Ultrasonic Testing of Stainless Steel Welds

The presentation is on ultrasonic angle beam inspection of stainless steel welds. This lecture discusses stainless steel weld microstructure and its effect on ultrasonic wave scattering and propagation. The effect on both longitudinal and shear waves is discussed and the presentation shows that while longitudinal waves transmit easier than shear waves in SS welds, they are limited to 1/2 vee inspection
