I have the exact same MacBook that I bought in April 2022 for €3853. I really like it, it works fast, the fans have never turned on yet. This is most likely because I don't really load it with heavy tasks and don't play games on this computer. I even saw that some stores here still sell this model of MBP. Anyway, I recommend buying this laptop if it's being sold at a significant discount.
I purchased a 14" MacBook Pro with an unpinned M1 Max for $2,000 6 months after it released.. I just bought an unbanned M4 Max 16" MacBook Pro. While the added screen real estate is nice to have, I do miss the space gray color and the performance difference in 90% of the scenarios is not discernible. Adobe Denoise AI is 90% faster on 50 megapixel raw files. However, I don't believe that justifies the extra expense since I don't do this daily or even weekly. I am thinking about returning the M4 Max. My M1 Max still does everything I need it to do.
I have the same spec 16 inch I bought around a year ago from a guy for $1500, the marginal difference in performace when you have the flagship from only a few years ago, still sharing the same body, makes it completly unjustifiable to upgrade.
Thanks for the video, I have the same system and mainly use it for video editing and was thinking about upgrading. I think I'll stick with my m1 max for a while longer.
I just ordered one just like this but with 64gb of ram (refurbished). It's replacing a 2015 i5 MBP with 8gb ram and a 2018 i7 HP Omen 15 with 32gb. The only downgrade for me is the storage (I upgraded the 2018 with 2TB), but I will gladly make that trade for more ram and a much faster processor. Can't wait.
I also ordered a refurbished 64 ram MBP but for storage I’m using an external ssd for all my projects so I’ll leave the internal for OS and applications
I just scored a bran new 16" M1 Max exactly same specs like yours. I dont use it like you but Linux VMs work amazingly. Fucking machine rocks. I got sealed never opened 3 months ago for 1900$ on ebay. Couldnt say no. My M1 Air still works like new. It has 512 SSD and the 8 core GPU. SSD fast as fuck. Linux on it also runs so well

My company laptop is an M1 Pro macbook pro, and this machine can basically do everything a programmer can think of. Period

When you upgrade can you tell us if it slows down in those particular workloads? You mentioned your current mac is slower sometimes
Will do!
If you can get one for a low price why not? My only concern would be the battery wear.
There’s a 4t MacBook M1 Max 64gb for $2000 or should I get the new M4 MacBook 14” upgraded?
If you care to use apple intelligence features go for m4. Otherwise performance of M1 Max is still great. Also what screen size you want matters
i wonder if m3 pro/max would also slow down in that few moments you were talking about. My guess is: yes :)
I’m hoping it wouldn’t slow down! :)

Eh honestly could just get a black skin for older M1 & M2 Macs
Seeing you edit on the trackpad is painful. lol.
There’s worse pains in the world
that laptop is meant to last for 5-7 years and there's no doubt that it won't be able to compete with any upcoming mac in the near future.
Duh
