    I have that exact bike but in black. just got off the phone with Harley museum yesterday asking them about my year and model bike. I learned that it came off the production line on 11/12/1981 and there were 1,687 total made. Only 483 in black. It was made in York, PA and shipped to a dealership called Sports Unlimited in Colorado. The original purchase date from that dealership was on 7/15/1982.

      @@millertime2976you should call and ask about yours. It’s the Harley customer service phone number then I think you listen to the options on the recorder and press 3 then 7 if I’m not mistaken. I talked to the nicest people who were happy to help. They even emailed me the ‘window sticker’ and all original decals from the bike. They have so much info.
      But yea mine is the exact same. Lowered fairing and all. I just don’t have those bars that go on top the the saddle bags. Apparently the York PA plant where these touring models were made has closed…. At least temporarily

    This bike looks great. Doesn't cost anything to put a drip pan under the bike. If you spend the time and money to replace the gasket it will eventually start leaking again. The previous owner removed the enclosed chain case on mine and unfortunately installed some sort of automatic chain oiler on mine so I have to put a drip pan under the front sprocket when I park it in the garage.

  • @larryfromwisconsin9970
    @larryfromwisconsin9970 4 года назад

    I had a 1973 FLH. I wouldn't be sure you have a gasket leak. Mine had factory automatic oiler for both the primary and the final chain drive. The primary case is vented at the top rear. Oil will sling up there and get the swing arm damp with oil. I went to a primary belt so I plugged off both the oiler lines coming out of the oil pump. With the invention of o-ring chains the automatic oiler on the final drive is over kill.

  • @millertime2976

    Mine has a BDL dry primary so the drain plug is out and the Derby cover is spaced out for air flow. I started putting a plastic lid off a rattle can under the drain plug. I think only 2-3 drops come out of it, but you know how oil is, you could paint your house with a tablespoon's worth.

    • @millertime2976
      @millertime2976  4 года назад +1

      I believe but I’m not certain that the windshield on the bike was home made. But it was made for another more functional windshield to bolt to it. A Madstad. If you look close from the front or the back you may be able to see the 4 machine screws through the windshield that’s on there.

    I know this is an older video, but I'd like to know how it was lowered?

    • @millertime2976
      @millertime2976  Год назад

      I actually sold this bike about 6 months ago. But I believe it was lowered in the rear just by the shocks. The front actually wasn’t lowered, the fairing had just been modified and was mounted lower on the down tubes. It looks like when they lowered the fairing that they did it a tad to low because there’s was a crescent moon shape cut off the bottom so it would clear the front fender. The front fender was also modified and sat damn near on top of the tire. It had a slightly modified rake too but it rode very close to stock. The cat who did it knew what he was doing.

      The Tour Glide like a Road Glide has the front fairing mounted to the frame as opposed to an Electra Glide or an Ultra where it’s mounted to the front forks. That’s kinda the claim to fame for the Road Glide. That said some people love them and some hate them.
