- My mic died so so all the audio is from the camera, and then heavily processed. Sigh.

Just got into structural steel and I am using a Sonotest d20+ your videos are so helpful
Great job Paul and thanks for the shout out for the art.
Good video, been waiting for a straight forward, spell-it-out backing bar video.
Doing alot of exactly what you've demonstrated, single bevel backing bar, but 25, 28 and 32mm, exactly what you said, to start with shaking my head and ruler (Aussie in Australia ) out every 5 minutes, but now I look for the signals as a guide
Always informative, always enjoyable...
thanks Paul!
Thanks. I am introducing my HS students to NDE and checking their own groove welds. I'm a novice but very thankful for your videos. I spent hours yesterday playing with our UT machine and some vee grooves with backing. On that root signal, how would a bit of unfused bevel edge look?
Great question! On the near side, pretty easy. The first of the twin peaks signal will rocket up. But on the opposite side it's much more difficult.
Would be good to see your tutorial/explanation on scanning partial penetration joint welds with UT conventional
If I had a sample I would. The conclusion would likely be: don't do it, too much geo.
Great dimo
Thanks from Egypt
How do you determine the difference between a gap in between the bar and test plate and an indication?
You have to scan from both sides
Kindly can you explain this with using phased array
great video
Nice
Does Canda require those big 🐌 wedges that AWS calls out?
No
