    We take this stuff for granted, trusting without a second thought. Years ago, my former supervisor bought an inexpensive lock pick set and asked me to study it in order to open the lock of the plastic cover that restricts access to the air conditioning thermostat. Our office was freezing cold, and the maintenance department refused to change the setting. In a very short rime after studying the fundamentals, I managed to open the lock on the thermostat cover, as well as o3ir file cabinets and locks on the hutches of our desks.
    Eventually, I was able to fashion on the fly a set of picking tools by just using two paper clips, straightening one as the rake to manipulate the pins and fashioning the other as a rigid wrench to turn the cylinder.
    You are right about just feeling the tension of the pins with the rake. You can also hear the pins as you apply slight pressure. Slight movements, as you advise, make the process more easy.

      Terence Cossey you can make simple picks and tension wrenches from paper clips. Purchased tools may work better, especially on tougher locks, but a paper clip will let you get started. Lock picking was invented well before commercial picks were sold!

    Ignore the whiners. I've watched a very large number of lockpicking videos. You offer a unique perspective and ideas not discussed in other videos, like the differences in types of people who pick locks. You clearly know what you are doing but more you know how to teach. Some people want high production value free entertainment, and they're gonna whine on every channel because they can't be pleased. Your audience, the person who wants to learn the knowledge you offer because they are interested in the topic, will be delighted.

      It's good to have repetition too, some people won't like a channel just because of the way they present it or talk. So if you present it as well, someone will get the information.
      I like to watch Bosnian Bill, because of his style. I don't watch The lock-picking lawyer, because the way he says some words drives me crazy, though I do respect and recognize his skill.

    I use to work at a True Value store many years ago. My department included selling locks. Mostly the door kind. I always had requests to help a customer unlock things. Back then I watched some RUclips videos but that was back where videos were not really good. I mostly learned from cartoon videos that worked. Recently I had to use my skills again so I went to RUclips again and picked this video from the search menu. I like how he explains it. Thank you....

    It took me a while to get the hang of the single PEN picking. I'm still a little rusty at it but given enough time I can get in if get locked out of my own house. Paper clips are little more harder to use because of the fact that they're easily bendable. But that's also what makes them really good to use.

    Why would someone pick a lock to be locked? Sometimes, based on binding order and pin depths and perhaps other factors, picking to the locked position and then using a plug spinner may be far easier. Another thing that may cause issues is how the lock is oriented near the door frame and if the door frame gets in the way of the tensioning wrench.

      It all depends on the lock , it’s never hard tension because you’ll not be able to push the pins up,it light tension to medium ,but mostly lightly is enough

      It was a joke, the guy said light tension about 650 times in the video.

    Most keyholes/plugs i've seen are installed upside down by an inexperienced person, especially the Kwikset locks. How do you open/pick those upside down locks?

      You would be pushing the pins down to the shear line instead of up.

    One Question That I Have Is When Make The Practice Locks Do You Put All Of Top Driver Pins In The Bible?
    Also what about when you have a master key with stack pins?

    • @kevingracias7982
      @kevingracias7982 5 лет назад +1

      Wiliam Bennett master pins actually lower the security of the lock because it gives you two sheer lines making it a lot easier to pick.

    • @buggsy5
      @buggsy5 4 года назад +1

      You only put pins in the stacks you want to practice picking. So, for example, the 5xxxx lock will only have pins in the first position - all others will be absolutely empty.

    I watched your videos and I like to thank you for all your
    help it saves on having to carry a lot of tools those
    crowbars can get you in trouble. Besides illegal entry is less of a crime than
    breaking and entering. The crowbar tears up the door, and I tell them the door was open. Thanks again
    for all your help. By the way, would you like to buy a big screen TV? Thanks
    again

    I can rebuild a car engine, row the grand canyon, build a few homes, take calculus and organic chemistry, pick the blues on a guitar, but 2 hours of trying to pick a cheap schlage lever lockset with a full pick kit is enough for me to get out the sawzall so I can get into my shed. I can see and hear the pins disengage but no luck??? Going to try again tomorrow and see if I can beat this lock.

      Marcia Ewell Schlage locks from the big box Hardware stores usually have mushroom pins. Also, Schlage locks are harder to pick then Kwikset, Weiser of the Chinese made locks. Get an inexpensive Kwikset deadbolt that is not a “smart” lock.

      @@24hrMrLocksmith Thanks for encouragement. I have fresh lock to install, just need this one gone. Maybe I try drilling out the pins or the 2 long screws first then the sawzall as last resort. Thanks so much for info!

    It would be much better if he didn't repeat everything over and over again. If we want to see it many times, we can rewind the video. Otherwise, as someone was was a licensed locksmith for years in both New York Cit and San Diego, he is a good teacher and has great videos

    Although most locks can be picked in a shop by experts very few theifs will take the time to learn this skill. They will break a window ect. So to put in some 500 dollar dead bold is like putting on a 15000 pound link in the middle of a dog chain. What is a good lock deadbolt that is difficult to pick or bump drill but does not break the bank?

      Jay Babcock Schlage B660 or B560 Everest cylinder deadbolt. I will make a video.
