bottle. I'm used to people moving stuff from one bottle to other.
Pro Acryl Newsh weathering medium.

The caves of TRIPPING BALLS
I get a diablo ][ vibes :)
dungeons and lasers are too good, ive been backing them since their first one!
I just like your work I learn a lot from you
Nice caves
Looks like I'll hear "I'm tired boss" from my wallet soon.
I need the rpg books to be nice hard plastic.
Yeah, but I want to know how much more expensive it is
👍👍
