    I make short films with my friends and local artists. Most of the actors are black, and ive found I prefer lighting darker skin tones. When you get it right, it just looks so rich.

    this all day! ive had some crazy experiences on the set of some commercials a bit ago. some ppl nail this ... some ppl dont. Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay, and Oprah hit it out the park. lemme not forget Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) annnd shout to Hype Williams bc "Belly" 💥 the lighting in that took it to a whole new level... definitely painting with light

    Dope tutorial! Playing with color temp is something to consider! Yeah I've heard about the crew on the Insecure show using CPL's on dark skin tones to cut on skin hot spots. I'm looking at the 200x vs 300c for a rim/effect light to add to my 600d 300dii set. Good to see these perform with a light dome ii

    Solid tips. I usually set my key a bit warmer as well. I’ve never used neg full on dark skin but I will try it.
    I normally use the glimmerglass 1 but I like the 1/8 you have

    Really good video. question how did you decide in the kelvin for your key light. You did not go with the kelvin from outside. Can you explain why you choose a different a different Kelvin.

    I would not recommend using circular polarizer for removing highlights of skintones. It generally looks unnatural. Just make sure to have the key light be softer

    Hey - you should make a video on lighting for mixed skin tones. I had to film a bi-racial couple and it was extremely challenging as she was quite white and he was fairly dark. I ended up keeping the lighting dark so her skin didn't blow out, but I had to mask him in post and bring the exposure up some. How would you handle this situation?
